Thursdays make me thirsty…for Pour House pub trivia! Read on for a full recap!

My, oh my, it was a packed-to-the-gills Thursday evening of Pour House pub trivia!

Some fun facts of the evening:

  • Dan A-Y-K-R-O-Y-D has a very deceptively tough to spell last name!
  • Analogies are infinitely more interesting when the Transformers are involved! I wish they had them like that on my SAT test.
  • As nuclear-hot as One Direction are, they’ve NEVER topped the Billboard Hot 100!

As always, you can count on Pour House pub trivia to teach you the things you need to know!

A full recap is below:

Bunkers – Leesburg, Virginia

Man, oh man. What a wild, wild night this evening!

There were SIXTEEN TEAMS in Bunkers, and it was TOTALLY JAM PACKED! I had a lot of fun, though you all kept me on my toes all night.

Here, in no particular order, are my favorite incorrect answers of the night:

  • On our audio TV clue: That one show that stars those people
  • The place in New Orleans that was the ruin of many a poor boy? Something on Bourbon Street! Probably true, but not the lyrics!
  • For our analogy with the Transformers, trying to find out the big baddie: The Scary Black Robot

I love the creativity. Keep it up!

Just THREE points kept separated first place and third place tonight, and the rest of the field was not far behind!

Our third place team, new faces Nirci’s Heroes!

Second place went home with Blonde Ambition!

And winning with just a SINGLE point, Cranius Maximus!

They chose World War II Military History to kick it off next week! See you then!

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

Seriously, now I am in the mood for a Grape Nehi! I don’t think Ive seen one in years but my mission this weekend is to hunt one down, trap it, and make it mine! (One of the consequences of having a highly impressionable mind and running a pub trivia night)!

Speaking of…great game tonight with a 16 team field over at Champion Billiards in Frederick, MD. Winning a bar trivia night against a 16 team field is a notch baby…a big notch! And that notch tonight was earned by the fine gentlemen over at Shelby’s Heroes! Nice work guys. And much props to the rest of our leader board as well. The Top 5 looked like this:

1st: Shelby’s Heroes
2nd: Horseshoes and Hand Grenades
3rd Place: FnQ
4th Place: Just Good Enough
5th Place: Brain Freeze

Ironic Fun fact of the night:

Jack Daniels is brewed in Moore County, TN. This county is a DRY COUNTY! No booze at all! I find that deliciously ironic – the #1 whiskey in the world made in a town where no one can get a drink of it 🙂

Enjoy your weekend everyone. Next Thursday we get it started with a question about “Dragonball Z.” I’ll keep you posted on my Grape Nehi mission…;)
Be well… dg

A new group, Team Drizzle played a strong game themselves and rolled into 2nd, while Big Test Icicles held on for a 3rd place showing.

Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia

We had a bunch of newcomers tonight at the Fish Market but it was our veterans that held it down tonight! Gone Squatchin’ and Seabass were fighting for first all night, flip flopping between first and second multiple times.

By the time the final question came around, Gone Squatchin’ pulled ahead and locked the game away. Good win Gone Squatchin’! Second place went to Put It on Seabass’ Tab.

A shout out to our 3rd place finishers Children of the 80’s, a new team here at Fish Market, who came up short by a single point! Well played by a new team, hoping to see you all back again next week! Until then 😉

1st Place: Gone Squatchin’
2nd Place: Put It on Seabass’ Tab
3rd Place: Children of the 80’s

Next Week’s Category: Triple 50/50 Mike Tyson or Yogi Berra.

Guidos – Frederick, MD

It was cold outside and white-hot inside at Guido’s tonight! It got loud, rowdy, and we had a KILLER GAME!

Taking third place tonight was A Pathetic 5th with a solid late-game comeback!

In second were our newcomers Norfolk & Chance with an impressive showing! Up top and nearly un-defeatable was Stink Floyd!!

Their choice for first category next week? Harold Ramis Films! See you next Thursday!

It may have been cold outside but the game was HOT at Main Street Oyster House.

New teams, new champs, same old great game. Charm City Pazully’s took the winner slot their first time playing, while Don’t Call Me Daughter stole second, with If We Only Had a Brain rounding out third!

It was a great game at Main Street. Next week tune in for 80s rock songs
