Pub Trivia… Hopefully It’s Not “All Greek” To You!
The Pour House Trivia weekend schedule always provides some of our regular teams to check out a new venue, and that’s exactly what happened this weekend at all four of our weekend games. We hope you decide to make the weekend game a ‘second game of the week’. Who were the top teams this weekend?
THIS WEEKEND’S STATS & FACTS (22 teams across four venues):
–> Highest Overall Score: Give Us Your Beer Money (Pretzel & Pizza) with 169
–> Highest Score after Round 4: Give Us Your Beer Money (Pretzel & Pizza) with 158
–> Highest First Half Score: Give Us Your Beer Money (Pretzel & Pizza) with 91
–> Honorable Mention goes to the Off Beats, who were one point behind Give Us Your Beer Money at both the half and the final!
SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (14.3% success rate):
–> Nearly 700 different cover versions of this song have been recorded. It was originally written and named for a 1955 prison film, but re-gained immense popularity 35 years later, after its inclusion in a popular Oscar-winning film. What is this song? (You’ll find the answer later in the blog)
SUNDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (50.0% success rate):
–> The New Testament of the Bible was written in the Koine Dialect, a dialect of which language?
Belles’ Sports Bar in Frederick, MD
It’s always a nice change of pace when I get to fill in for Ronnie at Belles’, the familiar faces make me smile with your singing and smiles. We laughed, we drank, and we had a damn fine game. There were a couple kickers tonight, including that final! Whoa, my love, My darling. I’ve hungered, hungered for your touch a long, lonely time… In third place tonight, it was And We’re All out of Bubblegum! Not bad after have a couple clear moments of missing your MIA members… Second place went to Demented and Sad But Social, who were actually in first after round four. However, it was the Samantha Brooks Fan Club who lead the way to the podium after a strategic zero wager on the final. Nice job! Next week you will have Ronnie back!
First Place: The Fan Club
Second Place: Demented and Sad But Social
Third Place: And We’re All Out of Bubblegum
Next week’s first category: Triple 50/50 (Yankees or Red Sox?)
Pretzel and Pizza in Hagerstown, MD
There was a GREAT head-to-head battle for 1st place at Pretzel & Pizza Creations on Saturday night for trivia! Two teams kept trading 1st and 2nd place with each other after EVERY round, so when we finally got to the last question, a 2 point lead had BOTH teams discussing how they should wager it. Once the answers were tallied, this is how it looked… In 3rd was I’m Just Making This Up as I Go Along, battling HARD all game long but taking home 2nd were the Off Beats, and even though they were up & down all game, they got back up again at the right time to finish 1st, so mad props and congratulations to Give Us Your Beer Money!! They picked “1980’s Arcade Games” for this weeks winners choice, so study up and come have some fun with us this Saturday night at Pretzel & Pizza Creations!!
First Place: Give Us Your Beer Money
Second Place: Off Beats
Third Place: I’m Just Making This Up
Next week’s first category: 1980s Arcade Games

Captain Benders Tavern in Sharpsburg, MD
It’s finally beginning to feel like fall! Bender’s was packed with people rocking their team colors for football season as we dove into our second game of the new season. We started with a little Denver Broncos football and we wrapped up the round with our weekly hint of the day question. Round 2 of course began with our audio question, which was a Sam Cooke throwback to the 1960s (and a personal favorite of mine) and then we wrapped it up with a classic fave – Star Wars. You all killed it on the puzzle pages, and kept the scores neck and neck until the very end.
We kept it going in the second half with some cartoons and even some poetry, but it all came down to your linguistic prowess for the final… in the end, the scores looked like this:
First Place: Fisted Sister
Second Place: What Else Could It Be!?
Third Place: Boh’s & Hoes
Next week’s first category: John Wayne
The Beacon in Frederick, MD
No one could stop our first place winner at The Beacon on Sunday! I was hoping I might see a new highest score, but they missed two questions near the end that ruined the highest score chance. 🙁 Finishing third tonight was I’m Just Making this up as I Go Along, followed by I Like to Play With Myself… I Mean “By”, and crushing it for the win was the Witiots!! Join us next Sunday at the Beacon.
First Place: Witiots
Second Place: I Like to Play By Myself
Third Place: I’m Just Making This Up
First category next week: Triple 50/50 (“Monty Python’s Flying Circus” or “Kids in the Hall”?)
