Holy Sweet Toof, John Batman! We had a doozy of a live trivia game tonight at Atlantic Grille in Urbana!
Tonight we discussed the Coneheads shopping at FAO Schwarz, youth pastors named Deathwing, and the proper way to pronounce “Gouda!” Stranges Have the Best Candy took home the top prize tonight, but the fight for second place was the fiercest I’ve ever seen!
An 11th-hour tiebreaker resulted in The Penguins (PLAYING SOLO) taking second while Momzilla rounded out an impressive third.
There are times in my life when I think I reveal too much – and tonight was no exception. Because I divulged that we share both a surname AND a birthday, next week’s Winners’ Choice category is Eric Jones sings Tom Jones.

Hump day mania at Bernies trivia game tonight! Twas a fun night at the Hagerstown bar, as always. We had some of some of our regular competitors and a few new pub trivia crews try their hand at the game. And in spite of the fact that teams threw me some tough love for the fact that I had never heard of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, we managed to have a great time in spite – nuthin’ but love in Hagerstown 🙂
The first half was a tight one but Who the Hell is JFK ran away with things in Round 2 and closed out the Summer Season with a commanding win! GG JFK!
2nd Place went to our friends over at Aaron Hernandez is No Longer a Tight End, who I learned tonight, has at least one member who is a multi-sport referee! Pretty sporty 🙂 and GG tonight!
3rd Place was a close tie-breaker between Thinkers and Dreamers and Slapsgiving. It came down to a Peanuts comic strip question. And 3rd Place went to.

Final game of the pub quiz summer season and we had a packed house, including a couple new teams! Even with the new competition coming in, it was still our veterans who rose to the top. Tonight’s game featured a come-from-behind win for Team Janet! That makes 2 weeks in a row they have come-from-behind to snag the W! Congrats to them! 2nd place went to Hot Dog Stigmata, who led most of the game until after the final question. 3rd place was a tie between Trivial Pursuers and Uncle Jack, though TP was over the team limit so they forfeit the prize money to Uncle Jack. Great game tonight guys, very excited to start off the season with you all next week!
Oh my my, oh hell yes… so many teams tasted the sweet tingle of live trivia victory tonight… so close! But at the end, there could only be one and that one was Grab a Straw, You Suck! Pretty sure they may be chanting that all during season 10, the natives are getting restless! Second went to the Escapees, they are not as pleased to just be in the top three anymore – they are getting hungry. They want that win! I will say, they played a helluva game though, Damn you Hugh Jackman! Third went to Team Wednesday, can’t wait to see what you guys come out with next season. We will start it out with a Famous Villains question… seems fitting. 🙂 See you then!
Wednesday evening brought a packed house at the Tavern, with teams battling it out for live trivia supremacy! We kept things moving and shaking all night, working our way through our series of questions, and man, was there some movement on the board. Quiz in my Pants hung onto first for most of the game, but a misstep in round four bumped them down to a second place finish. Only the Lonely hung in for third, and your winners, re-appearing tonight after some time away, My Couch Pulls Out But I Don’t! They have chosen Fleetwood Mac to start Season 10, so go dust off that copy of “Rumours” and spin it all week! Tripp
We always have a good night of bar trivia at the Revolution Bar! Tonight was no exception!Highlights of the night:My vampire voice has fallen in with my Kermit the Frog. So far, only Marvin the Martian appeases. Movin on Up may be short a few players now, but that hasn’t stopped the smack talk; the popular theory amongst the other teams is that the baby has called in to help them from Boston. I personally love and endorse this thoery. It’s taken 4 months, but my mother has finally be invoked for throwaway answers. I have to say I am both impressed with your resilience and simultaneously disappointed that it took this long 😉 Third place tonight went to team 404: Answer Not Found! Good game fellas! Second went to Mess and Jegg! Ladies, well done as always! Taking first tonight though, making their Boston counterparts proud, Movin’ On Up would not be denied! Congratulations guys, well done! Movin’ On Up has chosen one of my favorite Disney films, The Lion King as the first first round category in season 10! Get watching and we’ll see you next week! Cheers, Ian
Our final game at T.J. Stone’s before the Summer Fling finals, and it was about as tight as you coudl get, as Gone Squatchin’ pulled into the lead on the last question of round four, hitting the two-point onus for their EXPERT knowledge of Taylor Swift. The B-58s were close behind, but both teams were able to hit the final question, and so it was Gone Squatchin’ who took down the win! We had some out-of-towners (from Boston, appropriately enough): Four Gear Gals and a Guy, who finished in third place on the night. Good luck to everybody and I’ll see most of you on Saturday!
Thanks again to all the fine folks who came out to play live trivia on the patio tonight at Valley Grill Sports Bar, we had a lot of fun! It was Dufregne Party of 4 who was our first place finishers, coming from behind to take down the game. After a tiebreaker, Buns of Anarchy took 2nd prize, and Southpaw Fish finished in 3rd.
