Tuesday Night Featured a Landslide Victory… For Trivia Players!
While some of you were wrestling with a rather tough decision on Tuesday, it appeared that one easy decision involved going out to play some trivia! Pour House Trivia welcomed its newest venue, as Quincy’s in Bethesda kicked off its weekly trivia night. But that was just one of 13 venues hosting a game last night. Let’s check out the recap!
TUESDAY’S STATS AND FACTS (77 teams across 13 venues):
–> Highest Overall Score: Milwaukee Beers (FireFlies) with 177
–> Highest Score after Round 4: Milwaukee Beers (FireFlies) with 165
–> Highest First Half Score: Sofa King Smart (Quincy’s South) with 91
–> Perfect 21 (correct on all wagers and final): Comfortably Dum (Champion Billiards), And We’re All Out of Bubblegum (Champion Billiards), Suck It Trebek (Orioles Nest), The Fan Club (Senor Tequila’s), Sofa King Smart (Quincy’s South), Wingardium Triviosa (Quincy’s South), Milwaukee Beers (FireFlies)
–> The halftime page played slightly easier than normal with an average of 18.0, but because of one rather difficult picture, only two teams scored a perfect 20: And We’re All Out of Bubblegum (Champion Billiards) and Hillary Did Harambe (Capitol City Brewing).
–> The 6-4-2 question proved to be a bit tougher, with only four teams earning six points by knowing the world’s most populous country with a four-letter name is Iran.
–> For the second week in a row, Milwaukee Beers rolled through tonight’s set, scoring the highest totals of the night, and running its winning streak to eight games at FireFlies!
TONIGHT’S FINAL QUESTION (38.3% success rate):
–> Throughout U.S. history, four men have lost the presidential election but later went on to win the election against the same individual four years later. Name ANY TWO of these four men. (you’ll find the answer later in this blog)
What an unbelievable night! A formidable front-runner maintained an apparently insurmountable lead, from the start of the contest all the way up to the brink of the final showdown. An underdog challenger took advantage of the front-runner’s caution in the last moments, betting it all and coming up huge to claim victory! Obviously I’m referring to the historic upset last night at Cap City, where the Valley Girls (represented by only two players, styling themselves “Heckle & Jeckle”) shocked the crowd by seizing first place from “Show Me on the Doll” with the final question. Both teams got it right – but S.M.o.t.D. wagered very conservatively, allowing the dynamic duo to achieve a thrilling come-from-behind win.
Tips of the proverbial hat to “Hillary Did Harambe” for being one of the only teams nationwide to score a perfect 20 at halftime, and to newcomers “Pence and Penceability” for correctly answering Iran on that tough 6-point clue. Your final top three:
First Place: Heckle & Jeckle (a.k.a. Valley Girls)
Second Place: Show Me on the Doll
Third Place: Hillary Did Harambe

Election night trivia here at Cugini’s and it just goes to show that trivia truly is the ointment of civil discourse! We cheered, we laughed, and we wondered who in the heck would arrive at the answer for our 1st question in the 3rd round after THOSE first two clues. Love you tomorrow despite what happens tonight! Here are the results:
First Place: MoMo
Second Place: Five Must Get Beers
Third Place: Drunk and Disorderly
Next week’s first category: “Anne of Green Gables”
Next week’s first category: “Beverly Hills 90210”
Another game in the books at Tilted Kilt, and one game closer to World Series! Teams answered everything we threw at them, and were hungry for more, keeping scores high and close all the way to the finish!
First Place: Manischewitz and His Grapes of Wrath
Second Place: Poovey Farms
Third Place: Book Club Babes
Next week’s first category: Veterinary Science
See you next week,
It’s hard to put into words a game like tonight. When something as big as the election is going on in the background, it’s hard for everyone to concentrate. But we got through our game of Pour House Trivia here at Senor Tequilas in regular fashion.
Highlights of the Night:
In “Ian-Can’t-Word-Good”: Kitaigorod. I have absolutely no idea if I’m even close to pronouncing this word right, and frankly my dear I don’t give a damn. Considering all the other words I was tripping over tonight, I can leave that one.
In “Aggressive-and-Wrong”: All my teams went on the 6 point clue tonight on Laos. They heard Asian country with 4 letter name and thought it too good to pass up. Sometimes it pays to be more reserved guys!
In “Last-Second-Change-Ups”: Due to some strategic (or perhaps not so strategic) wagering, the final tonight led us to a tiebreaker. How would things end up?
In third place tonight, losing the tiebreaker, Axl’s Doghouse!
In second place tonight, pulling out the tie win, Beer Pressure!
In first place tonight, the Fan Club!
Great game everyone! Next week we’ll kick things off with a Luke Cage question! Study up on Powerman, and we’ll see you next time.
Well, it was Election Night. The nightmare seemed like it would never end; and for those teams dying to overcome Milwaukee Beers… well, it continued. Beers managed a handy victory despite an upstart Milwaukee is the Fourth Worst City in the Universe (temporarily named, and aka Quizlamic State). Our round scores were interspersed with return results, but alas, the Final Question stumped even the most ardent politics and trivia afficionados: only one team (yes, it was Beers) answered correctly. Worst City managed a clever wagered zero and finished third. Next week: either the apocalypse or MORE TRIVIA.
First Place: Milwaukee Beers
Second Place: No Tears for Beers
Third Place: Milwaukee is the Fourth Worst City in the Universe

We took a break from bellyaching about the election to open up a brand new Pour House venue – Quincy’s in Bethesda! We’re looking forward to growing this venue and seeing many new faces join us!
Catching Planes couldn’t be caught and took the top spot with a whopping 160 points! MCL took second with Team Black and Yellow joining in just for fun. Next week’s winner’s choice category is Business Ethics – might I suggest researching Enron and Bernie Madoff to learn what business ethics is NOT?
See ya next week!

Packed house at Quincy’s tonight despite an early start time. Sorry if we threw some people off but we wanted to get done in time to catch the end of this crazy and historic election! Had a bit of an “Election” Theme night tonight at trivia, most teams handling it just fine.
Uncle Jack coming out strong tonight, holding the lead for most of the first half. A hard question on the halftime page stumped EVERYONE in the bar tonight, even myself! A musical act’s logo with “JB” in it… Most everyone put “Justin Bieber”. I failed to look at the answer sheet correctly and just assumed everyone knew it so I gave everyone credit for Justin Bieber. Upon looking at the answer key, I noticed it was ACTUALLY the Jonas Brothers. Whoops! No perfect halftime pages for that reason.
Game was quite tame for the rest of the 2nd half. Going into the final we had a mighty close game, Uncle Jack leading by a single point. They would win if they could get the final correct, and they did just that, taking the victory tonight! 2nd place to Sofa King Smart and 3rd going to Wingardium Triviosa who jumped up a bit with a correct response on the final as well. That’s the game this week, back next week at our NORMAL time, 7:30pm. See ya then.

While the top topic tonight was the election, we were able to find a little sparkle in our trivia game. Boogie Friends made a play for top slot, coming in first, 11 years is starting to get used to the view from the second place platform. Donni 1957 came in hot with 3rd place. Game was tough but fun, but a few teams came up with the correct respone on the final question, with the answers including Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison, and Grover Cleveland. America, no matter what, you’re great!
