Thursday’s round of Pour House pub trivia brings us Maple Leafs, fear of clowns and Syracuse basketball! Read more on the blog!

We finally got a break from the winter weather that’s been kicking our butt all week and had a wonderful Thursday night of pub trivia!

As always, we expanded our brains, and our horizons, with new information about Wichita (the Shockers?!), just why Stephen King’s IT is so terrifying and what the heck that A.C.E. is in your movie credits.

Bunkers – Leesburg, Virginia

It was an emotional evening at Bunkers, as Sam concluded her very, very long run of hosting games here!

Gifts, an incredible cake and some big hugs were the order of the day, as 10 teams sent Sam off with an incredible reception.

I felt the love being transferred as I took over hosting duties for the evening in the second half.

Some things we learned:

  • Putting down rainbow does not, in fact, cover you for every color possibility.
  • Your teammate’s tattoos might not be as helpful as you might think!
It was a very, very close game – one that had a third place tie that had to be settled! Just three points separated first and third place!

Third place went home with Thundercats! HOOOOOOOOOOO!

Second place was Spam, Eggs, Bacon and Spam!

And your winners, with 154 points, Thoroughly Confused!

Next week’s first category is Hall of Fame band, Rush!

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

20 teams came out to Champion Billiards for some Pour House Trivia this evening. And what a great game we had – and a close one. It was neck and neck most of the night between about 15 teams. The 6-4-2 rattled it up and tossed Stink Floyd the lead going into the 4th Round. And they pushed that lead right on in for the W over 19 other trivia teams! Congrats Stink…tough game…well earned!

Now let’s talk about 2nd Place. 11 points behind 1st going into the final meant 10th Place for Laqueefa. But hey, LaQueefa is a team of fighters my friends. After an earlier bonus chip miss on Mariah Carey (incidentally, they saw the Facebook hint and were convinced it was Kathy Lee Gifford) our friends over at Laqueefa bared down, rally capped and pulled Jamie Foxx out of the old Mankiewicz for the leap frog to second over 8 other teams. BOOM! 2nd Place! Awesome work LaQueefa!

The Top 3 was rounded out by Shelby’s Heroes, a team who does a darn good job of Top 3-ing at Champions – No Easy Feat! Id like to also give some 4th and 5th Place props to FnQ and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, who get a few extra points for  their showing tonight!

Thanx for coming out tonight everyone… and here are my Top 3 Reflections of the night:

1. Let’s face it..when Jupiter is an answer…Uranaus is an answer.
2. When Uranus is an answer, my inner 7th Grader comes out and have difficult time NOT making silly Uranus jokes.
3. For example— What is Uranus’ favorite video game?– A: Call of “dooty”
Aaaargggh! SEE!  I can’t stop it…I cant stop!!

Remember next Thursday Champions trivia is OFF as they are having a concert. I will see you all in 2 weeks when we start of with “Condiments,” courtesy of Stink Floyd. Yum!

Til then…be well my friends..see ya soon… dg :)

Dan’s Restaurant – Boonsboro, MD

We had our inaugural game of Pour House Trivia at Dan’s Restaurant and Taphouse in historic Boonsboro, Maryland!

Thanks to all of the team’s for making the game a complete success. Fat Kids are Hard to Kidnap came to play, and took down top prize and $50 in cash for our venue opener!

Fisted Sister played a strong game, and with a strategic final wager came out in a fine 2nd place showing. Give it up for Big Test Icicles for rounding out the top tier with 3rd. Join us again next week, where our first category will be the Periodic Table of Elements. ~ Ronnie

Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia

Put It on Seabass’ Tab, last season’s house champions,  finished dead last in our first game of the season last Thursday. This week, they were mad and hungry for the victory. It showed as they stayed in the top place all night and locked up the victory, being the only team to go into final question with over 150 points! Good game Seabass!

The battle for 2nd and 3rd was fierce as we had Humantaray and Big Test Icicles tied in the 2nd spot going into the final.

With incorrect answers across the board, the teams in 4th and 6th managed to finish in our 2nd and 3rd place spots with strategic defensive wagers of Zero. Congrats to Domari Nolo and Gone Squatchin’ for a good finish!

1st: Put It on Seabass’ Tab
2nd: Domari Nolo
3rd: Gone Squatchin’

Guidos – Frederick, MD

An excellent game tonight at Guido’s!!

We had 4th Spy steal third, sneaking themselves onto the winner’s podium after a strategic final wager! In second was TNC with an equally strategic final wager, solidifying the silver medal!

Up top, however, were the underdogs of the evening, being the only team to get the final question right: DIE FRISCHMACHER!!

Their choice of first category for next week: PHILLIP SEYMOR HOFFMAN! See you next week! ~Torie

Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland

Pour House Trivia made its return to Quincy’s in Gaithersburg on Thursday night, and we welcomed a few new faces along with the regular crew, but everybody was glad to be back.  In order to kickoff Season IX, we decided to sweeten the pot with an extra $50 in cash for the prize pool.  After a close game, Depends pulled away from the pack with a stellar fourth round, and they were the only team to get the final correct (to much jubilation), and took home the win to start he new season!  Uncle Jack took second while the Rocket Surgeons took third.  Next week starts with a question on the Star Wars franchise!  ~ Matt
