Sunday and Monday Games Get You into November!
Our last two nights of trivia in October featured seven different games on Sunday and Monday, each of which included several Halloween-themed questions! You could say they were Halloween ‘leftovers’ from our All Things Scary game on Saturday night, but they made for some great times to get you into November! Let’s take a look at the recap and our top teams:
SUNDAY / MONDAY STATS AND FACTS (51 teams across seven venues):
–> Highest Overall Score: The A Team (Il Forno) with 166
–> Highest Score after Round 4: The A Team (Il Forno) with 155
–> Highest First Half Score: The A Team (Il Forno) with 88
–> Perfect 21 (correct on all wagers and final): The A Team (Il Forno)
–> It must have been a great night for The A Team at Il Forno, as they were also the only team to score a perfect 20 on the halftime page!
SUNDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (33.3% success rate):
–> Name either one of the only two Pulitzer Prize-winning novels which have been adapted into films that also won the Oscar for Best Picture. (you’ll find the answer later in this blog)
MONDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (61.8% success rate):
–> Introduced in fiction in the early 19th century, what former natural sciences student of the University of Ingolstadt has been portrayed in various media by Raul Julia, James McAvoy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Sting, and Kenneth Branagh, among others?

It was great to be back with my trivia family tonight after last week’s hiatus, and I was greeted by Baby Rice in costume, so my night was made early on (shoutout to Bailey Belle!) We kicked it off with the ever-appropriate Antietam Battlefield first category.
We continued to roll through the first round and into the second with some TV Song Titles for your listening pleasure. Moving on through we had some classic beer brands just before heading into the half-time puzzle with a devilish top half and some musical puzzlers on the bottom half.
What Else Could It Be?! and Fisted Sister were neck-and-neck going into the second half, which we started off with TV Cartoons and ended with a little Latin lesson.
The scores were still close going into the 4th and final Round, which started with some pre-Halloween ghost stories and wrapped up with a few World Series Moments (fingers crossed, Cubs!). But alas, it came down to the final question, a “From Page to Screen” style brain-buster, which left the following teams victorious:
First Place: What Else Could It Be?!
Second Place: Boh’s & Hoes
Third Place: Fisted Sister
Next week’s first category: “Ender’s Game” (the book)
See you Sunday!

We had a fun game on Sunday at the Beacon! There was a new team playing that were so fun and had such a good time, it makes me sad they were in town from Illinois and won’t be back for a while… 🙁 Finishing 3rd was our visitors, Great Tahome, 2nd went to the Survivors, and once again the Witiots took 1st place!! They picked a winners choice category that may give you a chuckle Matt. “Triple 50-50: Ass or Hole in the Ground”, so have fun with that, and if you’d like to hear what that question will be like, come on over to the Beacon next Sunday!!

Boo! Tonight being Halloween, most of our teams elected to go trick-or-treating. But some of our most loyal teams decided to try their luck against our All Things Scary quiz tonight.
For some of our teams, I think they missed some subtle clues I had unwittingly given throughout the night. Despite me playing “Monster Mash” earlier in the night, every team failed to identify the character that “was on chains / Backed by his baying hounds”. But some teams figured out that my playing “Werewolves of London” was foreshadowing for the 6-4-2 Question.
Eventually, most teams figured out that Pazuzu, was the real antagonist in the 1970s “The Exorcist”. DRD, who had won twice in a row now, had most of their team gone to do Halloween things, which allowed for a change in the standings this week:
First Place: Wingardium Mimosa
Second Place: Worst-Case Ontario
Third Place: HR Puff ‘N’ Stuff
Next week’s first category: Season 12 of “The Bachelorette”
Join us then for the most exciting Rose Ceremony ever!!!
Until next time,

Happy Halloween folks! I arrived at my venue to learn that one of MY teams won the All Things Scary theme game, so congrats to The Cobras (AKA Casket of Deplorables)! Nice work! We started things out with a question about Gray’s Anatomy… The book, not the TV show. The question asked about the book’s first chapter, which is all about Embryology.
The toughest question was the one about the Jewish song which translates as ‘Let Us Rejoice’, which only one team knew was the song Hava Nagila. The final for tonight proved pretty tough as well, but due to some wagering strategy things didn’t really change in the standings. Third place went to Shirts and Skins, second went to The Cobras, and tonight’s win went to What Else Could It Be?!?!. Next week we start out with a question about Active Volcanoes of the World, so I’ll see you all then!
Until next time,

It was a spooky time tonight here at Morgan Inn in Lisbon as the ghouls and goblins came out to play a little Pour House Trivia! Up until the half there was only about a six-point difference in scores between the top three teams, unfortunately the 2nd half did brutalize one of the contenders, but don’t fret, you’ll be back on the ball next week I’m sure as it happens to the best. Here are the results:
First Place: River Benders
Second Place: Men & Pausers
Third Place: Team Morgan Inn
Next week’s first category: “Seinfeld”

Looks like some of our regulars took the night off for some trick or treating! Little did they know PHT brought the treats last night! Only a few of us showed up in costume, but all of us had a good time answering various questions about the year’s spookiest holiday. Rounds 1 & 2 proved easy for most with only a couple bonus questions missed here and there. In a rare twist NOBODY scored perfectly on the halftime puzzle which proved to be the REAL monstrosity of the night. Round 3’s last question stumped EVERY team when they could not name Igor as the character we were looking for in “Monster Mash”. Only Helen Keller Birdwatching Society answered correctly the two toughest questions of the night in Round 4. At the end of round 4 places 1-4 were SO close, teams really needed to strategize to stay on top. Only two of our teams knew The Exorcist was the oscar nominated horror film, and once again High School Prom took home the top prize. Our winners tonight were as follows:
First Place: High School Prom
Second Place: Walking Talking Stephen Hawking
Third Place: Kitten Mittens
Next week’s first question: WrestleMania XII

Happy Halloween everybody! Great night for trivia after we wind down from handing out candy and going around the neighborhood scaring people. Or perhaps you do the latter on any normal night… Either way, a good way to finish up Halloween was with some trivia tonight! I brought candy (was pretty much FORCED into it) so hopefully if you didn’t get a chance to Trick-or-Treat, your sweet tooth was satisfied here!
Our powerhouse teams so far this season have been The A Team and Stink Floyd with some various competition peppered within the ranks. Both teams looked strong tonight, hoping to upset last week’s winners Balls of Fire. Everyone was here tonight, lots of veterans locked in to win, and it was evident as the scores were mighty, might close after the first half!
Round 3 favored, as usual, the A Team who picked up all their wagers and some crucial 2 point bonuses that few others were getting. A strong round 3 and 4 led to them having the top spot going into the final, looking to close out the night as the winners. And that they did. Finished strong, took down the win and kept their reign among the top! Grats to them! All of our top 3 teams tonight got a little gift for next time and EVERYBODY got candy tonight! Also, I think people stole my little pumpkin buckets… There’s $1.99 I’ll never see again… Ugh. Happy Halloween everybody! Thanks for coming out!
