Another packed house tonight at Quincy’s tonight led to some interesting shake-ups during the final question and a tight finish at the top! When the dust settled, Suck it Frosty took home the title, Breadsticks ended up with a close second, and Blue Collar snuck into third, jumping up onto the podium with a correct answer on the final!
Your team’s success tonight hinged heavily on your ability to decode PRESBYTERIANS into Britney Spears (only 6 of 15 teams could do so). It’s a common consensus that timed anagram questions are a toxic addition to any trivia set – and that the madness that ensues turns any venue into a circus – but our writers are bound to hit you at least one more time with an anagram question this season, baby.
Congratulations to the aptly named Bridezillas and O’Doyle Rules for popping their Pour House Trivia cherry tonight – we hope to see you again next week!
In an obvious attempt to hamstring the millennials at Quincy’s, Suck it Frosty has selected The Original (1950s) Mickey Mouse Club as our winner’s choice category for next week – so go spend some unenjoyable time on YouTube studying up 😉
Have a great weekend, guys – I’ll see you next week!
As the Summer Fling finals wrap up, it’s been a blast watching the competition get even more fierce! Teams are coming in from all over the area to pull as many points as they can! The traveling teams sure know how to mix things up and Champions was working for it tonight!
In 1st tonight it was no surprise- Swipe Left for a better team name! 2nd would have been Science Police but they had too many players on the field so had to step off the podium and let Rice Rice Baby climb on up there! 3rd went to Just Good Enough who were literally just good enough to slide in to that 3rd place spot. Nice finish! Next week we start out with Seinfeld.
What can I say but what I always say, ANOTHER great game of trivia here at Bunker in Leesburg! The game was fairly tight going into the final round, with only 8 points separating all the teams for victory. The final flipped the scripts slightly at the end however. Here are the results:
Cranius Maximus in 1st
Indians in 2nd
Your Mom in 3rd
Our first category for next week has a plethora to pick from so do your research! “21st Century Democratic Party Scandals” ~ Ronnie (giggling like a schoolgirl, I may bring popcorn next week)
Its August and ITS HOT in FLORIDA! But the cool AC is blowing in the BLUE PARROT! Today we celebrated PHT’s 1 year anniversary at the Blue Parrot! A special thanks to all of the participants who helped to make this possible, as well as the awesome staff at the Blue Parrot! Starting the night, it was Romeo’s Revenge and Quizknows who led the way going into rounds 3 and 4. CJ tried to make a comback, and did it well, getting the 6 point clue for today, but it wasn’t enough to get within the big first place prize at the end. It was Romeo’s Revenge and The TEAM who pulled it off tonight with a correct answer! Congrats to all of the teams that played!
Last night the house mascots Cup Chicks won the evening with a well played final question. Boogie Friends did their dance into 2nd place, while In Bocca placed with the Bronze medal. Next week we’ll be singing a hard days night with the winners choice The Beatles!
All summer long we’ve been having RAGERS at the Fish Market! Every week we have some teams drop out but then 2 or 3 new teams show up in their place! Tonight was no different as we saw a huge field competing for the win! Each game seems to have had a different winner than the last and that streak would continue as last week’s winners, the duo called Atomic Dogs, did not show tonight. One team that DID show tonight was one of our most winningest teams in recent months, Ant Farm Keyboard. They won the House Championship last season and after a short hiatus, they’re back to take down another W!
You’re Killing Me Smalls looked good tonight having full strength (well, 6 total…) for the first time in a while. They definitely looked like a full strength crew, putting up 88 points at the half. A very strong score, most of the time that would be good… But no score is safe when Ant Farm Keyboard are playing, who put up a whopping 90 points at the half!
The second half did NOT seem to slow down AFK as they remained in the lead by a good margin. They were up over 160, I think 163 to be exact, going into the final question. Smalls managed to fend off the other teams but they trailed by about 7 points. Luckily, they DID come up with a correct response on the final but, as we may have expected, AFK picked up points as well and secured the victory. Smalls takes 2nd tonight and 3rd goes to Food For Thought, who jumped up a bit with a correct response on the final!
Great game tonight! Summer Fling finals are just around the corner, hope to see you guys out on the 10th of September for that $$$ game! I’ll be there, do you best to qualify and attend! Keep playing those weekly matches in hopes of qualifying for the finals! We’re back next week, see ya then!
Thursday nights game at Guido’s Speakeasy had a great ending to an otherwise pretty normal match. No surprises or crazy flip flops during the game, but when everyone went all 12 points on the final question and only one team got the answer, I suddenly had to settle a tie between the team in 1st and the team now tied for 1st that WAS in 4th! After the answers were in, this is how it looked… In 3rd place was Meth, Maybe Once. Moving from 4th to almost winning the game to finishing 2nd after the tie break was Felicia, and squeaking out the win with a huge sigh of relief was Spitters are Quitters!! They picked “West Side Story” for next weeks winners choice, so study up and come join the party with us next Thursday night at Guido’s!! ~ Jon J
