Pour House Trivia Weekend Recap!

After a pair of unexpected cancellations, we hosted a bit of a light weekend of Pour House Trivia, with 14 teams across two Saturday venues.  Though they are comprised of veteran players, J.T. Snow School of Babysitting (Belles’) is playing under a new team name this season, which has proven to be an effective strategy.  Coming off a perfect score earlier this month, the team swept each of the first two rounds on Saturday, but finally faltered by scoring “only” 18 points on the halftime page, which featured pictures of Muppets.  Up the road in Hagerstown, Spicey Girls (Pretzel & Pizza Creations), was the only team to run the table with 20 points.  J.T. Snow School of Babysitting (Belles’) still topped the overall halftime leaderboard with  90 points.

After turning the game into a runaway in the second half, J.T. Snow School of Babysitting finally missed its first wagering question in two weeks with this query:

–> The state of Virginia is home to the country’s largest version of the 529 Plan, a financial service created to save money for which purpose?

Oddly, the highest scoring team of the weekend was the ONLY team to miss the correct answer of college tuition.  That was the only blemish on the scorecard, as J.T. Snow School of Babysitting rolled into the final question with 163 points.  Meanwhile, the top four teams at Pretzel & Pizza Creations sat within six points of each other, so a smart wager on this wicked final question made all the difference:

SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (7.1% success rate):

–> Which company purchased a domain name from American Farm Bureau Association, who earned over 8.5 million dollars from the sale?

Paying attention to the initials provided a key hint, as only one team figured out that the American Farm Bureau Association owned the domain name FB.com, which landed it a pretty penny after agreeing to a deal with Facebook.  Here are your highest scoring teams from last weekend:
