St. Patrick’s Day Trivia with Pour House Pub Trivia!
Pour House pub trivia knows how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day: Green beer, green food and live trivia!
We packed in five great games of pub trivia in Maryland and Virginia, so thanks to all of you for celebrating with us!
Can I get a little grammar nerdy for a bit? It’s St. Paddy’s Day, not St. Patty’s Day!
Check out the recaps!
Capitol City Brewing Company – Arlington, VA
I was glad to see a little holiday did not stop most of our regular teams from enjoying a little Irish-themed trivia at Capitol City Brewing Company in Shirlington. Yes, a few of our teams were not playing at full strength, but some folks did manage to cruise through tonight’s game with relative ease. In the end, Irish I Had Won did actually win tonight’s game with a substantial lead. Our tiebreaker for second place was ridiculously close, but it was Menace to Sobriety that edged out the Stamp Collectors for second place. Next week, we return with a ‘normal’ set beginning with a question on the movie “Clue”. ~ Matt

Hollywood Casino – Perryville, MD
I thought the game tonight at the Celebrity Bar & Grill was going to be really fun with all the Irish themed questions laced into every round, unfortunately, all of the teams who came to play didn’t feel the same way!!
The 3 top teams tonight were: finishing 3rd was American Outlaws! Moving up to 2nd place after the final was Creswell’s Fairies!! Moving into 1st after the fourth round and never looking back was our game winners, New Kids!!!
They’re going with “1970’s Rock Bands” for next Tuesdays trivia showdown, so study up and come see me at Celebrity’s Bar Grill!!

Monkey La La – Frederick, MD
What a St. Paddy’s night of trivia at Monkey La La tonight! Standing room only went down this evening. Between some new teams, veteran teams, and cross-town team getting some games in, we had a recipe for a great game!
The set was littered with well, thematic St. Paddy’s Day-ness – and as per any thematic set, there was a nice of mix of questions, including some head-scratching hardies! I think the tough answer of the night – and probably the year so far – was BOXTY! After reading about it, I think I am going to have to give it a try! Maybe we should bake up a big ole batch for World Series of Trivia 11 in June 🙂
Another toughie was the 50-50 Potatoes or Shamrocks question! Who’da thunk…potatoes and tobacco in the same family! All in all, a great time tonight and some great trivia playing! Getting into our Top 3 tonight was no easy feat, so congrats to our leader board on a game well played!
I must say, we have broken new ground with next week’s Winner’s Choice. It is a “Triple 50-50 Def Leppard AUDIO: One Arm or Two Arms? LMAO! WOW! Congrats to STDB on the win and for coming up with that craziness of a question. 🙂 Fun Stuff…
Thanks for coming out tonight everyone. I wish all of you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day and I will see you next Tuesday night at La La-licious. DG 🙂
Orioles Nest #331 – Frederick, MD
With today being St. Patrick’s Day it seemed only fair that the game we played today honor that. With questions about Irish bread, Padraig Harrington, Hozier, and plenty of other questions about Ireland I think we did a good job of that. It also helped that we had plenty of green beer and even jello shots that were made for the special occasion. All around it was a good time, and I’m glad I got to spend it with everyone who came out to play. Also, as much as a certain player wanted to argue based on her picture on the halftime page, Georgia O’Keefe is in fact a woman, and Al Bundy is not a real person. I did appreciate that a team managed to sneak O’Bama onto the Irish themed halftime page though.
In the game we had an unfortunate fall from grace by the team that was in the lead going into the final (Dufresne, Party of Four) which left two teams tied for the top spot. However, coming in third in tonight’s game was Beer is Good, which is a team name I think we all agreed with tonight. The tie for the win was between the Book Club Babes and Benny Doesn’t Know, so it came down to who could come closer on guessing the population of Ireland based on a 2014 census. In the end, the team that was closer, almost getting it dead on was Benny Doesn’t Know, who takes down their first win of the season! Nice job! This meant second place went to the Book Club Babes, who still had a great game regardless. Next week we start out with Jeeps as our opening category, courtesy of Benny Doesn’t Know, which should be interesting. I hope to see you all again next week!
Until next time,
-Chad
