Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

I love Thursdays! Cool bar. Fun trivia. AWESOME AWESOME PEOPLE. Great times all around. There was a nice, fun energy in the air tonight. Maybe the change of season ahead is stirring things up. It was great times!

We had some fun questions this evening for sure. I think my 3 favorite cameos were:

– Wonder Woman and her Invisible Jet (not some of the other answers, Col. Angus!)
– The Mystery Machine
– Beer Pong, aka. Beirut!

The first half of the game tonight we had a PHT first (that I know of) in having a 4 way tie for first going into the 2nd half! And the rest of the teams were not far behind. This all equates to a scrumptious recipe for “GAME ON” cake! And the teams turned up the heat and we had a HOT second half. It was hard to tell how this one was going to end up. Props though to our Top 3 tonight, who climbed the ladder and landed a well earned spot on tonight’s leader board.

And honorable mention to 4th and 5th tonight (who get a few extra points since we broke the 15 team mark at Champions) – #Crampton and Rice Rice Baby. Props!

I’m back after taking a week off to party VEGAS STYLE! Gotta say, it felt good to return to the podium and be your trivia host for the evening! Glad to see all the familiar faces and ALSO great to see the NEWCOMERS! Hopefully every one of our new teams had a good time and maybe we’ll see you back next week? We’d LOVE to have ya!

Tonight’s question of the night was the Cover Songs question! About half of the teams remembered that cover of “Life is a Highway” BUT I only had ONE team nail the 2 point bonus telling me who originated that song in 1991. That team was Welcome to You’re Doom, who put on a clinic tonight and built a pretty significant lead going into the final. 2nd place was held on to by Drinking While Thinking and 3rd was a tie between Nulli Segundas and Trivia Newton John. After the final, bets and gets played a major part on the final standings. The 3rd place tie was broken by Nulli Segundas who got a correct response, one of the four teams to get it right. 2nd went to Drinking While Thinking, who also came up with a correct response, BUT it was Welcome to You’re Doom who locked the game down, winning by a single point after changing their bet to barely cover a 12 wager! Great game! We’re back in one week with more summer fun! Until then 😉

Guido’s – Frederick, MD

Another photo finish of an ending went down at Guido’s Speakeasy at our Thursday night live trivia game! There was a good amount of different wagers for the final question, but the top teams got it right so there were no crazy top 3 shuffling going on in the end. But finishing 3rd was Scotch Face! In 2nd we had T.N.C.!! And with a second 1st place victory in a row we had Trivia Team 2: Electric Boogaloo!!!

This week they went with “I’m Calling Shenanigans”, an old South Park reference, for next Thursday’s winner’s choice question, so study up and come by next week for some fun at Guido’s!!

Main Street Oyster House -Bel Air, MD

I’M BACK! So great to be back at the game.

Main Street was hopping tonight with new teams, new leaders, and lots of fun! New Comers Snap Dragons, and WeAreSMART took the 2nd and 3rd place slots in tonights game. 10 years a solo team took the whole game with 1st place. It was a lively crowd loving the tunes, and the questions!

Next week we are going to be talking about the art of beekeeping.

Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland

After a week off, it was great to come back to a packed house at Quincy’s on Thursday night, as 16 teams crammed in for a great night of trivia.  It was a wire-to-wire victory for Suck It Frosty, who took home their second win in a row with a stellar performance which included a perfect 94-point first half.  Second place went to Lowered Expectations, with Nasty Neutrons taking home their first top three of the season with a third-place finish. Next week, we’ll be back with a question on “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”!  ~ Matt
