Silly putty, but no silly answers with Pour House Trivia! Wednesday recap!

Pour House pub trivia‘s Wednesday brought you seven piping hot games of live trivia!

So close to the World Series I can taste it! Good luck this weekend gang!

Applebees – Frederick, MD

Ahh, the dreaded opera question. Just hearing the category is enough to make even the most steeled teams feel a shiver run down their spines. Immediately after I read the question, I had one player loudly ask, “Can we have a new question??” Another team tried to turn in two guesses for the name of the opera, and when I told them they had to pick one of their guesses, they asked why I did that since they were definitely wrong anyway. The other guess they got rid of was something I can’t remember, but the one they went with? The Magic Flute by Mozart.Cut to me reading the answer, and half of the room, including the aforementioned team, go absolutely crazy. Turns out the question wasn’t so bad after all, eh? In third place tonight was Car Ramrod who had a few tough moments after entering the final round tied for first. The team who tried to turn in two guesses was a usual team who played a very good game and just barely missed the win, losing on a tiebreaker and taking second, but either way nice work tonight by That’s What You Get For Thinking! Our winners tonight, winning in nailbiting fashion by winning the tiebreaker, was Dalek Dance Party with a nice little repeat! Next week we will open Pour House season 11 with a question on the Osmonds! Time to study up a bit!Until next time,

Barefoot Bernie’s – Hagerstown, MD

Sometimes we have a game of live trivia where a good handful of easier questions go down, the teams are aceing rounds, the puzzle is a breeze, the 6-4-2 gets rocked on 6, and the final is snickered at! Yeah…TONIGHT WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS!

If tonight’s pub trivia set were an animal, I’m thinking…

But here’s the thing! This Saturday is World Series Season X baby! And it’s business time that day my friends! I can’t wait to see how this thing goies down! I wish all my Bernies teams a big ole handful of good questions, and good luck! Home turf baby! Home turf!

Although tonight’s set crippled more than one crew in more than one spot, that’s not to say it wasn’t a great game! Thanks for coming out in the coldness y’all and having some fun with me this evening. Props to Adrian Peterson Branch Manager on a wire to wire win! And nice work on the rest of the Top 3 for maneuvering all over the scorebeard tonight before deciding to land in the Top 3!

Grab the momentum and rock it all the through Saturday ya’ll! I will see you all at World Series X!

And don’t forget – NEXT WEEK KICKS OFF SEASON 11! New Team Names. New Scoreboard. New Adventures. And we start it all off with a question in the cateogry of “The Basketball Rule Book.” Til then… be well and I will see ya soon. dg 🙂

Tonight was our break night between the end of season 10 and the start of season 11. Quick shout out to all those people playing at the World Series on Saturday, good luck to you all and I hope to see you all there!
Even with the break week, we had a great crowd tonight at Bennigan’s for our weekly live trivia match-up! I’m dubbing Silly Putty the answer of the night, which stole the 5 point bonus chip from almost every team in the game tonight. “Kids Stuff” seemed so simple a choice for a bonus category and yet, it did some heavy damage on the playing field.
Congrats to Anderson Cooper?, the only team to get the points on that question. You guys faired quite well on the “Opera” question, perhaps next time instead of giving it the “dreaded” description, we can simply say “Time for some Opera trivia!” Going into the final tonight, Uncle Jack held the lead, Anderson Cooper? not far behind in 2nd, and My Favorite Team held on to 3rd place. The final proved to be a difficult one; no one got the correct answer… With that, no scores were shifted and our winners tonight were Uncle Jack, followed by AC and MFT. Once again, good luck at WS! We are back next week with the start of Season 11! Bring your full teams back out for our weekly game and we’ll keep track of those stats! Uncle Jack has won the House Title two seasons in a row now, let’s see if anyone can break the streak! Until then ;)1st Place: Uncle Jack
2nd Place: Anderson Cooper?
3rd Place: My Favorite TeamNext week’s category: Oakland Athletics

The Cellar Door – Frederick, MD

So it was a first for me, but we had teams hand in serious answers of Ru Paul and Jesus – for the same damn question! Lol. Oh Cellar, I love you so.

It’s always a good time in the underground, and tonight was no exception. It was topsy turvey at the final, Constantly Changing held on to a top 3 spot and picked up a 3rd while TNC shot themselves in to 2nd with a correct final answer while Grab a Straw, you suck didn’t let go of the top spot and coasted in to 1st.

Next week we will start off a new season with a question about 2000s Comedians who are not Dane Cook since Dane Cook isn’t funny. heheh. Good luck Saturday to all my WS teams and I will see you there!

The Olney Tavern – Olney, MD

I had a nice turnout of teams last night at the Tavern for trivia! It was also nice to see some teams that haven’t made it into the top 3 make a last round run and sneak in!

With a smart final wager, moving up to 3rd place was Men and Pausers! Having a GREAT second half after the puzzle page and taking 2nd place was Moving Forward! Your game winners tonight, however, are no strangers to winning, and they are known as I Just Quizzed in My Pants!

Good luck to everyone who are making an appearance this Saturday at the World Series, and next Wednesday at the Tavern starts Season 11 with the winners choice category of, “1990 Cincinnati Reds.”

See everyone back in Olney next week!!

Revolution Bar – Fairfax, Virginia

We had a nailbiter at Revolution tonight, in the last night of PreSeason!

Highlights of the night:

In “Close-But-No-Cigar”: Every team got the French Open. Every team got Rafael Nadal. But every team put Serena Williams, not Maria Sharapova. Interesting that everyone was on the same wavelength, but still so close and yet so far.

In “Head-Smacking-Answers”: Oh the groans. The groans when everyone realized I was talking about basketball in the 6-4-2. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

In “Deprived-Education”: Not nearly enough teams got Life of Brian. What’s worse, is not nearly enough teams understood my references to exploding penguins, fish slapping, and having a silly walk. For shame, that you all have been deprived of the Python’s Flying Circus.

The final proved to be a deciding factor and in the end we had a last second upset.

In third place, Mess and Jegg! Tough break guys, but good game.

In second place, GT80 Sauce! Way to hang in there guys!

In first place, jumping up, Movin on Up! Congrats guys, way to stick with it even after a tough start!

For their round category next week, the inaugural week of season 11, Movin on Up has chosen 90s R&B Audio! Should be interesting enough! Good luck to my teams at World Series, and we’ll see you next time!

Until then,

T. J. Stone’s – Alexandria, VA

One last tune up before the World Series, and one of the teams that will be in attendance was in fine form as they were one of only TWO teams to get the final answer correct.  The B-58s were back in the winner’s circle after a long absence, and hopefully that bodes well for their chances on Saturday.  After leading all night, Tony Romo Can Got to Hell had to settle for second, while We Came For the Beer jumped four spots on the final and took third.  Next week, Season XI begins with a question on Groundhog Day (NOT the movie).  ~ Matt

I had a number of new faces at tonight’s game of live trivia here at Valley Grill, always glad to see that!

The game was great fun, here is how it went down: Southpaw Fish in 1st, after a tie-breaker Fat Kids are Hard to Kidnap in 2nd, and I’m Just Here So I Don’t Get Fined in 3rd.

Good Luck at the World Series! Our first category for next week here at Valley is Billy Joel.
