Pour House Pub Trivia nights bring fun, whimsy…and sometimes even a celebrity encounter or two!

Ok, I jinxed it a LITTLE bit by talking too much about how great the weather has been, but the sun came out eventually!

Three days of awesome weather, and three nights of AWESOME Pour House pub trivia!

We put “The Safety Dance” AND “Who Let The Dogs Out” both in your head in one night!

Actual true facts of the night!

  • Al the Octopus is named after Al Sobotka, the poor guy who had to scrape octopi the fans tossed onto the ice!
  • The picture Nolan Ryan gets the most autograph requests for is this one!

Check out the night – and find out about that celebrity encounter!

Atlantic Grille – Urbana, MD

I got to substitute host at the Atlantic Grill tonight for trivia and I must say, they have some colorful names for a few of those teams! I Loved it!

The real competition tonight was the battle for second and third place because first place was actually locked up after the second question of the first round!

After some interesting wagers and then the final question, this is how tonight worked out…. jumping into third place after the final question, a huge second half resurgence, was Team Jared!

Holding onto second place was Men in Pausers! With a 50 point cushion at the end, your game winners tonight… Strangers Have the Best Candy!!

I feel for you next week Eric, because for their winners choice question they chose “Disney Princess Ballads: as sung by Eric Jones”!!

Apparently they do this to you often at Atlantic Grill? Either way, good luck! Everyone else… if you want to see Eric sing Disney Princess Ballads, then get your buns to Atlantic Grill next Wednesday night!!

Barefoot Bernies – Hagerstown, MD

TV Cameras, lights, a TV crew and the group of Romanichal sisters that are stars of the TLC reality show “The Gypsy Sisters” were all over the Bernies/ Cancun Cantina complex this fine Wednesday night. The ladies did decide to stop in and say hello to us over at Pour House Trivia. Needless to say, it was a crazy night tonight in Hagerstown!

Pour House Meets the Gypsy Sisters

Amidst the craziness, we did manage to have some fun and play a little pub trivia tonight as well. We had our veterans as well some crews we haven’t seen in a bit. And of course, some first timers gave it a shot as well. It was indeed a close one at the finish line. And after a good handful of strategic final wagering mixed in with some crafty Nolan Ryan pulls…our Top Three Board went down like this:

1st: Slapsgiving – who overcame a Round One speed bump to take down the W. GG yall!
2nd: Too HUsky for Sandusky – I saw the wave when I announced MLB as a final 🙂
3rd: I am the Machine  -as a DUO! No easy feat at Bernies my friends! GG!

Awesome night! And some great wrong answers tonight…my fav’s were:

1. 7 LETTER name for a group of kitty cats: BROTHEL
2. Island NOT in Europe or Asia with 20,000+ people: FANTASY ISLAND..D’OH!
3. Chivalry honor with a lingerie-ish name: ORDER OF THE G-STRING!

I love my Wednesday nights! 🙂 Have a great week everyone…next Wednesday we start off with “UHF”  – the Weird Al Yankovic film. Fun Fun! See you then 🙂

Bennigan’s – Clarksburg, Maryland

Lots of new teams joining us tonight, but our veteran teams are showing how experience can help close out a game. The Usual Suspects led all night and, sure enough, took down the victory.

Another veteran team, Uncle Jack, secured second place while we had a newcomer lock up third place on the strength of winning a tie breaker over Team Janet… That team was Giant Inflatable Whatevers!

It was a lot of fun; we had almost 20 teams playing. At a new venue, it is clearly always growing, so make sure to come back next week and bring your “A” game to have a shot to lock it down! Until then.

1st Place:  The Usual Suspects
2nd Place: Uncle Jack
3rd Place: Giant Inflatable Whatevers

Next week start’s with the British TV Show Doc Martin!

The Cellar Door – Frederick, MD

Cellar you never dissapoint but tonight you were on point! Good times were had by all but no better time was had than by One Crow Short of a Murder- They took the lead tonight and just kept rollin! Flew away from the competition and took first tonight.

Second went to Donner Party, who were down a member but still managed to make their presence known… third was a comeback story- the gentlemen of TNC were flying solo but still made it happen!. Nice job guys!

I will see you next week for more good times, and a first category of Trailer Park Boys. That should be interesting. hehe. Be safe!

Fast Eddie’s – Fairfax, Virginia

We had an excellent game tonight at Fast Eddie’s in Fairfax, VA!!  The weather was warm, the beer was flowing, and the questions were flying!

The scores, you ask? Here’s the skinny: Mess & Jeg took the third place spot tonight, stayin’ in the money!

In second place was Movin’ On Up with an impressive showing and some strategic wagers!!

The first place spot was reserved for our leaders throughout the game, NO BRAINZ @ THE BAR!! Their choice of first category for next week?

A personal favorite of mine: 90’s ONE HIT WONDERS!!

See you next Wednesday!!

The Olney Tavern – Olney, MD

My new friends at The Olney Tavern are still getting to know me, and it’s a little bit of silliness sneaking in each week!

I got to bust out my not-very-good Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry impression for the fine people of Olney. It did not go over very well.

They also got their first taste of my trademark OVER pronunciation to make sure people follow what I’m saying, i.e., tonight’s three clues one RIGHT-errrrr. Three clue one RIGHT-errrrrr.

In third place, we had the #Dumbassses!

Taking second was Only The Lonely!

And your winners, who took down the Nolan Ryan question, I Just Quizzed In My Pants!

Great games, all!

Next week, we’re going to start with the TV Show Dexter!

T. J. Stone’s – Alexandria, VA

Our Season IX standings race at T.J. Stone’s in Alexadria has been heating up lately, as we have had six different winners in the last seven weeks, and that trend would continue this week, as Virgins and Congress: Thanks for Nothing took down their first win of the season after hitting the final question!  After a couple weeks off the podium, Octothorpe took second, with Winners in Life taking third.  Next week begins with a question on the critically-acclaimed cinemtaic classic: Spaceballs.  See you next week!  ~ Matt

Valley Grill – Middletown, MD

Great game of trivia tonight at the Valley Grill Sports Bar in Middletown!

Give it up for FNQ, who came out on top as a three piece in a very tough field. Shake Weight held on late in the game and with a correct final moved up into second, while Your Mom’s Horcrux also did very well finishing in third.

Our first category for next week will be The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

See ya! ~ Ronnie
