Check out the games, gang.

The Blue Parrott – St. Petersburg Beach, Florida

What an exciting match! All six teams were close at the finish, but it was Nolo Contendre who pulled it out! There was a tie in third, which The Losers pulled it out. Congrats to all the teams. Next week’s winner’s choice category is Law Terms.

Thankfully no singing tonight from me, but the folks at Bunker were singing tunes of joy over some of our finely worded question choices for our game. Good job to you all!

Here are the results of tonight’s action:

Your Mom in 1st

The Indians in 2nd

Thundercats in 3rd

Our first category for next week is the Mel Brooks classic Spaceballs.

Inconceivable! It happened again! Our final question turned our leader board all the hell around. We had some don’t wake daddy action and teams snuck all the way around without people even noticing – impressive. Even more impressive was how many people knew that adding eggs makes it french vanilla! I had no idea. Consider me educated. I did however know that Gilligan’s Island was not the answer to our final question- although I think there should absolutely be an act of congress to give us an official landing place for Gilligan and the Skipper.

Once the island was reveled to be none other than Liberty Island, it was a bit of a surprise to most of our top 3 when the places were read. It was Vitrifiers who landed in 3rd after leading for much of the game- not nearly enough dancing. 2nd went to Charlie and the Vodka Factory and first was fun to announce- Power Vacuum! Well played! I loved all the hands in the air too. I will see all you jezebels and gents next week and we will start out with the Soviet Union. I like it! Well, until I need to pronounce it I am sure 😉

Two hours of traffic on I-495 would NOT keep me from coming to you LIVE to host the weekly trivia game! You look forward to it, I look forward to it, the bar looks forward to it; it is a MUST happen and I wasn’t gonna let something stupid like people not knowing how to drive keep me from attending! I showed up with maybe 10 minutes to spare, giving me time to set up, get everyone signed in, and get things rolling. I was a bit afraid that a late set-up would hurt my attendance numbers but it actually worked out very well. I had a double digit number of teams tonight, which included more than half completely new teams, always great to see! We welcome all new players and encourage you all to come back to us!

Tonight’s question of the night honor goes to an early question. Round One Question 3 showed us our first juicy question of the night with the 3-part ‘Starts with “BE”‘ question. We asked about a giant beast that appears in the Book of Job. A lot of teams locked in on “Beelzebub” and didn’t look back, dropping their highest available wager, assuming they had that right and at least one more of the other two.. Not the case here, as I had at least 4 or 5 teams come up empty on this one. This made for a significant jump ahead of the group for the teams that played this question well.

Usually, when a field is dominated by new teams, it’s the veterans that show they truly are the cream of the crop. Tonight was no different as we saw veteran teams Welcome to You’re Doom and You’re Killing Me Smalls hold the top two spots all night and soar over the competition. This just goes to show that the more you come out and play with us, the better you’re likely to do! Don’t get discouraged, just keep bringing yourselves out and see what happens in the future!

Going into the final question, Doom was up an insurmountable 14 points, which locked the victory for them. Smalls was ahead by a few to our 3rd place team Chris Knows Nothing, a new team. The final went zero for the field BUT no one really made wager adjustments so the standings kept in tact even after the devastation took place. 2nd place went to You’re Killing Me Smalls and 3rd place to a new team, Chris Knows Nothing. Thanks for coming out tonight, hope everyone had a good time, we’re back in 1 week with more Season 12 trivia! Hope you’ll join us then!

1st Place: Welcome to You’re Doom
2nd Place: You’re Killing Me Smalls
3rd Place: Chris Knows Nothing

Next week: Cuban Missile Crisis

Guido’s – Frederick, MD

We had a sweet head to head battle for 1st place last night at Guido’s Speakeasy for trivia. Going into the final question, the team holding 1st had just a one point lead! It was coming down to how you wagered and/or getting the answer correct.

This is what happened: Finishing 3rd was a new team that I hope will be back regularly, Team Casey! The final decided their fate and dropping back to 2nd was Aids Quilt! Being the only team to get the final correct and moving into 1st to keep their current winning streak alive (I think this is 4 in a row!) was Bongo Sluts!

So come see us next Thursday night and see if you got what it takes to take them down at Guido’s Speakeasy!!!

As we get ready to wrap up the fall session of Pour House Live Trivia, the zingers just keep flying back and forth! Y’all are a fun crowd, and I love bits-ing with ya! Seriously, that Woody & Buzz joke is a killer every time. You’re welcome 🙂

Tonight we filled our pub trivia cornucopia with conversations about auto-erotic asphyxiation, whether or not “Pixels” technically counts as a comedy, and the seriously messed up concept of “Don’t Wake Daddy.” I get what the writing was trying to do, but could we not have found a better word than “arousing?” I swear we must have ended up on a few government lists with that one 😛

Moose & Squirrel were in top form tonight, but were knocked down to second place in a neck-and-neck finale with Faking Bad emerging victorious. Rounding out third was Misfits with a come-from-behind correct answer to the finale!

So next week’s category is near and dear to my heart. If I’m remembered for nothing else, it’ll be my Christopher Walken impression – so that’s the category! He’s one of the best, so we’ll honor him next week. Pocket watches will be optional 😛

See ya next week!

– Eric 🙂

All for now – thanks!

The questions were tough, but the teams were tougher.

Grundel Hammer came in first by a landslide at 150 points. Followed by Cup Chicks who have maintained a presence on the leaderboard for 3 weeks! Black dogs finished up the round in 3rd place.

In true fashion we will be talking about everyone’s favorite singer next week Taylor Swift, love to hate her or hate to love her, we all know who her boyfriends are!

Quincy’s – Gaithersburg, Maryland

Another full house at Quincy’s, as 15 teams piled in for the lead-in to Thursday night football.  Tonight, it was Lowered Expectations taking the lead on the first question and never looking back.  They were also one of just three teams to pick up the correct answer on the final, and put together and impressive victory.  Second place went to Suck It Frosty, who recovered nicely after a couple of first-round hiccups.  John Lithgow Fan Club rounded out our top three by jumping several spots on the final.  Next week, we’ll begin with a question on the Showtime series “Ray Donovan”.  ~ Matt
