Wild Wild…Monday night Pour House Pub Trivia!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Monday jammed with Will Smith on Wild, Wild West (Jim West. Desperado.) and journeyed to hell with Dante’s Inferno!
Check out those game recaps, gang.
Hot, hot, hot game of pub trivia tonight here at DRP that culminated in a tie that needed to be resolved “Canadian” style. Thanks again to everyone for coming out, and don’t forget the cash game is getting close so check the website. Here are the final results for tonight:
Jurassic Parks and Recreation in 1st
Del Ray Dummies in 2nd
Eric and the Pie Tasters in 3rd
Our first category for next week is Dr. Who.
Today’s game started out with a particularly simple question about the waterfalls of the world, asking about Victoria falls, which lies long the Zambezi river. That started the game strong for many teams, although the first round ended up pretty uneventful, other than the awesome Will Smith question, where everybody forgot that Wild Wild West was one of his most successful songs. Round two had a neat MLB question, talking about how the Cubs hold the record for most wins in a season with 116 games, even though they did it wayyyyy back in 1906. It also had a film clips question about Alec Baldwin movies, and it turns out not many people know his movies very well, as only one team even got two of them.
After halftime, round three started with a question about The Fox and the Hound, and I was surprised to find out that Kurt Russell is the voice of the hound as an adult. I never expected to hear that Kurt Russell was in a Disney film, and was NOT the villain. Round three also had one of the harder questions of the night for teams, I was shocked to find that nobody but one team knew that Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso, are the three chapters in The Divine Comedy, and only a few teams knew that the author Dante’s last name is Alighieri. So many teams thought his last name was Dante, and that the work was The Inferno, even though I said Inferno in the question. I was baffled, but hey, that happens sometimes.
In round four we had another question almost wipe the board, this time a question about the two best-selling Volkswagen models besides the Beetle. Way too many teams guessed Jetta on this one, forgetting about the Passat and the Golf, and were still throwing around some high wagers. This one definitely changed the board a ton. Otherwise nobody had any trouble… until the final question came up. The final question about The Man Who Laughs, ended up completely wiping out the bar, with nobody getting it right. Unfortunately there wasn’t any trickeration going on, so the standings didn’t change as a result. Third place tonight was the Turtleheads, nice work! Second place went to That’s a Niner, who held the top spot for most of the game. Winning tonight’s game, however, was Danny Glover, who managed to jump into first in the final round and held on, congrats!
Next week we start with a question about WWE Wrestlers of the 1980’s and 1990’s. They wanted me to do impressions, but I can only do a half Macho Man, half Hulk Hogan impression, so that was out of the question. I will see you all again next week though!
Until next time,
Another summer live trivia game and we had a lot of teams come out and compete for the prizes! A field of mostly veterans, it would be tough to pull down a win, but SOMEONE was gonna do it!
Tonight’s question of the night was Dante’s Inferno! That is precisely what most people know about the epic piece of Italian literature: Dante wrote it, it’s got “Inferno”. The other 2 parts are “Purgatorio” and “Paradiso”, together they make up THE DIVINE COMEDY! The Divine Comedy written by Dante. Dante is MOSTLY known as a mononymous author BUT he is referred to by his surname sometimes too! That surname? Alighieri. We had some teams get The Divine Comedy, some got Alighieri, but only a few got both of them for the 2 point bonus. A much NEEDED 2 points in this game.
Going into the final, I’m with Sarah and Latrilla & the Mossy Banks were quite close together, while the rest of the field trailed by about 10. The final question would decide A LOT. About half the teams got the final correct so here’s how the final question lined up the finishers. 3rd place went to Fourplay Above the Table! 2nd place was Latrilla & the Mossy Banks, and your winners tonight were I’m with Sarah! Great game all! Back in a week, keep playing with us to qualify for that Summer Tournament! See ya all!
1st Place: I’m with Sarah
2nd Place: Latrilla & the Mossy Banks
3rd Place: Fourplay Above the Table
Next week’s category: Sense 8
We had a nice turnout last night at Schroyer’s Tavern for live trivia!
Even the game itself was exciting to watch unfold! By the final question there were 5 teams in the hunt for the top 3 spots, and after the final question we still needed to use a tie breaker! After the dust settled, this is how we ended.
In 3rd place was Areola Grande! Winning the tie break for 2nd was One. Crow Short of a Murder!! Hanging on to a slim lead to win 1st place last night was Atlas Drugged!! Their pick for next weeks winners choice question is “Washed up actors” so study up, and come join us for some fun at Schroyer’s Tavern!!!

The Roast House isn’t exactly known for it’s size. So when 12 teams
pack into the place for a rousing game of Pour House Trivia you can
imagine how crazy it got!
Highlights of the Night:
In “Wild-Wild-Will-Smith”: Almost everyone got “Getting Jiggy With It”
tonight, but the only teams who thought to pick one of Smith’s movie
songs went the wrong way, with Men in Black. Tough one!
In “Hearts-of-Ice”: Apparently I’m the ONLY one who cries during the
Fox and the Hound?! What’s wrong with you people?!
In “Maybe-Not-the-Peoples’-Cars?”: The car model question was another
tough one tonight. Nobody managed to pull both the Golf and the
Passat. Many couldn’t come up with either. Guess everyone drives
The final was one of the toughest we’ve seen in a while. Only one team
managed to pull the correct answer, and it made all the difference.
In third place tonight, the Moops!
In second place tonight, Plan B!
In first place tonight, Shut Up Chris!
Congrats to my teams tonight! Next week we’re gonna start with some
Fantasy Football! It’s right around the corner so study up!
We welcomed a couple of new teams to the group of usual suspects at Spider Kelly’s in Clarendon, and even as first-timers, they were able to keep pace with our stellar crew. Jimmy’s in Vegas was at the top of the leaderboard for three rounds, but a crucial wrong answer on the 6-4-2 gave the lead to Mike Hunt Loves Hard Questions, and they never looked back! Jimmy’s in Vegas took second with Rocket Surgeons rounding out the top three. Your first category next week is uh…. ‘Deceased Prostitutes’. (NO PICTURE) ~ Matt
