Pour House pub trivia’s Thursday was a liiiiiitle distracted by that mega-huge STAR WARS 7 trailer!
Feelin’ like a tiny kid nerd alllll over again!
Check out the recaps (most of which are Star Wars free, in case you’re afraid).

Your Mom took 2nd
Cake or Death took 3rd
Our first category for next week is the film The Room.

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD
Top 3 Things I Learned in Tonight’s Set:
1. People Cheat at Scrabble, and there is a name for the method – BRAILING!
2. 7-Up had Lithium in it (I knew Coke had cocaine in it, but 7-Up having lithium? Interesting!)
3. I’m not the only one who thinks Dark Knight was a better film than Godfather III
Oh yes! Tonight’s live trivia game at Champion Billiards was a wild one for sure! It was steady all the way thru, with DCH doing a great job of holding that top spot start to finish. BUT, oh big but, plenty of teams also did a great job of staying within sniping distance. And we all know how it can go when the right final question hits. Ya gotta stay within that magic 12 of the leader. And props to those that did, sniped the final and moved on into the Top 3. Awesome game everyone!
Power Vacuum have given us a bit of homework for the weekend and invited us all to study up on our “18th Century Science,” for nect Thursday’s game. Have fun brushing up on that one over the weekend!
Thanks for playing tonight everyone and I will see you next Thursday night! DG 🙂
Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia
Holy mackerel was it loud in here tonight!? I had my volumes MAXED OUT and the screaming, cheering, and overall good times still drowned me out, wow! This is actually a good thing. Glad you guys are getting INTO IT! Two Birds One Stone, after a 3 week hiatus, came back tonight with some BITE! After trailing a bit at the half, I don’t believe they missed a single, freaking point in the second half. The second half usually gets a bit harder which makes it all the more impressive. Holy cow… Good game guys. An untouchable 2nd half. Here’s another great story of the night though, the team leading at half time was not only a new team, but a solo player, going by the name Genius Orgy! Dude absolutely CRUSHED it tonight. I was very happy to see someone be that competitive in such an environment and without the aid of a team. It was truly impressive. He ended up taking 2nd place, not bad considering. Hope to have him back in the future as well! 3rd place went to That’s Not my Leg who played a very good game but came up just short on the final question. Hope to have the crowd back next week, IT WAS RAGIN’ HERE! Until then guys, I’ll talk to you soon! Be safe and have a good one!
1st Place: 2 Birds 1 Stone
2nd Place: Genius Orgy
3rd Place: That’s Not My Leg
Next week’s category: Famous David‘s (not the restaurant chain)
Guido’s – Frederick, MD
It was nice to be back behind the desk hosting pub trivia at Guido’s on Thursday, instead of realizing how “not smart” I am in front of it when Scott guest hosted last week!
Thanks to the teams who boosted my ego and said they were glad to have me back also!! It was a close game with points at the end of the game, I thought the final question might throw a loop for some teams and mix up the top 3, but then NO ONE answered it correctly so it stayed the same!
In 3rd place, I must give mad props to 5 O’Clock Charlie and a Stygmatism! (first time cracking the top 3!) In 2nd was the always tough Tuna Noodle Casserole!! Back in the winners seat and hungry for MORE was the 1st place finisher Not Quite White!!
They picked one of the greatest films of all time for the winner’s choice question, “The Big Lebowski”, so study up and I’ll see everyone back next Thursday at Guido’s!!!

Lake Linganore Association – New Market, MD
What a night! You guys at Lake Linganore definitely know how to have a good time! Thank you all for being so welcoming to me as I guest-hosted Pour House trivia while Eric was unavailable! Let’s get
to it!
Highlights of the Night:
In “Think-About-That-For-A-Second…”: The winner’s choice category of US Civil War being a bit of a doozy, with only a few teams getting the correct answer of Georgia being the home of the infamous Andersonville Prison where so many Union soldiers died as POWs. However, most teams at least guessed a southern state. Those of you who went north of the Mason-Dixon line might want to think about that one for a second.
In “Ian-Can’t-Say-Big-Words”: That Geocentricity question! Goodness gracious! Whose idea was it to put so many monsters in that question?? My tongue nearly tied itself in a knot, much to the teams amusement!
In “Marsha-Marsha-Marsha!”: The Brady Bunch theme on the puzzle page was quite the stumper. I may have been a guest, but that did not stop a healthy amount of stink eye being thrown my way!
The final saw many teams putting the same three answers, but only one correctly named them. What would that do the standings?
Honorable Mention: As a duo, Comfortably Dumb came unbelievably close to the podium tonight, coming in in third place. Good effort guys, you’ll get ’em next time!
In second place, Moose and Squirrel! They led the entire night, but couldn’t pull that last question. Still, good game guys!
Jumping into first place with the correct answer, Sloppy Seconds! Sounds like you guys might need a new name 😉 Congratulations!
Or, maybe they don’t; Sloppy Seconds would like to start off next week’s game with a category about Sex. Any comment I could make here would probably end up being bad, so I’m just going to say good luck! Eric will be back next week for you guys. Thank you all again so much for your hospitality! Have a good game, and we’ll see you next time!
Until then,
Ian

Main Street Oyster House -Bel Air, MD
Tonight, we had a couple playing called “Beauty & The Beast”, I am nearly certain the were a Tinder match up, and she wasn’t really happy with how her date appeared (hence their name).
HE however was happy- she was a really pretty blonde. However her trivia skills were not what they could have been. And she insisted on changing answers at the last moment. He did not care for this and sooner or later, the relationship broke down, and it was evident that a love connection was not meant to be- neither was a winning score. She got mad and stormed out at half-time. He left shortly thereafter.
The Flash Ninjas picked up the win tonight at MSOH, and team Beauty & the beast is no more.
Winner’s Choice: Ninjas
Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland
When all of our best teams are out at Quincy’s in Gaithersburg, it is always a close game of trivia, and Thursday was no different. We had a sizable field of 15 teams, and the tightly-packed leaderboard spread out VERY quickly once we asked a very difficult final question. Our winners were just one of two teams to get the final question, and so it was I Just Quizzed My Pants that took down the win. Lowered Expectations also hit the final to take second, with Smella Nella landing in third. We’ll start next week with a question on Eric Cartman! ~ Matt
