Where’s Herb? Pour House Trivia’s Monday!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Monday completed the search for Herb!
He was hiding out in our set the whole time, it seems. What, you don’t remember Herb? I think you might be in need of a Whopper!
Check out the games!
WOW we had 17 teams descend on DRP here in Alexandria for an EPIC game of live trivia tonight!
This place was crazy! Here are the results after the dust settled:
That Kevin Sorbo Look in 1st
Del Ray Dummies in 2nd
Del Ray Posse in 3rd
Join me here again next week where our first category will be the great state of Maine. CYA!
Greene Turtle was OFF for a charity event, but next week we will be opening up with The Lord of the Rings trilogy (the books, NOT the movies), so now’s as good a time as any to either read or re-read those great books!
Until next week,
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pub trivia set with so many things that I didn’t know that EVERYONE ELSE KNEW! Seriously, it seemed like every question I read I’m saying to myself “Okay, really? Who’s gonna know this?” Well, to answer my own question, everyone. I don’t even feel bad, I’m just impressed. I’ve never heard of Fark, Rhonda Rousey, Chambord, the Hysteria film OR the album, Who-hash. Whatever, you guys just keep it up with the correct answers.
We did have a couple bonus questions go unanswered tonight, specifically, Herb from Burger King and South Dakota being the Sunshine State. Let’s just say, I’m glad I got to host the set and not play it, haha.
Tonight’s game was neck-and-neck for a while, while MC and I’m with Sarah traded off the lead multiple times through the 3rd and 4th rounds. A crucial get on a 2-point bonus with “Leaving on a Jet Plane” propelled MC into the lead, which they held for the remainder of the game! Grats on the win, MC! 2nd went to I’m with Sarah, 3rd went to Trivia Newton John. Mostly veteran teams tonight – two things that come with a room of vets. A. The competition is always fierce and B. I don’t have to go over the rules! Both of these please me. We’ll be back next week for more trivia fun, hope you all come back to join us! Until then 😉
1st Place: MC
2nd Place: I’m with Sarah
3rd Place: Trivia Newton John
Next week’s category: The Shawshank Redemption
We had one of the biggest nights ever at the Roast House tonight! 12 teams packed into the place to battle it out in tonight’s game of pub quiz, and if you know anything about the Roast House, you know that’s a LOT for this place!
Highlights of the Night:
In “Think-About-That-For-A-Second”: When asked about the biggest countries where Portugese is an official language, Spain, the home of Spanish, is probably not your best bet…
In “Not-Forgotten-Just-Never-Known”: Who the hell has heard of Burger King’s Herb? No one here that’s for sure!
In “What-The-Bleep?!”: Fark?! What the hell is Fark?! This website is 16 years old and I’ve never heard of it! Neither had most of my teams. Seriously, where the hell did that come from?
With so many teams here tonight, it’s not surprising that the final was VERY close, and it came down to correct answers on the final.
In third place, after leading all night, School’s Out! Tough break guys, but after such a long hiatus, third ain’t bad at all!
In second place, jumping up from the pack with a correct answer, the Ollie Monsters! Good game guys, way to hang tough!
Taking it down tonight though, also with a correct answer as a duo, a traveling team: Southpaw Fish! Congratulations guys, great game!
Which of course means the house juggernauts Multiple Scoregasms have finally been knocked down a peg, but will that hold? Will Southpaw Fish return to defend the title, after choosing the Rocky franchise as their round 1 question 1 category? Guess you’ll just have to come out to the Roast House to find out! Study up, go punch some meat, and
we’ll see you next time!
It was nice not having trivia during a snowstorm for a change. We welcomed 12 teams into Spider Kelly’s on Monday night. It was a very interesting game as Double Secret Probation lead nearly the entire game, but faltered a bit in the final round. The Rocket Surgeons were the only team to get all five questions correctly and round four, and that put them into the lead. But they did not know the final question, allowing a new team: I Used to Have a Crush on Nathan Fiero, to swoop in and take the win! Great job! Rocket Surgeons did take second, with There’s Always Money in the Banana Stand taking third. Next week, our first question will involve British TV Comedy! ~ Matt
