Pour House Pub Trivia’s Thursday is the place to be!
Pour House pub trivia’s Thursday packed a wallop! We journeyed into some classic tv with Green acres and covered everything under the sun with live trivia action in Virginia, Maryland and Florida!
The Blue Parrott – St. Petersburg Beach, Florida
Bunkers – Leesburg, Virginia
Once again kudos to the writing team for a great final question, this one pulled a huge cheer from the crowd as we had a huge upset in the standings! Here are the results after the smoke settled: Thundercats in 1st Cake or Death in 2nd Your Mom in 3rd Our first category for next week will be Horror Films, and don’t forget you are welcome to dress up if you want! ~ Ronnie
Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD
The owl and the cat went to sea, but they didn’t take Zsa zsa Gabor with them! Good night at Champions tonight, had some laughs with the usual suspects 😉 I resisted the urge to throw a Bazinga! but Just good enough certainly didn’t- they killed it tonight, played a very smart game and settled in to 1st on the final when they resisted the popular Casanova answer. 2nd went to Equestions, who may have pulled some faces but managed to pull some very good answers- could it have been the help of the new face on the team? We are going to have to keep an eye on you guys this season! 3rd came down to a tasty and hydrating tiebreaker between Power Vac and Charlie and the Vodka factory. Power vac might have not quite made it to the coveted three-peat 1st spot this week, but there was no way we were going to deny them a top 3 at the very least! Well done! Let’s do it again next week, when I am on less cold medicine, and we will start out with a Buffy the Vampire question – the TV show this time! ~Samantha
Fish Market – Alexandria, Virginia
Tonight’s game of live trivia was as bumpin’ as we’ve had in awhile! A lackluster NFL game but a mega-crowd, which must mean everyone’s catching the trivia bug this time of year! We saw familiar faces that have been away for a bit; we saw new faces who seemed to have a great time playing with us! Hoping to see more next week as Season 12 continues! It sure seemed like the Fish Market was the “place to be” tonight, not to be confused with Green Acres, the answer of tonight’s Question of the Night. When I read the category for “Classic TV Sitcoms” I had 1 team ask “Is that like The Simpsons or like The Brady Bunch?” My answer to them was “More like The Brady Bunch, though I’m not saying the answer IS The Brady Bunch.” Nonetheless, I still got a few The Brady Bunch answers from the field tonight for that question. Most teams getting Green Acres however, so good job on that. The real drama came with the 2 point bonus, a very crucial 2 point bonus. 2 Birds One Stone was winning for most of the game but the 2 point bonuses during round 4 gave Welcome to You’re Doom a chance to sneak into the top spot. Not 1, not 2, but THREE two point bonuses that Doom got without 2 Birds getting left them alone in the lead. BUT, the final question would determine the winner. 40% great rate on the final. Some good wrong answers including Figaro, The Barber of Seville, and Captain America. But only one RIGHT answer. Don Juan. Biggus Dickus bet zero, which kept them at their score, which proved a good decision, as they missed the final. Welcome to You’re Doom MISSED the final question, dropping into 3rd place, Biggus Dickus 2nd, and winning tonight, reclaiming the lead with a correct response, is 2 Birds One Stone! Great game. Back in a week. See ya then! 1st Place: 2 Birds One Stone 2nd Place: Biggus Dickus 3rd Place: Welcome to You’re Doom Next week: Clue the Movie
Guido’s – Frederick, MD
Another fun game of trivia is in the books from Guido’s Speakeasy! Of course, the final question had a hand in flip flopping the top 3 winners as well! Dropping to 3rd was T.N.C., moving up to 2nd was Sgt. McThrusty & The Poundhammers, and pulling off their 6th win in a row was the Bongo Sluts!! They picked the movie “Pootie Tang” for next Thursdays winners choice, so study up, and we’ll see if anyone can take down the champs next week at Guido’s!! ~ Jon J
Lake Linganore Association – New Market, MD
Main Street Oyster House -Bel Air, MD
Packed house tonight at Main Street Oyster house, 12 teams came to play but only 3 teams could be in the winners circle. Grundel Hammer maintained their hold on the 1st place at 153, Cup Chicks were an excited to take 2nd place 143. Kenneth Royals came in 3rd place. Next week we will be talking about Chris Columbus.
Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland
It looks like 15 teams is going to be the standard field size despite the fact that we are starting early at Quincy’s in Gaithersburg. Another theme this season is tiebreakers! Let’s see… last month we had the first-ever FOUR WAY tie for first place in PHT history. Last week, we need two tiebreaker questions to determine our winner. What would be in store for this week? Well, Lowered Expectations sent a clear message that they were not expecting a tiebreaker, as they led wire-to-wire and held a slight lead on the tightly-packed field. But, they missed the final question (for the first time in about a month), and it cost them another victory. So naturally, we needed a tiebreaker to determine tonight’s winner, and ONCE AGAIN, it was Blue Collar and Suck It Frosty deadlocked, and once again, Suck it Frosty took down the win! Fittingly, we also needed a tiebreaker for third place, and Nasty Neutrons snuck into third on our Gatorade themed tiebreaker. Next week, we’ll begin with a question on the Apollo Space Program! ~ Matt
