Post-holiday Monday with Pour House Pub Trivia!

Pour House pub trivia‘s Monday got into a little US Geography (personally, my worst subject!) but we soldiered on for four great games of pub quiz action – check it out!

Del Ray Pizza – Alexandria, VA

Everyone was back and still throwing out the holiday cheer down here at DRP in Alexandria, what a fun game we had tonight! We had a couple of twisty questions tonight, and any chance we have to speak a little Klingon and you had me at “nuqneH”. Here are the results, and I hope you all have a Happy New Year:

Santa’s Lil Helpers in 1st

Periodic Table Dancers in 2nd

Worst Case Ontario in 3rd

Our first category for 2016 will be Harry Potter!

il Forno – Frederick, MD

JAM PACKED tonight at il Forno as we saw the team count rise to a whopping 13, the highest it’s been for a while now! Great to see the level of success and interest in live trivia night, let’s ride this momentum into the new year! BUT before we start talking about the New Year, let’s talk about tonight’s game.

Last week’s winners Quick Pink and the Vine Gang started the game strong, leading the pack after the first round, set to repeat their performance. A little travel team in Ollie Monsters made some trouble for them though, trailing by only a few points as the second half began.

Round 3 began a bit rocky for QP as they used the infamous “reverse betting” strategy, 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 on the round questions. They missed the first 2 questions which looked dangerous as the round continued HOWEVER they were able to pick the pieces back up and finish the 3rd round strong, only missing out on points for the first 2 questions.

Going into the final, Quick Pink had a 6 point lead on the Ollie Monsters. A correct response on the final would lock the game for them. Of our 13 teams, only 3 were able to pick up a correct response, and those 3 teams would finish in the top 3 tonight! Here it is: 3rd place tonight, with a correct response, Chicken McThuggets, who made an impressive jump up the ranks to fall in the money! 2nd place tonight was Latrilla & the Mossy Banks who fall JUST SHY of Quick Pink who make it 2 in a row with that one!

Thanks for coming out tonight and playing! We’re back in a week! Chad starts working Monday nights again so I don’t think Quick Pink will be around again for awhile! Though they left us with a little present: 1980s NHL trivia for their Winner’s Choice! Hope you all enjoy! See ya in seven 😉

1st Place: Quick Pink and the Vine Gang
2nd Place: Latrilla & the Mossy Banks
3rd Place: Chicken McThuggets

Next week: 1980’s NHL

Roast House Pub – Frederick, MD

Tonight’s game of live trivia was interesting to say the least at the Roast House. And by interesting, I mean tonight was rough. Really rough. It was a long night, and I don’t think reliving it is going to do anyone any good, so let’s just get to the good stuff.

In a tough tiebreaker loss, third place went to Cher’s Zombie Army!

Winning the tiebreaker and taking second place, Multiple Scorgasms!

Coming into my house tonight, and taking it down, my little brother and his friends the Slick Willies! Darn kids!

Good job tonight guys, in the face of a long hard night. Next week we’re gonna kick things off with the category entitled I Swear It’s Just Ectoplasm. It’s a category about ghosts. Hopefully things will be better next week, in the New Year! Happy New Year everyone!

Until then,

Spider Kelly’s – Arlington, VA

What else is there to say?  Another week, another win for High School Prom at Spider Kelly’s in Clarendon.  Only three teams picked up the correct response on the final question, and HSP was one of those successful closers, making it SEVEN in a row!  Can they keep up this hot streak as we head into the post-season?  We’ll see….

Two other teams with nice performances tonight were PC Principles, whose smart wager locked them into second place, and Ives Mansion, whose nice pick-up on the final question bumped them into third place.  We’ll start 2016 with a question on the U.S. Supreme Court.  See you next year!  ~ Matt
