There’s no place like Pour House Trivia Tuesday! Recap!

Pour House pub trivia‘s Tuesday packed in eight games of live trivia, complete with a little Wizard of Oz, some Russian spying and a touch of everything else under the sun!

Check out the games!

Capitol City Brewing Company – Arlington, VA

It was a great finish at Capitol City Brewing Company in Shirlington, as we had some of our best teams scrambling to come up with the correct response on a rare sports-themed final.  But one of the teams that gave the correct answer was the Capitol City Goofballs, who took home their second win of the season.  Rounding out the top three with correct answers on the final were Eric’s Illegitimate Children in second and Urban Achievers in third.  Trivia will be on as scheduled next week for st. Patrick’s Day!

Happy to be welcoming you back in to the top 3 tonight! Nice job guys, as always it was a pleasure. 🙂

Hollywood Casino – Perryville, MD

Well, I’m still getting used to the driving situation, but tonight’s live trivia game at The Celebrity Bar & Grill went WAAAAYYYY smoother and started on time!! My first time there last week…not so much!

At least this Tuesday it was just rain and fog as opposed to freezing rain and ice, so my team count went up and the battle was ON!! I had a different team holding first almost every round, but the team holding it after the final question is all that matters, and tonight’s top 3 were as follows:

Finishing 3rd tonight was Creswell’s Fairies! 2nd place was American Outlaws!! Tonight’s winners weren’t here last week, but had a HUGE comeback 3rd round, rocked round 4, then got the final to ensure their victory for 1st: Jersey Shore!!! I have a feeling I haven’t heard the last of them.

Trivia will be ON next Tuesday for St. Paddy’s Day and Jersey Shore chose “Seinfeld” for next weeks winners choice question, so study up, and put on something GREEN next week, or I just may PINCH you!!

Markham’s – Bethesda, MD

I swear it always rains on Tuesday nights! I can’t explain why, but it just does! But that’s not enough to dampen the spirits of the Markham’s regulars, who were out in force for tonight’s pub trivia game!

Highlights of the Night:

In “You-Guys-Might-Be-Overthinking-It”: I think a few too many teams over thought the homophones question. I had answers of Anchorage and Juneau, but I’m not sure what mythological creatures those are (although Juno was a Roman goddess) but still, come on guys. That was even the hint of the day!

In “That’s-Supposed-To-Be-Common-Knowledge??”: I’ve never heard of Nicolae Ceausescu, and by the answers I got, neither had most of my teams. I joined the consensus that that question could’ve used another clue or two, because if that’s supposed to be common knowledge, consider me dumb.

In “So-Close-But-So-Far”: Only a few teams got the Wizard of Oz, but one team actually put Dorothy down as their answer. Ahh so close, and yet so far.

The final it turns out just needed some working out, but wagering was key tonight!

In third place, jumping up with a correct answer, Team Steve! Good game guys, way to hang tough!

In second place, hunting the leaders all night, Where’s the Makers?! Well done!

Taking it down tonight though, a dominant performance as always, Uncle Jack! Congratulations guys, well earned victory!

We are OFF next week for St. Patrick’s Day! So get your drink on and meet up with us here in two weeks time, where our round one category courtesy of Uncle Jack will appropriately be March Madness! Get your college basketball on, and we’ll see you in two weeks!

Until then,

Monkey La La – Frederick, MD

First things first! Thank you SCHULIENS for CMA tonight! I roll into La La for pub trivia night and feel like I forgot something but I write that voice off. Until, well, it was time to fire up my computer. Oh yeah! That’s it! Left my laptop on my couch! hehe 🙂 = 50 Host of the year Point loss! John and Cathy, however, made the trip home, printed for me and let me borrow their laptop to run the game. Much love y’all – thanks for the help!

Once that debacle was sorted, a darn good bar trivia contest busted out! Eddie $$$ Kids put a wire to wire on us tonight! They came out of the gates with a little NASA Missions snipe and did not look back! BOOM for the win! Nice job Eddie $$$!

Great game all around. Some funny sshhtuff tonight too! Peaches & Herb might be new favorite band! I am gonna keep “Reunited” on repeat for like a week! And I for sure thought someone would choose “Nasty Emissions” for next week’s category 1!

Orioles Nest #331 – Frederick, MD

The final question in a live trivia game is usually full of suspense, because a correct or incorrect response can be the difference between absolute victory and not even placing in the top three; between a top three finish and finishing in a distant eighth place. Tonight was one of those nights where things really got shaken up by an interesting final.

In tonight’s game, we had an impressive showing from one team in particular who held the lead from start to finish…. almost. Unfortunately the final was a bit of a stumbling block, and Black Steel, who were having one of the better games I’ve seen ended up tumbling from being in the driver’s seat to being outside the top three. They told me not to write about their collapse, but it’s almost unfair to ignore how well they were doing until then.

In third place tonight was Beer is Good, who did a bit of leapfrogging by landing the final question. Second place was the Book Club Babes, who also got the final correct but were a bit too far out to take the win. And for our winners, always the bridesmaid, but never the bride has been pretty much the theme of their games at the Orioles Nest until tonight. Taking down their first win at this venue was One Crow Short of a Murder who bet zero in a strategic move that ended up being a moot point, as they handed in a correct answer anyway. CAW CAW! Next week we open with the category Sturgill Simpson. If you’re like me and don’t know who that is, now is a good time to go look him up!

Quincy’s South – Rockville, MD

And our juggernaut duo of D+M has been taken down folks! After winning 3 in a row here at Quincy’s, the dynamic duo fall to 2nd place at the hands of Team Spret!

Spret and D+M were the only two teams who managed to come up with a correct response on the final question; they were trailing in 2nd and 5th place respectively going into the final question. A quick shout out to The Big Fact Hunt who led most of the game but fell short when they couldn’t pull out Milwaukee!

Another shout out to DT, who played by himself and was in a solid 3rd place but also couldn’t nail the final! Seems we have some good teams brewing here at Quincy’s. Excited to see how the future turns out here! I expect a good bit of competition. Hopefully all our new teams, and new faces, join us next week for more live trivia action! I’ll be here. Until then guys 😉

1st Place: Team Spret
2nd Place: D+M
