Tuesday Trivia Makes a Hard Man Humble!

Tuesday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 93 teams across ten venues.

We began Tuesday’s game with a Triple 50/50 question involving the animal kingdom, before moving on to topics such as filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, the American Revolutionary battle of Yorktown, and Marvel Comics superhero Daredevil.  In a break from the ordinary, the opening round included two of the most difficult bonus questions of the night, with only nine correct answers in each case:

  • This director (M. Night Shyamalan) guest starred as himself on two episodes of which current NBC show?
  • This superhero (Daredevil) was portrayed by which actor on a Netflix series?

The answers to these difficult bonus questions were This Is Us and Charlie Cox.  As the only team to correctly answer both of these bonus questions, Austikee (Olney Winery) earned the only perfect score of Tuesday’s first round.

Tuesday’s audio question featured songs whose titles include the names of MLB teams.  We listened to Royals by Lorde, Red Red Wine by UB40, and She Talks to Angels by The Black Crowes.  From there, we moved on to topics such as human physiology, the sitcom The Big Bang Theory, and the mountain ranges of New York state.  With a much easier trio of bonus questions, the second round yielded 14 perfect scores.

Greek letter and fictitious television schools were the featured topics on Tuesday’s halftime page.  The overall average reached 14.8 points, with ten teams posting a perfect score.  Here is Tuesday’s halftime leaderboard:

Our Tuesday teams encountered a much more difficult set of questions in their third round, as we discussed the television character of Archie Bunker, the music of Ed Sheeran, and the ancient Battle of Actium.  A three-part question regarding authors depicted in film provided our teams with the most difficult wagering and bonus questions of the night:

  • Phillip Seymour Hoffman won an Oscar for his portrayal of this author of In Cold Blood.
  • This author of Infinite Jest was portrayed by Jason Segel in the film The End of the Tour.
  • In the film Saving Mr. Banks, Emma Thompson portrayed this author of Mary Poppins.

Only 40% earned wagering points with any two correct answers, while only six teams picked up two bonus points by giving us all three correct answers of Truman Capote, David Foster Wallace, and P. L. Travers.  None of our Tuesday teams notched a perfect third round score.

After discussing Neil Patrick Harris in the 6-4-2 question, we touch on final round topics such as Jewish holidays, the city of Bangkok, the various classifications of NHL goals, and the company Staples.  Our stellar Tuesday teams cruised through this final round, as a whopping 16 teams notched a perfect score.  After four rounds of play, these were your highest scoring Tuesday teams:

FINAL QUESTION (51.6% success rate):

  • Which two-digit number contains the most letters when expressed properly using Roman numerals?

Just over half of our Tuesday teams responded correctly with 88 (LXXXVIII).  The Perfect 21 eluded the entire field on Tuesday, as none of our teams correctly answered all 21 wagering questions.  Here is Tuesday’s final overall leaderboard:
