Tuesday Trivia By the Dashboard Light…

Tuesday night’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 97 teams across 14 venues:

FIRST ROUND:

It was smooth sailing for most of the field during the opening stanza, until this Three Clues question ruined nearly all of the perfect scores:

CLUE 1: This four-letter word was found in the original name of Playboy magazine.

CLUE 2: In finance, this is a slang term for a short-term speculator.

Very few teams ventured a guess at this point, leading to just four teams earning bonus points.  Most of the teams that were patient enough for the third clue earned their wager with the correct answer of stag.  We closed the first round by asking our teams to name this undersea explorer:

In a rare occurrence, only ONE TEAM recorded a perfect first round score: Void By Armani (Quincy’s South).

SECOND ROUND:

The second round audio question dealt with the films of Bruce Willis, specifically “Armageddon”, “(Disney’s) The Kid”, and “12 Monkeys”.  Later, we discussed Michael Jackson’s planned “This Is It” concert residency in London, Bobcat construction equipment, and this recent sitcom:

Seven teams ran the table in the second round with 36 points.

HALFTIME:

Tuesday’s halftime page featured pictures of films with questions as titles, with a couple of obscure flicks (“What’s New Pussycat?” and “Shall We Dance?”) keeping the perfect scores of the board.  Seven teams topped out at 19 points, but no one was able to reach 20 points on Tuesday night.  These were your highest scoring first half teams from Tuesday night:

The die-hard football fans were happy to begin Tuesday’s second half with a question on this Hall of Famer:

Tony Dorsett

A rather difficult bonus question was included on the question about Cowboys legend Tony Dorsett, as only 13% of our teams knew that he finished his NFL career with the Denver Broncos.  Other third round topics included the dating app Grindr, the current HBO miniseries “Sharp Objects, and the Biblical story of the Prodigal Son.  Three teams posted a perfect third round score: Title One Forever (The Block), Breadsticks (Upper Deck), and Wolfpack (Quincy’s South).

FOURTH ROUND:

After the 6-4-2 question quizzed our teams on the film “Rudy”, we looked at this classic rock album:

Later, we enjoyed a Last Word / First Word question which featured the answer of “The Old Man and the Sea of Tranquility”, before closing with a three-part question on names which are also gemstones.  The final round did not yield any perfect scores.  Here is your Tuesday leaderboard after four rounds of play:

TUESDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (9.2% success rate):

In a crazy coincidence, exactly NINE teams across the board earned points on the final question with the correct answer of the NINTH Amendment.  Even with this difficult final question, two teams managed to secure the Perfect 21 with correct answers on all wagering questions: Void By Armani (Quincy’s South) and Drink Apple Juice, the O.J.
