Pour House Trivia’s Thursday: Primed for Halloween with candy questions!
Pour House pub trivia’s Thursday got you into the holiday spirit with a question about Nerds!
I’m more of a chocolate man myself, but Nerds in the Trick Or Treat bag were always a great trade fodder with my fruit candy friends!
Check out how all eight games of live trivia went below:
An exciting night at the Blue Parrott! The Quizknows had an overwhelming lead at halftime, but the second and third place prizes were still up for grabs, as each team was within 10 points of each other. Luckily, The Team pulled away with a non-catchable second place prize, but the third place prize came down to the wagerings. It was the MDs who took that third place prize, while also being the only team to get the answer correct in the final round.
The Quizknows have chose Star Trek as their winners choice category for next week.
It was a close game of live trivia tonight down here at Bunker in Leesburg; half the field had a chance to walk away the winners!
Several teams broke out the strategic wagers, and here is how the game went down:
Your Mom in 1st
Cake or Death in 2nd
Cranius Maximus in 3rd
Our first category for next week is The Coen Brothers Films!
We all learned something new at Champions tonight, I liked the founding fathers tidbit on the 6 point! We a good solid game tonight, much like I would expect from such a competitive venue- settling in to our new season. Don’t forget to check the website for things like the Star Wars game coming up- gotta keep it interesting, variety is the spice and all that 😉
You all were on point tonight, you bobbled a bit on the Roth question but over all you took it in stride and showed this set how you do. I think I had more trouble with the technical things tonight then you did with the questions.
The final was definitely not a coaster though and some teams struggled with this one. Once you got back from your trip around the world, we had a bit of a shake up at customs and the top 3 looked like this- 3rd went to Sad, Fat Dragons. 2nd was Charlie and the Vodka Factory who lost 1st due to a conservative streak! Power Vacuum was more than happy to take up that slack and flew on in to 1st tonight. Nice game!
Next week we will start with Charlemagne. Study up!
One word. Rager.
Okay, I’ll write more than that. But WOW, so many people! So many noise! It was chaotic in here tonight but we made it anyway! Not sure if it’s the changing weather that brought people inside, the beer, the sports, or the live trivia but MAN OH MAN there were a hell of a lot of bodies in that bar tonight! Thanks much to all of you who came out and played, especially those new teams, hoping you had a good time and want to come back and join us in the future!
This game seemed to be a match between our two veteran teams You’re Killing Me Smalls and Welcome to You’re Doom, as they traded the lead multiple times throughout the game. Doom held a tiny lead after the half and built upon it going into the final.
Before the final question, we had a candy question, which I’m deeming question of the night. Was it hard? NO. Was it tricky? NOT REALLY. But it helped me segue into a conversation about Bo Burnham! I love me some Bo. He was in DC this week; he’ll be in Baltimore in December. I’d love to see him live, but I may have to work – We’ll see! The NERDS candy question reminded me of Bo’s “Nerds” song off of the studio version of “what.” which I gladly played after the game, so that was cool. Almost 2 years of doing this and THAT was my first Bo Burnham song that I was able to play (a bit of profanity so I tend to keep it off the usual playlists, hehe.)
The final question tonight was pretty difficult. We were looking for countries with similar names. “Oh that’s easy. Iraq and Iran. Or Greenland and Iceland. Or Oman and Yemen. Or Austria and Australia. Or Barbados and Barbuda. Okay this is tough! Quite a few choices to pick from BUT it was in fact Austria and Australia that got you that money tonight! Winning tonight’s game was Welcome to You’re Doom, who picked up a correct response on the final and played one great game! 2nd place, not far behind, You’re Killing Me Smalls. 3rd place tonight was a new team who jumped into the money with a get on the final, congrats to CKC! Great game all! Back in a week! Keep this party rollin’!
1st Place: Welcome to You’re Doom
2nd Place: You’re Killing Me Smalls
3rd Place: CKC
I can barely feel my fingers as I type this – tonight was colder than a witch’s tit in a brass bra doing push-ups in the snow! Nevertheless, we soldiered on for an awesome game of live trivia!
Tonight we paid homage to the great Christopher Walken (who probably qualifies as my spirit animal by this point), pitched Tom Cruise’s next blockbuster (“Risky Business with Zeus” – instant classic!), and debated about whether or not T-Pain counts as a singer (for the record: if your claim to fame is that you’re known for your use of AutoTune, you’re not a f&$%ing singer!).
First and second were separated by only one point going into the final, but it was Moose & Squirrel who risked all and came out on top in the end, Faking Bad and Misfits took second and third, respectively. Next week’s winners’ choice category will be the TV show Supernatural.
Don’t forget about our “Star Wars” theme game on December 11! I’ll see everyone under the tent for our last session together! (*sniff*)
– Eric 😀
The crowd was moving and grooving to night to the music at Main Street Oyster House. We started live trivia off with a Taylor Swift song, and kept the tempo going.
Grundel Hammer secured the top slot for the second week in a row, while new comes Wooki of the Year came in second place. Solo player 10 years stole third in a well-played final question.
It was another great night of trivia at Quincy’s in Gaithersburg, as 13 teams settled in for our regular Thursday game. The teams played tonight’s tonight’s set nearly flawlessly, as numerous teams were within striking distance of the lead as we finished the fourth round of play. After the final question was asked, we needed a tiebreaker to determine our winners, but both teams gave me the same answer on the tiebreaker (both of which were almost on the nose), and so we needed a second (much more obscure) question to break the tie, and it was Suck It Frosty with their first win of the season! Blue Collar had to settle for second, with Lowered Expectations extending their lead in the overall standings by taking third place. We’ll start next week with a question on “The Blacklist”!
