Pour House Trivia was BACK IN ACTION on Thursday!
Pour House pub trivia’s Thursday capped off a weird weather week! Just 7 days ago, we were off entirely for a mountain of snow, and this week, it’s in the 50s!
We were glad to see you guys back with us – check out the games!
It was nice to be back here in Leesburg and Bunkers after last week’s snowfall put our game on hold, great to see you all again.
After a 3rd place tiebreaker, here are the results of tonight’s game:
Your Mom in 1st
Cranius Maximus in 2nd
The Indians in 3rd
Our first category for next week’s game is Bar Games, so get out your pool cues?
Wrong Trivia Answer of the Night: YOMAMASAURUS!
Oh yes…the extinct reptile from the Cretaceous period lives on in our hearts and our live trivia nights! I vote it the best use “Your Mom” in a pub trivia answer this season!
Hehe! Great times tonight everyone! We had a stellar game tonight at Champion Billiards in Frederick, MD this evening! And finally had some great weather as well! It was nice to not have to thaw my fingers out before attempting to score on my laptop tonight. And the warm weather brought us some crews we haven’t seen in a bit. 17 teams played our game tonight and grappled with some tough second half questions – Middle Age Miscellanea & King james and House Stuart come to mind! But that don’t stop us throwing down, Thursday style! It stayed close and wasn’t decided until John Kerry decided it!
I’d like to give some props to Just Good Enough who put a wire to wire win down tonight against some very tough teams and a large field! Awesome stuff y’all! And 2nd and 3rd were decided with a MAD TV tie-breaker! Here is how the leader board finished out:
Thanks for playing tonight everyone. I wish you a wonderful weekend and a Happy St. Patrick’s Day! And speaking of, next Thursday we kick off our game with an “Irish History” trivia question!
Til then, be well and I will see you soon. DG 🙂
Another PACKED HOUSE at the Fish Market in Alexandria! This venue has sky rocketed from a decent live trivia hang out to THE RAGER OF THE WEEK!
Great to see all the people who come out to support what we do and those people who have a blast doing it! I know I do. Nothing makes me happier than to come spend the end of the week with you guys, putting up with your stupid quips, your shouting, your heckling, your kinda right/mostly wrong answers. Ah, the good things in life. No sarcasm intended; I legitimately have a blast hanging out with you all on Thursday nights!
Sorry to get all sappy, but it truly is awesome to be able to come host for you guys! This week’s game featured double digit teams, lots of vets competing to win the nightly trivia match, including Two Birds One Stone who have currently won 2 weeks in a row! Unfortunately (and fittingly), Welcome to You’re Doom was there to put an end to the glory. Two Birds played a good game but was just 1 point shy of hanging onto the lead by the end of the game, finishing in 2nd place after two weeks atop the leaderboard. You’re winners tonight (yes, I notice the grammatical error; it was a jooooooke!) are Welcome to You’re Doom who, as a trio, I believe, played phenomenally.
Doom was one of the few teams tonight to not get completely smacked upside the head with what seemed like one of the more difficult sets of trivia we’ve hosted in a while. After the first round, I had almost half the teams miss their 5 point bonus chip, and a few 9 and 7 wagers were thrown away on wrong answers as well. You’re Killin’ Me Smalls fell victim early to some bad wagering and difficult questions but managed to keep it together just enough to jump into 3rd place to round out our top 3! Great game tonight everyone. We’re back next week where the first category will be the American Civil War. Hope to see you then! Later 😉
1st Place: Welcome To You’re Doom
2nd Place: Two Birds One Stone
3rd Place: You’re Killin’ Me Smalls
Next week’s category: The American Civil War
Thursday night was a GREAT night for live trivia at Guido’s Speakeasy!
Most of my regulars were in the house to represent and kick ass, but one of my regular teams from a different venue that only came back in to use their 3rd place card (which they ended up winning LAST week after being one of the only teams to answer the final question right and moving up from 5th), made ANOTHER big splash this week!
Finishing 3rd was Tuna Noodle Casserole! Hoping for their third win in a row but having to settle for 2nd was Not Quite White! Coming back to Guido’s to visit me again, this time in 3rd before the final, and AGAIN being one of the only teams to get it right and become the 1st place winner – mad props to a pleasantly surprised and shocked Ollie Monsters!!
I guess you’ll have to come back one more time next Thursday to answer your winners choice question about “The Manning Brothers” (yikes!) and use that 50% off card!! See you at Guido’s next week!!

A nice big crowd last night at the main Street oyster house! We had a few of the usual suspects playing, but also a couple of teams who we haven’t seen in a while including team POW! And Trivia Newton John.
We had a pretty close game going for most of the evening, and in the final round I felt like everybody was being a little careless with their wagering because everybody wagered the full 12 points. This allowed a team that had been hanging around in fifth place to jump to second-place. And the team that had been in second place felt a fourth out of the winning. Clever team name ran away with the first place lead pretty much from wire to wire. Anal Bum Cover is had been hanging around the middle of the pack for a while but managed to close the gap and thanks to a correct answer in the final category they took second place with the Jaguars finishing and third.
First next week is the PGA Tour!
The week off did not slow down our teams at Quincy’s, as 15 teams piled in for some Thursday night trivia. As usual, our top teams were bunched near the top of the leaderboard, but it was a stellar performance from I Just Quizzed My Pants, who led wire-to-wire and was leading comfortably heading into the last question. After some impromptu editing, the final (eventually) ran smoothly, and a few teams did indeed give me the correct response. One of those was I Just Quizzed My Pants, who took down another win to take over first place in the overall standings. Lowered Expectations and Blue Collar rounded out our top three. next week, our game begins with a question on Current UFC Champions! ~ Matt
