We Hit the Bullseye (and the Buckeye) at Weekend Trivia!

Once again, Friday night featured the busiest game of the week, as 25 teams crammed into Springfield Manor Winery in Thurmont!  Overall, we welcomed 52 teams across four PHT venues:

FIRST HALF:

Opening round topics from last weekend included pharmaceuticals, former New York city Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and the recent Billboard record set by Drake, who has spent the last 29 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  We also asked our Saturday teams about the real-life inspiration behind this NFL mascot:

Vikings

Both of our weekend audio questions featured the subject of television, as our Friday teams listened to the theme song from the series “Bones”, and our Saturday teams attempted to recognize the voices of three talk show hosts.  Across both nights of trivia, each of the first two rounds yielded six perfect scores.

HALFTIME:

The weekend halftime pages featured topics such as Harrison Ford co-stars and juvenile versions of popular cartoon characters.  We saw nine teams earned 20 points, while the combined average reached 17.3 points.  Here are your highest scoring weekend teams at the halftime break:

SECOND HALF:

Second half topics from the weekend included the oldest cities in the United States (St. Augustine, Florida and Santa Fe, New Mexico), the TV series “Person of Interest”, and the Broadway musical “Evita”:

Evita

Three teams were able to earn perfect scores during the third round: Mother Cluckers Two (Springfield Manor Winery), Is Chewbacca a Nudist? (Springfield Manor Winery), and Spicey Girls (Pretzel & Pizza Creations), while the final round did not yield any perfect scores.  Here are the highest scoring weekend teams heading into the final question:

FRIDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (59.4% success rate):

–> Often kept as house pets by those seeking something different around the house, the pot-bellied pig is native to which country?

SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (50.0% success rate):

–> Closely related to the horse chestnut, the Aesculus glabra plant is more commonly known by which name that is also an official state nickname?

Respectively, the correct answers to these final questions were Vietnam and Buckeye.  Congratulations to Demented and Sad But Social (Belles’) and Tequila Mockingbird (Vanish Brewery), who each recorded the Perfect 21 this weekend with correct answers on all wagering questions.  Here are your highest overall scores from last weekend:
