Take my photograph, but don’t take my Pour House Pub Trivia away! Tuesday recap!
Pour House pub trivia went old school for a little Paul Simon action!
Those old Kodachrome photos are GORGEOUS, but the song? Ehh…that’s just OK in my book.
Check out the games!
Capitol City Brewing Company – Arlington, VA
A packed house at Capitol City Brewing Company in Shirlington, as we topped 15 teams as the game got underway. Despite the larger field, it was our best teams that once again landed on the medal stand tonight. Only a few teams got tonight’s final question, but most of them had already secured their position in the top three. It was another win for “1 Plus 2 Plus 1 Plus 1”, followed by the Capitol city Goofballs, and Eric’s Illegitimate Children in third. next week begins with a question on the St. Louis Cardinals. ~ Matt
Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD
Nice to see that you all didn’t drink away your intelligence last week. I think I missed you Champions! It was fun to see a full house tonight, and even more fun to hear the groans when not a single team got the final right! Oh man… That was a hum dinger 😉
Great group of people in here tonight, so many of which were gracious about helping me with those tricky, no-good words. It’s not a night with me until you have to spell something!
There was a throwdown on the tiebreaker, cracked me up: BTI and Jungle Fever were fighting it out for 2nd, they gave me answers within one year of each other and yet they were about a hundred years off! You can’t make that stuff up.
In the end it was BTI who had to settle for 3rd, Jungle Fever took 2nd and Thundercats have settled right back in to that top spot. Nice game all, I will see you next week when we start out with the Chappelle’s show!

Cugini’s Restaurant – Poolesville, MD
Give it up for Stephen Hawking’s School of Dance as they broke on through and got their first PHT win here at Cugini’s in Poolesville. Congrats to you all!
Here are the results of the game:
Stephen Hawking’s School of Dance in 1st
MoMo in 2nd
How I Met Ronnie in 3rd
Our first category for next week is MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). See ya then!

Hollywood Casino – Perryville, MD
I had to use a tiebreaker question for the first time since I started hosting live trivia here at the Celebrity Bar and Grill tonight.
There’s some good competition every week it seems, and the top 3 spots never seem to get run away with by any one team! Once again, these teams were all going for it. The reason for the tie happened to work out from the way the wagers went down for the final question, which NO one got correct!!
After the tie breaker, finishing 3rd was Creswell’s Fairies! Winning the tie and 2nd place with it was Just Us! This team HAS to be HAPPY with the way they wagered and ended up moving into 1st after the final, American Outlaws!! They picked “The Princess Bride” for next weeks winners choice question, so study up and get out to see me at the Celebrity Bar and Grill in the Hollywood Casino this Tuesday!

Markham’s – Bethesda, MD
Tonight’s game of Pour House trivia was a bloodbath! A tough set led to a low scoring night overall, with most of the teams having to fight tooth and nail for every point!
Highlights of the Night:
In “What-Was-That-Song?!”: Kodachrome?! What in the hell is Kodachrome?! I know I’m not a big Paul Simon fan, but seriously, what’s that all about?!
In “What-Were-You-Thinking-There?”: I’m not sure what version of Pinocchio people think we’re talking about, but Geppetto was certainly not sinister! Too funny!
In “Oh-Come-On-Now”: If I give you Italy, Germany, and Austria-Hungary as part of the Triple Alliance, and tell you that the Triple Entente eventually fought them, chances are Italy, Germany, and Austria-Hungary are not part of the Triple Entente. Come on now, guys!
With few teams emerging from the bloodbath unscathed, the final was a total stumper, which meant the podium was pretty much set.
In third place, with their first ever placing, the Noobs! Good job guys! Not so “noobish” now, are ya?!
In second place, as a duo no less, the Blue Barracudas! Way to hang tough guys and well done!
In first place, the only team to get away mostly clean tonight, Uncle Jack! Congratulations guys, great game!
Markham’s is getting a major facelift over the next few weeks, so we will be off of trivia until April 21st! That’s about a month from now.
When we come back, the round one category, courtesy of Uncle Jack, will be professional wrestling, as in the WWE and such! You guys have plenty of time to study, so I expect you guys to be experts when we
come back! Especially since that’s the day after my birthday; let’s make it a party! See you in a month, guys!
Until then,
Ian
Monkey La La – Frederick, MD
Answer of the Night is: HUGS, of course! But 2nd Answer of the Night, gotsta go to “Chico and the Man!” Oh yeah! Old School baby! Great times tonight at Monkey La La live trivia night everyone! We had some fun questions, some hard questions, some brain twisters and some informational ones – a nice recipe for a good time at pub trivia! And this game was not over until the final! Evidence shows, you are never out of it! Eddie $$$’s Kids put on a little workshop on how to make a giant leap from 8th to 1st, and against some very tough trivia crews, I might add! Aweseom game y’all! And props to the Top 3. It was not an easy set tonight; so great work clawing your way up the leader board!
Gotta say, the Triple 50-50 Def Leppard AUDIO “1 arm or 2 arms” was a nice opener and a PHT first, for sure! Good stuff. And “Roller Blade” was a tough closer! Good game tonight everyone.
Next Tuesday we kick off with “MLB Opening Day” trivia! Until then, have a great week and weekend and I will see you next Tuesday.

Orioles Nest #331 – Frederick, MD
Today I officially introduced the teams at the Oriole’s Nest to a very common rule of thumb for trivia games. That rule is if the first and last name of a person is not specifically asked for, you should just put the last name. This can cover several bases, especially if you don’t *quite* remember that person’s first name, because usually if you give the wrong first name I will mark you as wrong. Except for when we got to the question “I share a FIRST and LAST name.” That’s when my advice went out the window. Also, due to a bit of confusion on the NCAA Tournament question, Black Steel ended up with quite the humorous throwaway answer (I don’t think ‘Eight’ is a team in the NCAA tournament), with ‘8’ being a common joke answer for them. Everything else was going smoothly up until the third round started, however. When I announced the category “controversial films” everybody’s mind somehow immediately went into the gutter for the rest of the game, thinking I meant an adult film for that and several categories after that too.
Quincy’s South – Rockville, MD
Getting more and more teams here each week! We had a great turn out tonight with a good mix of new faces and veteran teams! Our question of the night HAD to be the 3 Clues 1 Word question.. Popular bonus category, lots of teams went for the 2 point bonus and got DESTROYED! I had at least 5 different answers, only one of which was correct, unfortunately. Stromboli seemed to not stick with people after watching Pinocchio as a child. One team NOT phased by this question was The Big Fact Hunt, who picked up points on this one and were able to hold on to the lead all. freaking. night. Going into the final, they were up by a good 9 points and, despite missing the final question, still won the game pretty convincingly. Do we have a new juggernaut here at Quincy’s? I guess we’ll see next week! 2nd place went to Spret, who won last week, 3rd place went to Clarkie 2 who jumped up from behind a bit to grab a prize! Grats to all those who placed! We’ll see you guys next week (which should be fun, starting off with Gen. I Pokemon!) Until then, ttys! 😉
1st Place: The Big Fact Hunt
2nd Place: Spret
3rd Place: Clarkie 2
Next week’s category: Gen. I Pokemon
