Pour House Pub Trivia welcomes Tilted Kilt to Tuesday nights!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Tuesday got a bit bigger this week, with the addition of Tilted Kilt in Frederick!
It’s always a treat to add some new faces in new places, and we look forward to seeing more of you guys.
Check out Tilted Kilt and all the recaps!
There was only one story line for tonight’s game of trivia at Capitol City Brewing Company. The Capital Hillbillies (tonight playing as ‘And Tebow Makes Four’) simply steamrolled the competition. They had a sizable lead at the half, and only missed two possible points after the first three rounds. They were even flirting with the all-time record (which they already own). Considering the level of competition here, having a win locked down before the final question is an extreme rarity, but that’s what they had… well, until someone pointed out a scoring error. They were still up by 12 heading into the final question, but it was a very difficult final question that only three teams were able to snag. Not surprisingly, And Tebow Makes Four was one of those teams, and they were able to hold on for the win. Great job indeed! Capitol city Goofballs took second, with Menace to Sobriety jumping up several spots to take third. ~ Matt
18 teams at Champions tonight battling it out!
It was a fun game to watch as we had some traveling teams trying to get that those multi-venue points since we are a month away from playoffs! Everyone is starting to feel the heat.
It was an interesting final that seriously shook up the leader board- only two teams got it right and it threw Pulpit Fiction in to 1st from 7th! Impressive. It was a Purple mesa worthy showdown for second as the visiting team of heavy hitters, Fisted Sister faced off with the favorite solo team of Newton’s minion over the yellow trucks. It was Fisted Sister who took second (After leading the whole damn game) and Newton’s minion who is bringing up a very respectful 3rd in a giant field of good teams.
I will see you next week when Pulpit Fiction pays a little homage to what got them into first – Country Music 🙂
Great night of live trivia as always here at Cugini’s Restaurant in Poolesville, these players know how to have some fun!
It took a trucking company tiebreaker to settle it all tonight, so here are your final results:
Drunk N Disorderly in 1st
How I Met Ronnie in 2nd
MoMo in 3rd
Our first category for next week is James Bond Films.
I had a couple of new teams play tonight at Celebrity Bar & Grill, but what happened in the end of the game for one team just broke my heart!
Only 1 member of this team could make it out, but this guy held 1st from round 2 until the final question – the final question wasn’t kind. BUT STILL finishing 3rd as a solo act was New Kids! Moving up to 2nd place was American Outlaws!! It looks like the final tonight DID help out a team who almost had their streak ended, but finishing in 1st for a THIRD week in a row: Jersey Shore!!
They picked “Quantum Physics” for next weeks winners choice question and don’t forget to check the website to see where your team is in the Nationals Tickets Give-Away! See you at Celebrity Bar & Grill next Tuesday!!

If tonight’s live trivia game at La La were a dish; I’d give it my grandmother’s secret lasagna recipe – you don’t know exactly what spicy combination of goodness you are biting into, but you don’t really care cuz it tastes so damn good! Mmmmhmmm! Love my grandma, and love me some La La on Tuesdays! I aspire to be the nice warm garlic roll that goes with it well and loves to get all mixed up in the sauce!
So OK, before I over-extend with that metaphor – good times at La La licious this evening! Thanks everyone for coming out and playing. It was a beautiful day out and I appreciate you coming and nightcapping with me at trivia night La La style.
And it was a great game – very close the whole ride! Teams were bunched most of the game. There were some fun questions, tough questions, and the occasional Easter egg. Here are my pics for Answers of the Night:
1. Heffalump! (between this and waxplant we had a field day – and by ‘we’ I mean I amused myself and everyone felt sorry for me.)
2. Mambo – good music and a tough spot that was a turning point of the game!
3. Uvula – its fun to say, and it deserves more attention! I’m a fan!
Thanx again for playing my friends! Was good seeing you all this gorgeous Tuesday evening! Congratulations to our Top 3 studs this evening!
Stink Floyd have asked us all to brush up on some Seinfeld Trivia for next Wed. night! So until we meet again, be well, have fun, and I will see you soon. DG 🙂
It seems that today was just the day for sports fans. With the NHL playoffs, NBA playoffs, and both the O’s and Nat’s playing today, there was no shortage of games to watch. Congrats to both Washington teams on their playoff victories today, I know I’m not the only one happy about that! Oh yeah, there was also a trivia game going on tonight, and it turned out to be a fun one! Between Winnie the Pooh, robots, a *ahem* controversial halftime page, and a total of two points separating 1st and 3rd place, it was a close one all the way through.
Tonight’s final question proved to be quite difficult, with almost every team guessing Michael Jackson for the solo artist who passed Elvis for 2nd on the list of most albums sold in the US. Unfortunately that was not the right answer, with a few teams handing in the correct answer of Garth Brooks! (Do the Chris Gaines albums count??) This ended up changing the final standings a bit. In third place was the Book Club Babes, who were playing at half strength tonight, which was impressive. In second place was One Crow Short of a Murder, who despite all their complaining, were in the lead heading into the final. Our winners tonight were one of two teams (along with the Day Drinkers!) to get the final correct, congrats to I Took The Liberty Of Fertilizing Your Caviar who were playing as a duo tonight! Well done gents! They decided to pick African Capitals for the opening category next week (a team after my own heart!) which will definitely be fun!
Until next time,
What a great opening night of pub quiz at Tilted Kilt Frederick!! We had a classic battle of veteran teams and newcomers, as every team quizzed their way through our four rounds.
We were reminded that baseball really IS America’s pastime, that R.O.B. was not actually in Rocky III, and that some bonus points are just out of reach for most teams.
As the game came to a close, the field was set for a dramatic finish. The scores were close, the betting strategic and we had our top three. In third was BTI, followed by You’ve Got Male Genitalia in second. Coming in hot was the merged STDB/Wise Acres superteam, who just goes by STDB now, with a strong finish.
Thanks everyone for coming out on this first night! I hope to see you back here next week, as we tackle the first category, as chosen by STDB: Land Grant Colleges.
See you next week!
“Another night, another dream, but always you.” That is a line from a dance hit from the early 90’s by The Real McCoy, a fitting beginning to a recap on my very own unofficial 90’s night!
Throughout the game it was all 90’s music (except for a minor slip-up when I thought Jimmy Eat World was a 90’s band). Along with these 90’s hits, we had a fun-packed game of live trivia for the crowds. Whether they were out to watch the Nats, the Caps, the Wizards, the O’s, the Rockets (what, just me?), or maybe just out for the good times, it seemed like everyone in the place was engaged in our game! It was great to see such a crowd participating!
Along with our regulars, we had a surprise visit from PHT veterans Uncle Jack, who decided to come out and kick some butt at Quincy’s. They lived up to their desires, leading for most of the game, holding a 7 point lead going into the final and, with a correct get on the last question, taking down the win! Congrats Uncle Jack, and good to see you all again! 2nd place goes to one of our new teams Bazinga! Consisting of a duo, Bazinga started playing last week, had a great time and locked in plans to come back and join us this week! Good thing they did, 2nd place is definitely an achievement with the amount of competition we’ve got in here! Hoping you guys decide to become regulars at our game; very happy to have ya! 3rd place went to the Big Fact Hunt, who unfortunately missed the final question but were able to lock in 3rd place because of the lead they’d built up on the rest of the field. Great game all! Hoping everyone has a good week and we’ll see you all back next Tuesday night!
1st Place: Uncle Jack
2nd Place: Bazinga
3rd Place: The Big Fact Hunt
