Pour House pub trivia‘s Monday brought you five games of live trivia action!
We had a little sponge cake, because why not talk about food this week, of all weeks?

Blue Sky – New Market, MD
We had our second week of trivia at Blue Sky Bar and Grill, and I can’t wait for this bar to become a favorite Monday night venue for our teams. They’ve got everything! Pool tables, fooseball, darts, not to mention the great drink specials and tasty food. Veteran teams, if you’re looking to change things up from your usual venue, or maybe add another night of trivia to your season, make Blue Sky your first choice!
We had a great game, full of narrow misses and pinpoint snipes, but in the end, veteran team Comfortably Dumb eked out the win – by a single point!
They’ve chosen, “The Dead Characters of The Walking Dead” as next week’s first category. Seems like a good incentive to break out those DVD box sets. Eric will be back as your host, but I had a blast subbing in!!
Del Ray Pizza – Alexandria, VA
We keep packing the teams in here at DRP in Alexandria, even for a pre-Thanksgiving game of live trivia, thanks to you all!
Here is how this game played out: High School Prom in 1st, 3 Strangers in 2nd, and HR PuffnStuff in 3rd.
Our first category for next week is a little Constitutional Law, perhaps a reference to current events? “I am a bill, yes I’m only a bill!”

Greene Turtle was off tonight, but the first category for the MONDAY, DEC. 1: THE MOVIE FROZEN!! See you in December!! ~Torie
il Forno – Frederick, MD
The holiday season is upon us, and maybe we have that to “thank” for the amazing turn out tonight! At il Forno we had 15 teams competing for the prize tonight of Pub Trivia Night Champion! Unfortunately, only one team could take it down.
Coming out of the gate strong was Piggy Doodles. They’ve placed 3rd, 2nd, but never gotten that W before, and tonight looked like their night. The final question tonight was mega crucial though! I believe our top 2 teams going into the final, Fat Kids and Piggy Doodles, both missed the question, dropping them away from the victory. Either team would’ve won with a correct response, but way was made for the teams who were a bit behind to jump at the opportunity and make trivia night history.
3rd place went to Fat Kids are Hard to Kidnap, who missed the final and dropped a bit but managed to finish in the top 3. 2nd place went to last week’s winners, Chicken McThuggets (who were CERTAIN they had the wrong answer when they handed in their final response, only to find out that they actually had it right…). First place tonight went to a new team, a duo team, calling themselves Angry Men, who managed to jump ahead of 4 other teams to take down the victory with a correct response! Great game guys! Roast House Pub – Frederick, MD
Tonight was a mix of old and new at the Roast House, as a handful of new teams packed in to take on the house veterans in pub trivia.
Highlights of the night:
OK, OK I surrender! Clearly I am the only person in the bar who has never heard of Medger Evers. I blame the public school system, but oh well.
Guys, come on know. There is only one H in Thanksgiving. It was even written there on the page for you. Silly people…
In “Perfect timing of the night” just as I read the answer to the sponge cake question, Margaritaville comes on. Eyes widened, comprehension dawned, and foreheads were smacked. It’s never easy to watch….OK it’s pretty hilarious to watch.
The final proved to be a no brainer for the teams, so the podium was pretty set.
In third place, the Dewey Decimators! Good game guys!
In second place, Spring Break Frederick! They traded the lead all night but couldn’t hold on for the final, but still a great game!
In first place, taking it down AGAIN, was Multiple Scorgasms! The dynasty continues unabated! Congratulations on another well earned win!
For their first round category this week, they chosen Trappist Breweries. It’s a specific style of brewing beer that I know nothing about, but hey! It’s about beer, so I’m OK with it!

Spider Kelly’s – Arlington, VA
We included a little bonus NFL football (well, not really… it was the Jets) with Pour House Trivia on Monday night at Spider Kelly’s in Clarendon, and tonight’s game could not have been any closer down the stretch. After a few weeks finishing outside the top three, Magic Grits nailed several bonuses down the homestretch to take a two point lead after round four. They got their wheelhouse category on the final, took home a very impressive win. Rocket Surgeons took second, with Liquor? I Hardly Know Her! rounding out our top three. Next week, our first question will deal with the film resume of the late Mike Nichols. ~ Matt
