–> Highest Score after Round 4: Uncle Jack with 159
–> Highest First Half Score: Demented and Sad But Social with 88

–> Our “G” rated cartoon characters theme for halftime was on the difficult side, yielding an average of 15.9, with seven teams scoring a perfect 20 points.
–> The first clue on the 6-4-2 question was slightly easier, with about 22% of our teams knowing that the only Fox series to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama is “24”.
TONIGHT’S FINAL QUESTION (40.8% success rate):
–> Split between the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones, what is currently the most populous U.S. state with only one area code? (you’ll find the answer later in this blog)
Whole Foods Market in Ashburn, VA
I had the pleasure of hosting my first game at Whole Foods Market in Ashburn tonight! All I can say is… what great competition at a great venue! Four teams battled head-to-head near the top of the leaderboard the entire way through, with no team giving any ground until the final question. Just Two kept the lead through the majority of the game with Mind Benders on their heels the whole night, and Liquid Almonds always within striking distance. The final question ended up being the decider, with teams giving me four different answers, but only one team getting the correct response of Idaho. Mind Benders jumped past Just Two to take the victory. Just Two held onto second place while Liquid Almonds took home third.
Our next game will take place April 4, in which our first category that night will be The Beatles!

Capitol City Brewing in Arlington, VA
Another thrilling Cap City trivia night is in the books! Seventeen teams joined the fray, joined by one very prominent newcomer, who had his own unique take on the night’s events:
I guess Mom was right; you just can’t please everyone. Here’s your top three:
First Place: Capitol City Goofballs
Second Place: God Complex Particles
Third Place: Hillary Did Harambe

Next week’s first category: Florida Gators Basketball
Champion Billiards in Frederick, MD
We had an intimate night here at Champion Billiards in Frederick, with ten teams joining us for Tuesday night Pour House Trivia. I am guessing our regulars were worried about how sweet they are and being out in that rain 😉 I can’t say that I blame you, it’s a good night to curl up with something – we just chose to curl you with a beer and some good company! The normal suspects were up to the normal shenanigans but it was all in good fun – Jungle Fever didn’t even trip Chuck tonight! I was just as happy to see you all, no baked goods tonight, but I still love spending my Tuesdays with this crew. No bribery needed.
Speaking of bribery! That final question! Our answers were split right down the middle, on right versus wrong answers, and I really liked that question. It was a solid final for our solid teams. After working through a little U.S. geography, it was the Crystal Methodists who finished in third place. Our second place prize went to the Other Sarah, while Wiseacres held off the competition and pulled themselves another first place finish! They were able to bounce back from a potentially disastrous blunder on the 6-4-2, taking the lead in the final round and never looking back. Always a force to be reckoned with, they are in top form these days with their third win in a row and their fifth win in the first six weeks of Season XV.
Next week’s first category: Movie Yells and Screams. We’ll see if it’s an audio question or not 😉

Cugini’s Restaurant in Poolesville, MD
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day… Yep, it’s raining, it’s Tuesday, that means we MUST be at Cugini’s in Poolesville, I swear you folks must know the best deal online to buy galoshes. Man, we breezed through the first round tonight, identifying Christmas trees, hurricanes, crappy Mila Kunis movies, and figuring out how to get to Madison Square Garden. Practice. Round two was equaled to round one in its smoothness, with our subjects being the home state of Davy Crockett, Scarlett Johansson’s sexy voice, and this classic sitcom featuring a comedic spin on some popular horror characters:
The third round showed us just how popular the dollar is, just how crazy Gaddafi was, and told us just how well regarded Sigourney Weaver is as an action hero:
Our final round featured Tiffany’s ability to trademark a color (I didn’t know that was possible), two hit songs by the duo LMFAO, and this Republican, vice-presidential hopeful, and former Governor of Alaska:
It was a great game, with a really close score decided on the final question. Here are the results:
First Place: Drunk and Disorderly
Second Place: No Clue
Third Place: Lightfoot
Next week’s first category: “Rogue One”

Tilted Kilt in Frederick, MD
It was a fun game this week at Tilted Kilt in Frederick, with veterans of Pour House Trivia from all over playing tonight, along with some out of towners! And yes, I agree and The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Munsters are, conceptually the same show. Poovey Farms had the game locked up headed into the final, but the rest of the field was anybody’s game.
First Place: Poovey Farms
Second Place: Hookers and Blackjack
Third Place: Wyld Stallyons
Next week’s first category: Technical Theatre
This one’s for you, theatre nerds! See you next week!

