Pour House Trivia is Becoming an East Coast Phenomenon!

Thursday was an epic night for Pour House Trivia, as we opened THREE new venues for the second night in a row, but this time we opened these venues in three different states!  North Carolina is now the SIXTH state to welcome Pour House Trivia, and we couldn’t be more excited.  But let’s not forget about our other new venues as well.  Read all about that, and our top scores, in our nightly recap:

THURSDAY’S STATS AND FACTS (64 teams across nine venues):

–> Highest Overall Score: Lowered Expectations (Quincy’s) with 175

–> Highest Score after Round 4: PC Principals (Fish Market) with 165

–> Highest First Half Score: PC Principals (Fish Market) with 92

–> Perfect 21 (correct on all wagers and final): Only about 25% of our teams answered correctly on our toughest question of the night (asking for the largest dam on the Columbia River in Washington), which led to NO TEAMS scoring a Perfect 21 tonight.

–> The halftime page played slightly more difficult than normal, with an average score of 15.8, as only two teams (Fisted Sister and PC Principals) scored 20.  About 30% of our teams recognized the original name of The Grateful Dead, scoring six points on the 6-4-2.

TONIGHT’S FINAL QUESTION (74.0% success rate):

–> Sean Penn earned his third Best Actor Oscar nomination for his work on which film whose title is identical to the opening line of a certain Dr. Seuss story?  (you’ll find the answer in this blog)

Quincy’s in Gaithersburg, MD

Tonight’s game could be summed up in one very important question:  why don’t you have Netflix?

It’s 2016, people.

Lowered Expecations has at least one team member who’s binged-watched their share of Netflix originals – which is exactly what they needed to take home first place!  Clever Team Name took second, and the Fan Club snuck into third!

Huge shout out to some new teams – Blood Sweat and Tears, Bobo Mango Rainbow, and The Trailblazers.  It was a hell of a night, I can tell you had fun!

I’ll be back next week – although the host may be someone new!

Champion Billiards in Frederick, MD

Man oh Man, it was good to be back on my Thursday night at Champions! We haven’t seen each other in weeks! Much too long. I do look forward to these weekly get togethers of ours and am thrilled that everyone seems to have kept their fingers. No frying frozen turkeys for this crew! Much too smart.. They some of them might not have proved how smart they were tonight, but they did prove how witty they are.. dental dam on the Columbia river indeed.. Oh you guys…

Was a crowded house tonight as all sorts of people came out of the woodwork on this Thirty Thursday! The game was good, and fast thanks to football, and the points piled high! Our final proved that you should never bank on an incredibly hard final and teams brought those finals up quick!

In 3rd tonight it was Power Vac, and they still have their gymnast score cards… 2nd went to the traveling team of Fisted Sister, thanks for traveling across the mountain!  1st went to the hard to beat Serenity Now!  Nice pull.

THERE IS NO TRIVIA NEXT THURSDAY NIGHT AT CHAMPION BILLIARDS!  I WILL BE BACK ON DECEMBER 8th!

Our first category for that game will be the band Rush.

Bunker Sports Cafe in Leesburg, VA

We had ourselves a brief hiatus down here at Bunker in Leesburg due to the recently past holiday and it was sure nice to see you all after the break. We had a beer fueled first category tonight, and we backed that up with some “backed up” song choices for the audio clue. “Dam” that was a great question in round 3, the teams were “truckin’” right through the 6-4-2, and we had a final question referenced famously in the hit comedy “Tropic Thunder”.  Here are the results:

First Place:  Indians

Second Place:  Thundercats

Third Place:  Taco Tuesday

Links at Challedon in Mount Airy, MD

Tonight at the Links at Challedon, we had a tight game which came down to the last question!  Our teams really enjoyed the audio round, which played famous songs in reverse.  Most of our teams were able to come up with the correct answers of Bob Dylan, Metallica, and Britney Spears!  Here are our final standings:

First Place: Balls Out

Second Place:  Italian Stallions

Third Place:  Greens in Regulation

Smoketown Brewing in Brunswick, MD

It was Opening Night at Smoketown Brewing, and we couldn’t have asked for a better first night crowd as Smokehouse ROCKED it, with a jam-packed (and very loud) competitive game.  While it was back and forth with first place when each round went on, a tough final question gave it to RAIDER NATION to take the 50 bucks and first place!  Congrats!  Don’t forget that there are only seven more weeks until the Season XIV playoffs, so make sure you keep coming back each week for a better chance of qualifying for that big $2,000 prize in January!

First Place:  Raider Nation

Second Place:  The Regulars

Third Place:  Ubergrupen

Morgan Ridge Railwalk in Salisbury, NC

A big thank you to the nine teams who came out to Morgan Ridge Railwalk’s inaugural night of Pour House Trivia on Thursday night!  In spite of some technical issues, we had a great opening night.  Congrats to our team of NC Teachers who took down the top prize and have asked us all to study up on, yes…”Education” for next Thursday’s game.

See you then…

Brooksville Brewing in Spring Hill, FL

An exciting start to the Brooksville Brewing Company Trivia Night!  We had some fierce competition this evening with our top trivia rivals being members of the same family.  The game was almost as scrumptious as the libations with some excellent trivia players battling it out for the coveted privilege of choosing next weeks’ bonus category.  It was neck and neck all night ending with our last question having zero correct answers!  I guess no one is really sure what is in V8 juice.  We had a great night tonight and I can’t wait to see what will happen next week. Congratulations to everyone who placed!

First Place:  Sic Semper Tyrannis

Second Place:  John Looks Dumb

Third Place:  I Dunno Man

Fish Market in Alexandria, VA

Aaaaand it’s December!  We were off last week for Thanksgiving and by the time we got back…. well, let’s just say “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!”  Well, not exactly, no snow yet BUT it is December and getting colder. Luckily it felt warm inside, and that’s where we were. Kickin’ back, drinkin’ beers, and playing some good ole trivia! Saw a good mix of new teams and veterans, including PC Principals, who have been downright fanTASTIC when they play here.

We expected no less tonight from PC Principals and we got no less as they had a strong lead going into the second half. The only perfect puzzle propelled them into a 6 point lead sitting pretty with a score of 92 points. Round 3 looked to slow down PCP who actually missed a wager question (Grand Coulee Dam) but they didn’t miss really anything else. Points kept coming to them and they soared through the second half.

Going into the final, PC Principals had a lock game.  Their 165 was too far for anyone to catch, 2nd place holding a 148 score.  Capital Cronies were sitting in 3rd or 4th late, but a correct response of “I Am Sam” on the final helped them jump up a bit and finish in 2nd place tonight.  A tie between Make Trivia Night Great Again and Adam’s Family was settled after a Closest to the Population Q.  Make Trivia Great Again takes down 3rd place!  Grats to the winners, PC Principals. Truly a trivia juggernaut at the Fish Market.  Until next week 🙂

Guido’s in Frederick, MD

Usually our trivia games at Guido’s Speakeasy on Thursday nights are epic battles, tonight however, didn’t have any crazy surprise endings or teams flip flopping in and out of the top spots. The top 3 AND their order was pretty much sown up by the end of round 3…

In 3rd place we had Friends of Dick Johnson, 2nd went to Spitters are Quitters, and asking another 1st place to their current streak, Unathletico Madrid was the winner!!  They choose “Marvel Comics Films” for next weeks winners choice,so study up and I’ll see everyone on Thursday night at Guido’s!!
