Snow can’t stop the mail, and it can’t stop Pour House Trivia!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Tuesday is jam-packed with so much live trivia that we can barely fit it into one blog post!
Seriously, it’s packed.
We pressed on through a bit of a snowy blast to give you seven great games, so check it out below.
Fat Tuesday gave us the opportunity to introduced Pour House Trivia to a few new teams at Capitol City Brewing Company in Shirlington. I hope that the newbies stick around for a few more weeks. Onto the game itself… No surprises for the first four rounds, as the Capitol City Goofballs led throughout the night, maintaining a slight lead heading into the final. They were unable to close the deal, allowing the Illegitimate Children of Eric Perini to land their first win of the season! There were only two other teams to correctly answer our last question, and those teams rounded out our top three, with Le Tits Now and Moustache You a Question scoring some prizes. Next week, Season XI continues as we begin with a question on The Band! ~ Matt
This season is going to be a good one over at Champions!
We had some visiting faces tonight, testing the waters and I believe they found them to be just right! I know I am missing the warm waters, and the long days in the sunshine, cool drink in my hand and sunglasses on… wait, wait, sorry, I digress. Bit of a day dream there.
Thundercats definitely were not caught with their heads in the clouds as they battled it out at a Chicks and Dicks tiebreaker for first place, nice job guys and gals and thank you for the kinkling! 2nd went to Crystal Methodists who were just a touch off on the episode number after nailing the Dylan final. 3rd went to the sleepers of Big Money, No Whammies! Welcome back in to that top 3! Good to see you back up there 😉
Next week we will start off with Civil War battles, so study up and I will see you next week.
A real tight game of live trivia tonight at Cugini’s here in Poolesville, with a three-way tie that needed to be broken to settle 2nd and 3rd!
After the dust all settled, here is how it all went down:
How I Met Ronnie 1st
Never the Same 2nd
Drunk N Disorderly 3rd
Our first category for next week’s game is Seinfeld’s own Kosmo Kramer!
“Grateful Dead” is the first category for live trivia next week, so make sure to study up*!

See you next week!
We had a record number of teams packing in for warmth at Markham’s tonight! Close quarters meant a fierce battle, and the smack talk started early! Though that may have had more to do with the Penguins/Capitals game…
Highlights of the Night:
In “That-Was-Closer-Than-You-Think”: The bonus for the Weezer question stumped most teams, but one team got closer than they realized with what they called a joke answer. Spike Lee might be a drastically different filmmaker, but when the correct answer is Spike Jonze, it’s hard to get closer!
In “Holy-Nostalgia-Batman”: Dino Spumoni! Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. A long, long time. As I read that question, I got happy flashbacks to my childhood watching Hey Arnold, giggling to myself about the washed up Sinatra-esque character of Dino Spumoni.
In “Maybe-Tone-It-Down-A-Notch”: The final was the first total stumper we’ve seen around here in a long long time. We had some great guesses: Clapton, Springsteen, McCartney, Young. But no one could come up with Dylan. Tough one!
Defensive wagers were the name of the game tonight!
In third place, Quiz Me Baby One More Time making a last minute jump up, thanks to a 1 wager. Good job guys, way to hang tough.
In second place, Raiders of the Lost Gronk! Back from a several week hiatus, you guys came back strong; good job!
In first place though, looking to be the team to beat around here, was Uncle Jack! Congratulations guys, way to go!
For next week, Uncle Jack just wants to keep it simple and fun: we’re gonna start round 1 with a Beer category! Should be fun! I encourage you to study up, in moderation of course 😉 and we’ll see you next time!
And that pretty much sums it all up for Tuesday Night trivia at Monkey La La! We had a killer Mardi Gras game go down at the La La-ness. Pretty colors, beads, masks, cold bevis, and good times – can’t ask for a better Tuesday night!
Yeah it was freezing out, but that don’t stop us from throwing down like we do onTuesday nights! And we had a fun set of questions on top of all that as well. Some fun facts to take home…
1. We now all know Justin Bieber’s middle name – DREW
2. Spumoni sounds yum yum! I need to get some of this!
3. And Bob Dylan rocks out with his…well…he’s pretty bad ass! Let’s go withthat!
Dat Finish tho! WOW! The Bob Dylan pull for the finish took it home for some and changed it all up for others! Congrats to our Top 3!
Great game everyone! Thanks for coming out and spending your MArdi Gras Tuesday with us at La La for trivia night! Next week, we kick off with “Van Halen!” – another music act that rocks out with their…(cough) IS REALLY GOOD!
Tonight at the Oriole’s Nest, the place was absolutely packed full of people ready to play some live trivia! You know when the staff has to pull out the backup tables it’s going to be a busy but fun night, and that proved especially true today. One of my favorite questions of the night was when I got to talk about Hey Arnold, because I had no idea spumoni was a dessert, but Dino Spumoni was a great character as a parody of the Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin-esque musicians of the past. Unfortunately almost nobody in the place had even SEEN an episode of Hey Arnold before, let alone heard any of his great songs, so I showed my youth a little bit on that one.
In our game we had a ton of teams within a few points of each other throughout the entire game, and going down to the wire the win could have been snagged by pretty much anybody. Going down to the last question, the Book Club Babes held a small but significant lead as they tend to do, which can only be a sign of a talented team. However, the night proved not to be theirs, and victory was snatched out from under them and they ended up not even landing in a podium spot. In third place was Beer is Good, who were very visibly stoked when the final answer was announced. It’s always fun to see a team celebrate like that, reminds me of me whenever I get the chance to play. In second place was One Crow Short of a Murder, who had a second week in a row where they thought they were able to pull off the win, only to be (mildly) disappointed and end up finishing in second place. Nonetheless, nice job to them!
However, tonight’s winners held a one point lead over One Crow going into the final, and that single point proved to be the difference, and the night belonged to Black Steel, who knew the final and were even making jokes about getting extra credit if they could name The Band, who was famously the backup band to Bob Dylan, the answer to tonight’s final question. Nice job to them, and they decided that next week we will be starting out with World Capitals (one of my favorite things to study!) so time to go do a little refresher and study up!
Until next time,
The grueling weather we endured over the last 24 hours may have kept people off the roads tonight but that didn’t stop Quincy’s from bringing the people what they want!
Tonight was live trivia night and it was a great game! Friends were made, good times were had by all. We had Patty and Steve team up to play tonight, calling themselves Patty and Steve. We also had two solo players decide to join forces; they called themselves D+M! It was a bar trivia showdown between our two duo teams.
It looked close for a while; Patty and Steve trailed by 6 at the half, but in the second half D+M completely dominated the game and ran away with it, locking up the victory before the final question was even read! We’ll be back next week (weather pending, of course) for more trivia! Same time, same place! Until then guys, take it easy 😉
1st Place: D+M
2nd Place: Patty & Steve
Next week’s category: 3-Part Spike Lee Question
