We Hope You Had a Berry Good Time Playing Pour House Trivia!

Let’s face it, sometimes things don’t always go as planned.  So let’s forget about those little SNAFUs that life brings us and talk about a little trivia.  Here’s a fun fact, the word SNAFU is actually a military acronym which stands for ‘Situation Normal: All Fouled Up’.  At least that’s the version I can print on this blog.  Use your imagination for the more accurate meaning.  On to the recaps!

WEEKEND STATS AND FACTS (15 teams across three venues):

–> Highest Overall Score: Boh’s and Hoes (Benders) with 173

–> Highest Score after Round 4: Uncle Jack (Belles’) with 168

SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (83.3% success rate):

–> Since Judi Dench doesn’t technically count as a ‘Bond Girl’, who is the only actress to have portrayed a Bond Girl on the big screen AFTER winning an Academy Award?

SUNDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (40.0% success rate):

–> What was the first music video from Michael Jackson to be played on MTV?

(you’ll find the answers later in this blog)

Belles’ Sports Bar in Frederick, MD

“Well I love a rainy night”, but it was nice n’ dry inside here at Belles’ for our Saturday edition of PHT!  It was pretty much a standard game with great times.  Uncle Jack pulled away in the second half, clinching the victory with a correct response on the final question, as they were able to name the only actress to have won an Oscar before portraying a Bond Girl.  Great job!  Here are the results:

First Place:  Uncle Jack

Second Place:  Turd Ferguson

Third Place:  Notch 8

Captain Benders in Sharpsburg, MD

It was a BIG night at Captain Benders this week.  Football, trivia, and the second Presidential debate made for QUITE the entertaining evening.  We started the night off with our Winner’s Choice of “There’s Something About Mary” – I hope you guys had fun studying for that one.  The first round breezed by finishing with some Films of 2016. Then we kicked off Round 2 with some Classic Guitar Riffs and wrapped it up with a Fruity Question.  Then it came down to the football themed puzzle page, you guys crushed it!

We started the second half by getting a little biological… and we finished it up with a few European countries. When it came time for Round 4, it was anybody’s game with the scores neck and neck!  It began with Recent TV Premieres and concluded with our classic Three Clues / One Word.  Alas, we still had a tie going into the final, but in the end, only two teams came up with the correct Michael Jackson song, and the final scores looked like this:

First Place:  Boh’s & Hoes

Second Place:  What Else Could it Be!?

Third Place:  Manischewitz and His Grapes of Wrath

The Beacon in Frederick, MD

Our Sunday evening game at The Beacon had a great battle to watch!  Our team that is currently leading the overall season standings had some friends visiting and decided to split into two teams.  So, each of those teams were out to prove who was the smarter half of their team!  Listening to all the friendly smack talk between them was definitely enjoyable for me!  Here are the final standings:

First Place:  Witiots

Second Place:  The Late Comers

Third Place:  Survivors
