Tonka Trucks, Trapper Keepers and Third Basemen! What a Thursday of Pour House Pub Trivia!

Pour House pub trivia’s Thursday night was jam packed with live trivia action!

We had a little Tonka Truck action, which is one of those toys that it’s hard to believe existed, given our current safety protocols. You could kill someone with one of those trucks!

Bunkers – Leesburg, Virginia

It was a very rare PUN-FREE edition of Thursday trivia at Bunkers!

I know some of you were sad to see them go, but have no fear – puns WILL return, like Batman, when they’re needed.

Mr. T was a popular wrong answer tonight, popping up as both an extra Dancing with the Stars dancer AND the head of the Jefferson clan. I would be interested in both of those versions of those shows, I think!

As always, we had fun, mostly in making fun of my inability to speak foreign languages, or in reading every single word on the page. I know, I know. I need to work on it!

The final question caused quite a ruckus, knocking nearly everyone down quite a few pegs.

In third, after it all fell down, were the Indians!

In second, by just a SINGLE point, Cranius Maximus!

And winning the whole enchilada, in a spot they’re getting kind of used to, Team Spam!

The have chosen Ska to start it off next week, so crank up those tunes this week, and I’ll see you next Thursday!

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

Quilting! Apparently I’m gonna have to take a class on this. It is serious bid-ness. That was our answer of the night tonight at our lil’ pub trivia contest over yonder at Champions!

Along with learning all of the nuances of quilts, duvets, and comforters we had one fantastic trivia game tonight! It was one of those up and down, topsy-turvy, games of craziness filled with masterful wagering, snipe from behinds, come backs, and loop-d-loops! The final hit…and it hit hard! The Red Sea parted the scoreboard one final time…And after all was said and done here was our Top 3 tonight!

Thanks for playing tonight everyone. Silent Titty Deadly Bang chose “Game Shows of the 1970s” for R1Q1 next week. With that, I wish all of you a wonderful weekend. And I will see you soon…dg 🙂

Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia

What a wild night of live trivia at the Fish Market! With Mr. Bill Patschak out of town for the weekend, I was glad to step in for the night, and I’m glad I did because it was a blast!

Highlights of the night:

Let’s just get it out of the way: my Spanish is horrible. I’m sorry you had to sit there and listen to me attempt it.

Gone Squatchin’ kept me on my toes all night, even if they got a little jumpy at the little girl running answers for team Jayhawkers. Have you all never seen a child before??

We had a couple of doozys tonight. Duvets and Quilts may both be warm and comfy but only one is technically Latin. And that final? Eek! Who would prevail!

As it turns out the only team who got a correct answer on the final, was the team who didn’t need the points! Congrats to You’re Killing Me Smalls for taking it down, leading the whole night!

In second, with a strategic 0 wager that let them jump up, came Sic Semper Tyrannis (Who incidentally, were the only team to get Quilt correct. Because, you know, Latin) Well played guys!

Rounding out the top three was Humanta Ray, also with a strategic wager! Congrats guys, good game!

You’re Killing Me Smalls has chosen U.S. Army Acronyms for their first round category for next week! Study up guys!

Bill will be back next week, but I want to say thank you guys for having me! I had a great time, and I hope you did too!

Until then,
Ian

Guido’s – Frederick, MD

We had a nice turnout tonight at Guido’s Speakeasy for bar trivia, so thank you to my teams who made it out! It was a good game that was mostly drama-free going into the end of the game.

Finishing third tonight was None Pizza with Left Beef, in second was Esophagus Now!

And winning the game tonight, holding onto first from the end of round one and never looking back, welcome back to the winners circle T.N.C.!

They finally decided on “Triple 50/50: Lincoln or Douglas” for next weeks winners choice category, so study up, and I hope to see even MORE of my teams back next Thursday night for trivia!!

Main Street Oyster House -Bel Air, MD

Lets just say it: my Spanish is really rusty. Tonight’s game was awesome, Clever Team Name maintained their hold on 1st place, which makes this officially a winning streak. 14 Years celebrated 14 years together with a 2nd place win, and Meat Tornado wasn’t taking no bueno for an answer, and they stole 3rd!

Next week we have Heisman Trophy winners to look forward to!

Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland

Thanks to all the wonderful folks at Quincy’s in Gaithersburg for allowing me to step in for Matt and run a game of pub quiz for ya, it was a lot of fun!

Quiz in My Pants were our 1st place finishers, with Barack You Like a Hurricane nailing the final to take 2nd!

Uncle Jack wagered well, and secured the 3rd place slot. Matt will return next week, where your first category will be IRS Tax Code.
