Tuesday Trivia Stuck the Landing!
Laissez les bons temps rouler! Tuesday’s games of Pour House Trivia welcomed 147 teams across 21 venues:
FIRST ROUND:
Tuesday’s first round looked at the history of Mardi Gras, the classic children’s game Hungry Hungry Hippos, and the natural habitat of these animals:
The first round also included a trio of difficult bonus questions, as only two teams earned a perfect score of 36 points: Gotta Have ‘Em (Cuginis) and Chad’s Favorites (Shuckin’ Shack).
SECOND ROUND:
Tuesday’s audio question featured French versions of popular songs, with most teams easily recognizing “Zombie” by The Cranberries, “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, and “Someone Like You” by Adele. We enjoyed a Shamrock Shake from McDonald’s and discussed the brilliant career of this recent Hall of Fame inductee:
The field experienced an easier time with Tuesday’s second stanza, as ten teams ran the table with a perfect round.
HALFTIME:
Tuesday’s halftime page depicted celebrities enjoying a visit to Mardi Gras, while the bottom half featured a matching section on other holidays. Falling on the more difficult side, the average score only reached 14.3 points. While we saw a dozen teams earn 19 points, none of our teams posted a perfect 20 on Tuesday night. Here is your halftime leaderboard on this Fat Tuesday:
- Balls Out (Quincy’s South): 90
- Cobra Kai (Brass Tap): 89
- Gotta Have ‘Em (Cuginis): 88
- Murdervinos (Cheesetique): 88
- Low Expectations (Cheesetique): 88
THIRD ROUND:
We kicked off Tuesday’s second half with a Three Clues question concerning the word ‘king’, followed by a look at the prospective Democratic candidates for the 2020 election. Next, we asked our teams to name any two of the three NFL teams that have an 0-2 record in the Super Bowl. Only 14% of the field earned bonus points with these three correct answers:
We closed the third round with this question on the topic of comic book characters:
–> The comic book characters Jean Grey, Carol Danvers, and Kamala Khan have all used superhero aliases containing which shared word?
Just under one-third of our teams answered correctly with Marvel (Marvel Girl, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel). Seven teams earned a perfect third round score on Tuesday night.
FOURTH ROUND:
Final round topics from Tuesday night included the city of Anchorage, the three colors of Mardi Gras, and the Stephen King novel “11/22/63”. We closed with a look at the noble nicknames of these jazz greats:
That’s Count Basie on the left and Duke Ellington on the right. Just as in the third round, seven teams earned a perfect final round score. Here are your highest scoring Tuesday teams heading into the final question:
- Cobra Kai (Brass Tap): 164
- Murdervinos (Cheesetique): 163
- Gouda ‘Nuff For Me (Cheesetique): 159
- Stink Floyd (Monkey La La): 159
- Low Expectations (Cheesetique): 156
- Chad’s Favorites (Shuckin’ Shack): 156
TUESDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (11.1% success rate):
–> Which 21-year-old athlete was selected by ESPN the Magazine as “The Most Dominant Athlete of 2018”?
We’re sure that most teams struggled to find a current male athlete who could dominate his sport at the young age of 21 years old, but the teams who tried to think of female athletes fared much better, as the correct response was gymnast Simone Biles. With an extremely difficult final question, only one team earned the Perfect 21 on Tuesday night: Murdervinos from Cheesetique. Here is your final Fat Tuesday leaderboard:
- Murdervinos (Cheesetique): 171
- Boy, That Escalated Quickly (Cheesetique): 166
- Cell Phony Baloney (Cheesetique): 166
- Cobra Kai (Brass Tap): 164
- Susan Rules (Brass Tap): 164
- Baby At the Bar (Charlie’s): 161
- How Did I Get Here? (Senor Tequila’s): 161
