You know what’s fun on your way to Bunkers in Leesburg for a game of pub trivia? Finding out what White’s Ferry really means the hard way 😛 I have to say though – surprisingly smooth ride!
Unexpected river-fording aside, we had a blast night! It was anybody’s game going into the finale, but Spam Eggs Bacon & Spam pulled ahead of the competition and snagged first with Indians and Wait For It climbing the ranks to second and third, respectively.
Get into the spirit by wearing your LiveStrong bracelets (remember those?) next week because your winners’ choice category is the Tour de France. I very easily could’ve gone for any number of Lance Armstrong jokes, but I took the high road and went after the bracelets 😛 Bunkers, it was a hoot and a half coming back, and I’ll see ya next time!
Claiming that we had a big night of some live Independence Day Eve trivia would be a gross understatement! Tonight’s trivia game at Champions was the largest regular night game in Pour House history – 27 teams started out on the roster! Needless to say, I was almost ready to call in some help on the hosting front! But we plowed forward and what a sick July 3rd pub quiz went down! WOW!
Up and down all night. 27 teams grappling for top spots! After a patriotic half time, we moved on into round 3 and 4, which mixed it up even more. Bonus categories were dropped, ground was re-gained, tossed around and turned upside down! The 6-4-2 twisted the Top 5 and round 4 stamped the theme: tonight was anyone’s game!
And I gotta say, scoring and watching a game like this unfold is a fantastic thing to watch! I very much enjoyed my evening with all of you. The final hit! And it hit HARD!!! Oh, remember the YUGO!
A HUGE congrats to our TOP 3 tonight! And fun fact, our Top 3 teams were a solo, a duo, and a trio! Much props y’all for coming in and handling bid-ness against a super-tough field!
With that…I’d like to wish all of you a very Happy 4th of July.
Thanks for playing tonight. And next Thursday we kick off with “Thin Lizzy” – the band! See ya then 🙂
Tonight’s game had Sic Semper Tyrannis, our veteran duo team, leading the way most of the game. Going into the final question, they held the top spot and, despite being one of 2 teams to get the correct answer on the final, they decided to go for a defensive wager and it cost them the number one spot. They finished in 2nd place behind last week’s winners Gone Squatchin’ who was the other team to get the correct answer! Great game teams. 3rd went to Humantaray who also bet a bit defensively. I’ll see you all next week, same time, same place! Later.
We welcomed a few new faces into Quincy’s for thei first experience with Pour House Trivia, and I hope we get to see more of you in the future, as we jammed 15 teams into the bar for a night of questions and answers. The game could not have been any closer atthe top of the leader board, as five points separated our our top six teams during the final round, but it was Lowered Expectations who managed to sneak into the lead and hang on for the victory. Captain Awesome and the Wonder Friends took second, with Uncle jack in third. Have a great holiday and we’ll see you next week with a question onthe U.S. National Parks! ~ Matt
