What’d you say about my golden ratio? Thursday pub quiz
April 25, 2014
What a wild Thursday night of LIVE and LOUD Pour House pub quiz!
We had a little Dr. John injected in our lives on this fine Thursday (A 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Famer!), so I thought we’d do a little mini Dr. John playlist to listen to during your trip through the games!
We’ll start slow with a little “Such a Night”

We’ll follow that up with “My Opinianation,” the song we heard as the Blossom credits – could this sequence be any more 90s? No. The answer is no, it could not.
You fine folks at Bunkers never cease to make me laugh with our nights of bar trivia!
Happy birthday again to Brian (or is it Bryan? I am so sorry I forgot to ask!) from the Washington Foreskins – thanks again for the great cake!
We had two teams playing over the seven-player limit – those Washington Foreskins and Fat Guys in Little Coats, who placed in second and third, respectively, but weren’t eligible for prizes. Still, great game guys!
Your winners were Spam, Eggs, Sausage and Spam, who played steadily and carefully all night to lock down the win!
In second, we had Cranius Maximus – great game guys!
And in third place, Combustible Lemons!
Before I let you go, our hip-hop question generated some fun (but wrong!) answers for album of the year in 2012:
Pitbull’s “Dog House”
Drake “Degrassi: Sux” HEY YOU WATCH YOUR MOUTH TALKING ABOUT DEGRASSI!
Boom Box Buttmaster-Z “I Like Noisy HDS” Or, Hos, if you can read, which I apparently cannot!
I had a blast tonight hosting a little Pour House Trivia pub quiz at Champions. It was a beautiful day out and a great nightcap to hang with my friends and have some fun. Some moments definitely burned in my brain:
– The “Angle of the Dangle” and The Golden Ratio are close…but not synonymous 😉
– Apparently “Thong TV” needs to be a network if it ain’t already
– A Million side points to “Brain Freeze” who did a wonderful rendition of “The Kookaburra Song” tonight (and note to self: Call my Mom and ask why I was the only one in the bar tonight who had never heard of the Kookaburra song – it was sad, I was the only one in a room of 100 people NOT singing. I will get to the bottom of this!).
In between some very fun moments we squeezed in one helluva pub trivia game as well. As has been a theme lately at many games, the final tossed some things around a bit and a slippery round three and four did as well. When the game came to a close, our leader board looked like this:
1st Place: Shelby’s Heroes – a one week break and they are back in action baby!
2nd Place: Vitrifiers – as a trio! Nice game ladies…sorry I almost gave your prize $$$ away 😉
3rd Place: One Night Stand – Stayed consistent all game and sniped Shakespeare for the $$$..great work ONS!
4th and 5th shouts – FnQ and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades
Enjoy your weekend everyone…and try and get in some Indiana Jones; as the first three films will be fair game for next week’s winner’s choice question. Be well…see you next Thursday 🙂 dg
We have a new threat here at the Fish Market’s pub quiz … Two weeks in a row, our newcomers Rubber Sheets Club takes down the victory in runaway fashion.
2nd place went to a duo team of Oscar Meyer after a very well played game and Team Bill snipes 3rd as a solo player! Way to go top finishers. We’re getting close to the post season, good to see the competition coming out and fighting!
What a fun game of trivia we had at Guido’s tonight!!
It looked like it was going to be tight game all night, but with each round came more and more separation between my top three!
Before the final question it looked as though 1st place was locked up and there would only be a fight for 2nd and 3rd place, but after the final wager and question, everything switched up!!
Dropping to 3rd(I felt SOOoooo bad!) was Hate and Spite! Moving up to 2nd was Stink Floyd, and moving up to 1st place ater the final… None Pizza with Left Beef!! Nice comeback guys!!
They went with “Hannibal Lecter” for next week’s winners choice category, so study up and I hope to see everyone back next Thursday night for some live bar trivia!!
Pazullies maintain their hold on the top slot for another week in a row, but only a point separated them from rivals Clever Team Name! Will next week be the week we unseat the reigning champs?
We Are Mistaken isn’t taking anything for granted making it to the leader board in third place. But could next week be their week?
Tune in to see how this all plays out! Over the weekend catch up on your 80s movies cause there just might be a question about it at trivia 🙂
After several weeks as our runner-up, it was Lowered Expectations who earned their first win of the season (and their first win ever!) with a stellar game of Trivia at Quincy’s on Thursday night! They held the lead against a late charge by Team Depends, who took second. And it is now three straight weeks in the money for Captain Awesome and the Wonder Friends, who took third once again. Next week begins with a question on Pre-Socratic Philosophy! ~ Matt
