The drive to the World Series! Pour House Pub Trivia Monday recap!

Pour House pub trivia‘s Monday started the World Series stretch run with five great games of live trivia!

Check out how it all went down!

Del Ray Pizza – Alexandria, VA

Man that was one HELL of a thunderstorm that blew through, hail and everything! But it didn’t dampen the spirits of our trivia teams here at DRP as we had another packed house. Bad puns aside, here are the results of tonight’s game:

Del Ray Dummies in 1st
I’m w/ Stupid in 2nd
Del Ray Posse in 3rd

Our first category for next week is Walt Disney World.

Coming soon!

il Forno – Frederick, MD

In our one week long off-season between the playoffs and the World Series, we still had people beat the rain and come join us for trivia tonight! Chicken McThuggets had too many people this week so they split into 2 groups: Chicken McThuggets and the Original McThugs. Joining them was a couple of our veteran teams and a handful of new ones as well! It was a pretty good match up after the first half, all the teams pretty close together, but a rocky and difficult 2nd half left one team ahead of the pack. Before announcing that, I’d like to call out our question of the night: Mr. Ving Rhames. Famous for his work in Pulp Fiction, Striptease, and Con Air, Ving Rhames established himself as a Hollywood bad ass. Another guy to comes to mind as a bad ass is Samuel L Jackson (what, with the inscription on his wallet in Pulp Fiction). Here’s the problem. Sammy J wasn’t in Con Air or Striptease! Even so, we had teams dropping 9’s like a German pessimist on that question.

It was a juccy one (note the spelling, Post Hunt friends). One of the teams that dropped that 9 was Chicken McThuggets, though it didn’t seem to stop them much as they led by 12 going into the final question of the night. Needless to say, they bet a big fat zero, so unless the 2nd place team got the final correct on a max wager, they couldn’t be caught. The final played tough here, which worked in favor of Chix McThugs who took down the win on a final that wiped the bar out! Grats guys, enjoy the win! Carry the momentum into next season! 2nd place went to Off in Public, 3rd to Murder on the Polar Express! That’s how this one wrapped up, good luck at the World Series! I’ll be back here next Monday for our first game of the Summer season! Until then 😉

1st Place: Chicken McThuggets
2nd Place: Off in Public
3rd Place: Murder on the Polar Express

Next week’s category: Triple 50/50 Michael Scott or John Dorian

Roast House Pub – Frederick, MD

The summer storms couldn’t keep away the teams from packing into the
Roast House tonight, for a very special beer themed Pour House Trivia
Night! In honor of Craft Beer week, tonight’s set was packed with beer
themed questions

Highlights of the Night:

In “Dem-Drunk-Pilgrims”: I had never heard that the Pilgrims only
stopped at Plymouth Rock because they ran out of booze. And frankly I
don’t even care if it’s true or not. It’s true in my head and that’s
all that matters.

In “Mind-Them-Ps-And-Qs”: Most teams were on their best behavior
tonight, though there were a few who probably should’ve had this
phrase used. Y’all were wild tonight!

In “Beerfest!-Beerfest!-Beerfest!”: The final saw a showdown between
two heavyweights of the drinking world: Germany vs. Czech Republic.
How would things end?

In third place tonight, a new team and a duo: Busted Doors! They
certainly busted it down tonight!

In second place tonight, Multiple Scorgasms! Great game tonight, way
to hang tough!

In first place tonight, Team America!

Good luck everyone compete at World Series this weekend! I’ll see you
in Hagerstown! Next week’s round one question one category will be a
continuance of tonight’s magic: Beer! Should be fun!

Until then,
Ian

Spider Kelly’s – Arlington, VA

One last tune-up before World Series XI at Spider Kelly’s in Arlington.  It was a two-horse race tonight, as two of our regular teams (playing under new-ish names) pulled away from the field in the third round.  Our winners tonight, the Reach Around Gang, followed by Swedish Police on Vacation in second, and Jimmy’s in Vegas in third.  Next week, we begin with breakfast cereal.  ~ Matt
