Our Weekend Players are Always Hungry for Trivia!
Thanksgiving is almost here, so we had some very enthusiastic teams ready to roll through our two weekend games of Pour House Trivia. Can you believe that we are down to just two months before World Series XIV? Time is flying by – before you know it, stores will already have Christmas decorations posted. Oh wait… Anyway, onto the recap!
WEEKEND STATS AND FACTS (14 teams across three venues):
–> Highest Overall Score: And We’re All Out of Bubblegum (Belles’) and Uncle Jack (Belles’) with 171
–> Highest Score after Round 4: And We’re All Out of Bubblegum (Belles’) and Uncle Jack (Belles’) with 159
–> Highest First Half Score: And We’re All Out of Bubblegum (Belles’) and Murph’s Masters (Belles’) with 90
–> Perfect 21 (correct on all wagers and final): Uncle Jack (Belles’) and Boh’s and Hoes (Captain Benders)
–> No teams were able to score a perfect 20 on the halftime page, but Fisted Sister (Captain Benders) topped the field with 19. About 40% of our teams landed six points on the 6-4-2 question.
SATURDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (28.6% success rate):
–> In addition to Bhutan and Nauru, these two countries also made their Olympic debuts in Rio last summer. One is an African country that gained its independence in 2011, while the other is a European country that declared its independence in 2008. Name BOTH of these countries.
SUNDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (60.0% success rate):
–> Which city hosted the first playoff game in NBA history to be played outside of the United States?
(you’ll find the answers later in this blog)
Belles’ Sports Bar in Frederick, MD
What the hell happened to the warm weather? It ended up being a blustery Saturday here at Belles’ for our weekend edition of Pour House Trivia. Our first category tonight was the “tale of a fateful trip”, and we found out through the course of the 1st half which actor doesn’t want there image immortalized on a pinball machine. These folks were on point in the 3rd round, and we breezed through in one of the fastest rounds I can recall. We had a tie for 1st going into the final question, and since our top two teams were the only ones to come up with the correct final answers of South Sudan and Kosovo, it took a Presidential tie-breaker to settle it all. Here are the results:
First Place: And We’re All Out of Bubblegum
Second Place: Uncle Jack
Third Place: Smarty Pants
Next weekend’s first category: Triple 50/50 (Mensa or Hooters?)

Pretzel and Pizza Creations in Hagerstown, MD
There was no trivia at Pretzel and Pizza Creations in Hagerstown this weekend. Jon returns on November 27th with the first category of the Indiana Pacers.
Captain Benders Tavern in Sharpsburg, MD
The wind blew in some Newbies tonight for our game at Captain Benders! We kicked things off with a little Billy Madison and wrapped up Round 1 with some World Geography. Our audio question to start Round 2 threw it back to some 80s film titles and we topped it all off with some Candy! We had to have some Thanksgiving style questions for our halftime puzzle page tonight since I won’t see you again until after Turkey Day, too!
The scores we neck and neck going into the second half, which began with a classic Over Under and finished it with a little Monarch Mania. You guys were lightening fast with the 6-4-2, anxious to get into Round 4 with a few Tourism Brands and some TV Land. But it all came down to NBA firsts to determine who took home the prizes tonight, with a couple of teams coming up with the correct answer of Toronto. Here are your final standings:
First Place: Boh’s & Hoes
Second Place: Fisted Sister
Third Place: Manischewitz and his Grapes of Wrath
Next week’s first category: “Full Metal Jacket”
The Beacon in Frederick, MD
Our Sunday game at The Beacon started off strong for one team that I thought had a chance to end the Witiots win streak, but then had a rough second half that ended their chance. 3rd went to I’m Just Making This Up As I Go Along, 2nd went to the Survivors, and 1st was once again, the Witiots!! In an attempt to challenge me, next weeks winners choice will be “Jon sings Classic TV Theme Songs”! So come out to The Beacon next Sunday for a laugh AND a game!!
