Thursday Trivia

Thursday PHT is a far reaching night- up and down the east coast! Have you heard we are in St. Pete’s beach?? Yup, Florida baby! We are always looking for new venues, pop on over to www.pourhousetrivia.com if you think you’ve got a good spot in mind!

Quincy’s in Gaithersburg, Md

To say it was a close game at Quincy’s would be a bit of an understatement, as we had a three-way tie for first at the end of both the third round and the fourth round.  Three stellar teams: Blue collar, John Lithgow Fan Club, and Lowered Expectations, each put on a stellar game with a whopping 165 points heading into the final!  Normally , that would be enough to win at most bars, but not tonight.  All three were able to come up with the correct response on the final question, and so the three-way tiebreaker would be needed to determine our champion.  After the dust settled, John Lithgow Fan Club pulled off their first win of the season!  Amazing finish!  We had Blue Collar taking second and Lowered Expectations in third, with Nasty Neutrons taking home our third place prize thanks to one team playing ‘over the limit’.  Next week begins with a question on the TV series “Vikings”.  ~ Matt

Champion Billiards in Frederick, Md

14 team Throwdown at Champion Billiards on Thursday! That’s what I call a bar trivia romp! Huey, Dewey, and Louie made a cameo! Barker’s Beauties brought back memories and we honored a music legend:

Thanks for coming out everyone. It was good to be back in Champions hosting. I miss you all and Thursday night was a great time for me! And what a game?!?!?! WOW! You all know how to put up a trivia battle. It was up and down and no telling who would emerge vicorious til the very end. It went down to a Purple Rain tie-breaker! After the last note was hit, our TOP looked like this:

FIRST:  FnQ

SECOND: Just Good Enough

THIRD: Charlie & the Vodka Factory

Excellent times my friends. And good to see you. I am filling in for Sam in a few weeks again so I look forward to getting down with ya again soon. Til then…next Thursday the game will kick off with a question in the category of CRIMINAL MINDS. See you soon 🙂

Bunker’s in Leesburg, Va

Small game tonight here at Bunker, I’m guessing most folks are a little pooped out after all the Capitals action this week. Tonight’s final was EPIC, I was told to pass that along to the writing staff so good job y’all. Here are the results:

Your Mom in 1st

Indians in 2nd

Thundercats in 3rd

First category for next week is the great state of Oregon ~ Ronnie

Blue Parrot in St. Pete’s Beach, Fl

It was anybody’s game going into the final. High wagers for all, but only three pulled it out. Congrats to the Quizknows for their win; the new team, E-ville, had a fantastic debut with a  second place, and the Hot Chicks and an Old Geezer finally got on the board in third!  I hope to see you all next week!

The Winner’s Choice Category is Frank Sinatra.

Main St. Oyster House in Bel Air, Md

Natalie was off traveling the world so I made my way east, and north, and east again to head on out to Bel Air to see the fine folks at Main St! The fine folks of Main St. are not fooing around.. a simple prank question and they all came out swinging with shanking! Apparently it’s a regional thing? I had to explain to everyone what the rest of the world calls shanking… it does not resemble pantsing in any way!
Was a good night with you all, but I don’t think I had as much fun as our winners tonight- Cup Chicks! in 2nd it was Clever Team Name and 3rd went to Bocca. Nice game everyone! Natalie will be back next week, thank you for your kindness to me. Next week you will start with Beekeeping. Good luck! ~Samantha

Fish Market in Alexandria, Va

Probably the longest tenured of our teams here at the Fish Market are You’re Killing Me Smalls. They joined us well over a year ago and they are one of the few teams to be back every week. They won the House Championship last season and are on their way to do it again this season. Tonight we celebrated Ned’s retirement from the Army. 22 years of service, a big round of applause to him. A good dude and a long career done.
While celebrating his retirement, they all said “We need to play trivia!” So all suited up, they came out and joined us for trivia. A bigger group than usual, they broke into 2 teams: You’re Killing Me Smalls and You’re Killing Me Ned. Both teams played great tonight, holding onto the top 2 spots going into the half.
The 2nd half played hard for most teams which let Title One Forever creep into the lead. A crucial Charlie Brown question took the 9 from Smalls and wagers from most. I believe Title One Forever was 1 of 2 teams to not get the big fat 0 on that one. It helped them claim the lead going into the final question, with Smalls and Ned just behind them.
Final played about 50% tonight. Ned missed the final making room for Dirty Dirty Kitten to jump into the money tonight. 3rd goes to Dirty Kitten, 2nd to Smalls, and winning tonight is Title One Forever! Great game all, back in a week! See ya then 😉
1st Place:     Title One Forever
2nd Place:    You’re Killing Me Smalls
3rd Place:     Dirty Dirty Kitten
Next week:     Kevin Smith Films

Guido’s in Frederick, Md

We had a couple of visiting teams  come by and shake things up on Thursday at Guido’s Speakeasy! In fact, both teams finished in the top 3! Finishing in 3rd was a fun team who had a good chance for 1st and I hope will be back to attempt it again, Blood, Bath and Beyond! As all good things must come to an end, they had an amazing win streak stopped by a 2nd place finish for Roosevelt’s Polio Throw!! It took a visiting team to stop that impressive run by R.P.H., and making it look easy with a 1st place victory was The Man Who’s High In The Castle!!! They picked “The N.B.A. Playoffs” for next weeks winners choice, so study up and come join the party with us next Thursday at Guido’s!!   ~  Jon J

1. The man who’s high in the castle
2. Roosevelt’s Polio Throw
3. Blood Bath and Beyond
4. 5 O’clock Charlie and Astigmatism
5. Boner Damage

Lake Linganore in New Market, Md

We kicked off the Lake Linganore Association Pour House Trivia Mini-League with a bang tonight! The next few weeks there are gonna be interesting for Mr. Zach!

Between the little technical hiccup with the audio clue (which we’re still not sure what actually happened, with mixed reports among the other hosts of the night), Alpha Sigma Sigma making noises that are normally not able to be heard by human ears, and the pile of goodies to eat and drink (to supplement some of your more alcoholic libations) it was a fun night all around!

With two teams battling it out for the top spots tonight, the question was who would join them on the podium. One final question later and we had our answer!

In third place tonight, the Misfits!

In second place tonight, Faking Bad!

In first place tonight, Moose and Squirrel!

Great game everyone! Thank you all for having me tonight! Zach will be with you starting next week moving forward, and next week you’ll start the game off with The Walking Dead (show, not the comics). Study up, and see you next time!

Until then,

Ian
