Trick or Treat… or Trivia!
Wednesday’s Halloween edition of Pour House Trivia welcomed 82 teams across eight venues. Not only did our teams from Quinn’s on the Corner dominate the overall leaderboard, but they dominated in the costume department as well:
FIRST ROUND:
Wednesday’s game opened with a question concerning James Bond actors, which also gave us the most difficult bonus question of the first round, as only 19% of our teams knew that George Lazenby’s only turn as ‘007’ came in the film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. Later, we looked at the origins of the Jack-O’-Lantern, board game geography, and these celebrities who share the same first name:
Eight teams began their night with a perfect first round score, with five of those teams playing at Quinn’s on the Corner.
SECOND ROUND:
Wednesday’s audio selection included clips from “Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon, “Dragula” by Rob Zombie, and “The Monster” by Eminem and Rihanna. Other second round topics included Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Space Needle, and this arctic creature:
A pair of difficult bonus questions kept the perfect scores off the board in the second round.
HALFTIME:
Appropriately, candy bars was the featured topic of Wednesday’s halftime page, which yielded nine perfect scores and an overall average of 16.9 points. These were your highest scoring Wednesday teams at the break:
- Kitten Mittens (Quinn’s): 87
- It’s Mueller Time (Quinn’s): 87
- My Black Hole Just Exploded (Quinn’s): 87
- A Small Foreign Faction (Quinn’s): 87
- Drunk Savants (Valley Grill): 87
THIRD ROUND:
Wednesday’s second half began with a three-part question concerning revoked awards and honors, as we discussed the devious exploits of Reggie Bush, Milli Vanilli, and Marion Jones. We continued with a look at Vincent Van Gogh, Alessandro Volta, and this TV star:
None of our teams managed to run the table with a perfect third round score.
FOURTH ROUND:
Final round topics included World War II history, the music of Duke Ellington, and these two Tom Hanks roles:
We took a quick trip to Transylvania (in Romania) before closing with a look at acronyms which contain the letter ‘E’. Two teams swept Wednesday’s final round: Fat Kids Are Hard to Kidnap (Valley Grill) and Save the Clock Tower (Barefoot Bernie’s). These were your highest scoring Wednesday teams after four rounds of play:
- Kitten Mittens (Quinn’s): 159
- My Black Hole Just Exploded (Quinn’s): 159
- Save Greendale Committee (Quinn’s): 156
- Save the Clock Tower (Barefoot Bernie’s): 156
- It’s Mueller Time (Quinn’s): 155
WEDNESDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (57.3% success rate):
–> Born just outside of Bangkok in 1811, two brothers with the last name of Bunker are best-known today for inspiring what term that is now considered to be politically incorrect?
So… we’ll skip posting some of the incorrect responses we received. Apparently, hinting that a phrase is “politically incorrect” is not a good idea with semi-drunk people. The answer we were looking for was Siamese Twins. Congratulations to Kitten Mittens (Quinn’s), It’s Mueller Time (Quinn’s), and Space Force Marching Band (Memories), as the only three teams to notch the Perfect 21 on Wednesday night. Here is your final leaderboard for this Halloween edition of Pour House Trivia:
- Kitten Mittens (Quinn’s): 171
- Save Greendale Committee (Quinn’s): 168
- It’s Mueller Time (Quinn’s): 165