Senor Tequila’s in Germantown, MD
It may have been miserable and dreary outside, but our game of Pour House Trivia was exciting right from the get-go and all the way to the final here at Senor Tequilas!
Highlights of the Night:
In “You-Poor-Uncultured-Masses”: Even with a little audio help, only one team was able to identify the Hamilton song for our Winner’s Choice category this week! Y’all couldn’t take an hour to listen to the soundtrack?? Come on now, it’s the biggest musical smash in ages! It’s on music apps, go listen to it!
In “What-Makes-A-Hero”: The Female Film heroes was a hot topic tonight, with teams pulling out excellent answers like Mulan, Princess Leia, Norma Rae, and Sarah Connors. That top 50 list is really tight, let alone the top 10, and Norma Rae and Sarah Conners are in the top 50. Just a really tough one, but not a bad answer in the bunch.
In “Wait-What??-Why-Do-You-All-Know-This??”: I barely needed 30 seconds, let alone a full two minutes before every team had turned in their Tiffany and Co answers. Light-medium Robin Egg Blue?? That’s all you all needed?? How? Why do you know this?! Are you all out buying diamonds?? I can barely get rent paid each month! I don’t understand!
It came down to a nailbiter of a final question tonight, and correct answers were key!
In third place tonight, jumping up with a correct answer, Quiz in my Pants!
In second place tonight, after leading the whole game, they couldn’t seal the deal unfortunately, Beer Pressure!
In first place tonight, pulling out the correct answer and nosing past Beer Pressure for the win, the Fan Club!
Great game everyone! Next week we’ll kick things off with an African Borders question! Study up, and we’ll see you next time! Until then…

FireFlies in Alexandria, VA
Y’all had me worried, when at 6:45, there was just one team ready to play at FireFlies! But the rain did not keep everyone away, as five teams were ready to go by 7:02! 😉 During the first round, our teams really rocked it, with only two missed questions OVERALL. The easiest question being the eye of the hurricane question, but the toughest bonus was naming the year Madison Square Garden opened. Round 2 saw similar results with only two missed wagers during the entire round. The audio clue went better than expected – these guys know their TV! I thought “The Munsters” would be a tough one, as well as “Fresh off the Boat”, but not for this group! The toughest question of the round was question four: when given Encore, Envision, and Enclave, only three teams could name Buick as the GM brand. And no one was able to name Laurence Olivier in the bonus question about who played Douglas MacArthur in a 1981 film. There were no perfect scores on the halftime puzzle this time around.
The first question of Round first question ended up as the toughest question of the half, even with multiple choice options. It was Gaddafi who employed an all-female security team. Speaking of females, the last question of the third round really had me thinking that either we need more lady film heroes or AFI needs to re-think their list. When asked “these are the only two female characters to appear in the Top 10 of the American Film Institute’s List of the greatest film heroes” – almost all the teams immediately named Ripley from Alien, and two more teams earned bonus points with Clarice Starling. No love for Leia? She’s a hero in my book 😉
For the 6-4-2 question, no one was brave enough to answer the six-point clue, but the four-point clue lead most to correctly answer the Fox series “24”. Round 4 was tough when it came to bonuses – only one team could name Baibu as the Chinese website that ranked 4th on the Alexa list, and NOBODY could tell me the name shared by the LMFAO duo (Gordy). The final question was easy for three of our teams, but it was Einhorn is Finkle, Finkle is Einhorn that really stuck it to them this week!
First Place: Einhorn is Finkle, Finkle is Einhorn
Second Place: Fun Squad
Third Place: Dennis Hoffman’s Pants
Next week’s first category: Celine Dion
See You Next Tuesday!

Shuckin’ Shack in Frederick, MD
Our third week at Shuckin’ Shack in Frederick was another huge success. Definitely a full house: 13 teams! Once again, we welcomed a couple new teams, and they valiantly stuck through to the end, despite the fierce competition. For example, the difference between being in the money and not being in the money this week was all of a single point!
I will call out one team in particular, One Dematha, only because it is certifiably the strangest team name I’ve yet encountered. I’m a little afraid to ask to what it refers…
Tonight’s final question was a huge mover on the leader board: with the exception of one team, it was DOWN. That certainly made things interesting! Y’all proved two things tonight: 1) you don’t visit Dixie; 2) you haven’t traveled west of the Mississippi! Get out of town, folks! There’s interesting things to see out there, like Idaho – the most populous state with its own area code 🙂
Here’s tonight’s finishers:
First Place: Mother Shuckers
Second Place: Donner Party
Third Place: South Street Crew
Next week’s first category: Bed, Bath and Beyond (the retail store, specifically, as if there’s other versions…?)
Lastly: GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY (next year). Fair Winds, teams…

Top Golf in Ashburn, VA
It was a drizzly night, but that didn’t stop the golfers nor the Pour House Trivia! As teams came out for some fun and food, it was a close game for the first two rounds, but after the puzzle, some gained ground with some knowledge on Authors and Baseball (its important to be well rounded!)
We had a tie for second between ‘Irish Trash Cans’ and ‘Drink Apple Juice, O.J. Will Kill You’, with the first tie breaker being a tie again with BOTH teams giving me the exact same answer. After I had to scramble to make a new tie-breaking question, second place went to Irish Trash Cans! Here are your top three teams:
First Place: Kelly’s Heroes (three in a row!)
Second Place: Irish Trash Cans
Third Place: Drink Apple Juice, O.J. Will Kill You
Next week’s first category: Green Day! Don’t be an American Idiot and miss it…

Primanti Brothers in Hagerstown, MD
We had a grand old time with a bunch of new teams at Primanti Brothers in Hagerstown last night! I want to welcome three new teams: You Pick a Team Name, We’re Not That Creative, and the Legends. The duo of You Pick a Team Name took a strong lead that they never let go of. We Don’t Even Know is starting to get into their groove with a second place finish, while the newly minted We’re Not That Creative grabbed third place.
