Blue Sky – New Market, MD

Del Ray Pizza – Alexandria, VA

Our first game of PHT for 2015 at DRP did not disappoint, and the leader board moved a bit into uncharted territory due to a great final question!

Give it up for HR PuffNStuff for their first top place finish in their PHT career, great job guys! TBD came to play as well, nailing the final and leaping into 2nd. High School Prom knows how to wager, and protected themselves for a 3rd place finish!

Join me here again next week, where our first category will be American Civil War Battles.

Greene Turtle – Hagerstown, MD

Today at the Green Turtle, not even the howling gales outside could stop us from having a great time!  Another packed house full of great teams was a sign of good times to come, and we had another great game this fine evening.  I must say I was shocked how many people knew what planet Han Solo was born on, and I’m glad most of you guys knew the theme song to The New Girl, that’s one of my favorite shows right now!  The Stand Up Comedians proved to be a little tough, with one team saying that I look like Jim Gaffigan, something I couldn’t help but laugh at.

In the end, however, It’s Only Toothpaste got the last laugh and the victory, being one of a few teams to answer the final correctly.  The second place team was The Cobras who were right behind Toothpaste for most of the game.  In third place with a surprise leap on the final was Thinkers and Dreamers, as one of a few teams to answer correctly on the final.  Thanks for coming out and playing everybody, and we will start next week with The Walking Dead as our opening category, courtesy of It’s Only Toothpaste.

Until next week,
Chad B

il Forno – Frederick, MD

We learned some valuable lessons in pub quiz tonight: If you’re unsure about the first name, ONLY PUT THE LAST NAME, unless otherwise told by the host. Chicken McThuggets learned the hard way, which actually turned into quite a good prank by them, but the point is that you should never supply extra if not asked.

I’d like to make a quick shout out to our team The Snuggle Is Real, who all came dressed in their PJs! Even with bed time approaching, and the comfort of a mattress calling, these guys still made their way out to the bar to join us for trivia, and for that I commend you! Tonight’s game was mostly about I’m with Geoff, however, who won their 3rd or 4th game in a row tonight (can’t remember exactly with the holiday turmoil but they’ve been on fire!).

This is when being good and being consistent comes in handy! We have playoffs coming up shortly and the World Series is full of hungry trivia teams looking to take the top prize and that number one spot is usually taken down by the teams who are showing on a week to week basis that they are winners. Geoff did not disappoint, taking down the win by more than 20 points tonight (being one of the few teams to answer correctly on the final question). 2nd place went to South Paw Fish with a defensive wager, 3rd place going to Chicken McThuggets. Next week we’ll be back! Hopefully you will too 😉

1st Place:     I’m with Geoff
2nd Place:    South Paw Fish
3rd Place:     Chicken McThuggets

Roast House Pub – Frederick, MD

Tonight, on this first night of live trivia of the New Year, we were absolutely packed at the Roast House! With a field entirely made up of veteran teams, house regulars and traveling teams alike, it was a hard fought, close game all night!

Highlights of the Night:

In “Close-But-No-Cigar”: Hockey always seems to be hit or miss around here, even when it’s a Winner’s Choice category. So it was interesting to see so many teams come so close, and yet be so far from the correct answer: we WERE looking for a Bobby, but of the Hull variety, not Orr. So close…

In “Who’s-Running-The-Facebook-Page”: Come on. Really? The Hint-of-the-Day for the Twilight Zone was sparkly vampires? The Teams and I unanimously agree there were better ways to get us there. Tsk tsk tsk…

In “That’s-How-You-Know-That-Right?”: So many wrestling fans in here tonight! I was always a big fan of the Undertaker, the Rock, Rey Mysterio, the Hardy Boys, and John Cena! That’s how you knew the DDT answer right? Right guys? Guys?

After 4 hard fought rounds, the final turned out to be crucial. When the dust settled, it wasn’t pretty but we had a podium.

In third place tonight, the Dewey Decimators! Tough break guys, but still a good game!

In second place, jumping up with a correct answer on the final, Spring Break Frederick! Well done guys, way to hang in there!

In first place though, holding the lead all night, they could not be stopped: Multiple Scoregasms takes it down again! Congratulations guys, great game!

For their first round category next week, the Scoregasms have Chosen “Famous Dicks.” So study up on Van Dyke, Tracy, and Nixon, and we’ll see you next time!

Until then,
Ian

Spider Kelly’s – Arlington, VA

At Spider Kelly’s in Clarendon, Eleven is a Prime Number was looking to become the first team to win three in a row all season, and although they had some tense moments after the final, they were able to hang on for the hat trick!  Magic Grits came SO CLOSE to the win, but had to settle for second.    I Don’t Think It’s Contagious jumped a number of teams after they were the only team to get the final, and took home a nice third place finish.  Next week, we start with a question on the city of Philadelphia!  ~ Matt
