Oh what a night! Pour House Pub Trivia Tuesday recap!

Pour House pub trivia brought you seven great games of live trivia on Tuesday!

Our friends at Markham’s were off, but we still brought the thunder everywhere else!

Capitol City Brewing Company – Arlington, VA

It was another great night of live trivia at Capitol City Brewing Company in Shirlington, as two of our best teams were neck-and-neck all night.  Capital Hillbillies (tonight playing as ‘I Pity Da April Fool in the Rain’) and Cpaitol City Goofballs were trading the lead back and forth, but our final question shifted things about just a little.  The Capital Hillbillies hung un for the win, with the Stamp Collectors taking second, and some out-of-towners: Intangible Assets taking third.  Next week, we’ll begin with a question on the Mel Brooks film “Blazing Saddles”!  ~ Matt

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

The good 4rd round giveth and the good 4rd round taketh away! Oh man! A couple of those questions knocked our teams low in a good old fashioned humbling! They never flagged though, and just kept pushing!

It was fun to watch the rally: it’s how you come back together after a couple tough questions that really shows a team dynamic. 3rd went to the gentlemen of BTI, they had a hellva rough wrap up but hung in there with all they had. 2nd went to the no fuss, no muss Jungle Fever and 1st was no giant surprise- Thundercats! Ho! Nice job all, thanks for coming out.

I will see you next week for a first category of Arrested Development. Have a good week!

Cugini’s Restaurant – Poolesville, MD

We had a hotly contested game of live trivia here at Cugini’s in Poolesville.

A few new faces rolled in, and really turned it on the already tough trivia masters here every Tuesday!

Here are the results of the game:

Level 3 Booksellers in 1st

Stephen Hawking’s School of Dance in 2nd

MoMo in 3rd

Join me again next week where our first category will be the undisputed master of horror, Stephen King.

Hollywood Casino – Perryville, MD

I think I had one of my best turnouts for trivia at the Celebrity Bar & Grill tonight. A couple teams that haven’t been in since before I started hosting made it there tonight and hopefully I will see them on a more regular basis from now on!

I was a little worried that I would have to use a tie-breaker tonight since there was a two-way tie for 2nd going into the final question tonight, but because of the way the teams decided to wager, it was broken up for me! Finishing 3rd tonight was New Kids! 2nd place was taken by Creswell’s Fairies!! Taking 1st place for a second week in a row was American Outlaws!!

They picked Grease (the film) for next week’s winners choice question, and don’t forget that next Tuesday also starts the in-house tournament for Nationals tickets! It will be running from April til the end of May and the top 3 teams in points will get a free pass to this seasons World Series, so study up and I’ll see everyone in a week!!

Markham’s – Bethesda, MD

Markham’s is getting a major facelift over the next few weeks, so we will be off of trivia until April 21st! That’s about a month from now.

When we come back, the round one category, courtesy of Uncle Jack, will be professional wrestling, as in the WWE and such! You guys have plenty of time to study, so I expect you guys to be experts when we
come back! Especially since that’s the day after my birthday; let’s make it a party! See you then, guys!

Until then,
Ian

Monkey La La – Frederick, MD

Monkey La La trivia night was in action on this fine Tuesday 2015 evening! We had a nice share of fun questions, double entendre’, pick up lines, and some flat out great times – I even managed to toss in a few zingers of my own, in my “8th grade class clown” style of humor, of course 🙂 And the midst of all the fun and games, a game of bar trivia busted out!

The first half was fun enough – complete with some calligraphy, Cake songs, and Savignon Blanc (a nice recipe for a good time on any night of the week if you ask me). Then round 3 hit! Oh yes! It packed a punch. The ole Dairy Cow question had a serious bite on it and hurt some teams.

Follow that up with a monster of a physics question in R4 and a ham sandwich to finish it off, and we had a full fledge score board upheaval! And that made for a great and close game going into the final magazine question! And after the tickets were in, our Top 3 emerged like this:

And that my friends was a kick a$$ Tuesday pub trivia night! Thanks a ton for coming out hanging with me this evening. I wish all of you a great weekend and if you celebrate it, a very Happy Easter! If you get a chance, brush up on your “Great Song – Bad Voice AUDIO” trivia as that will be the question for next week’s shenanigans! Til then…be well and I will see you soon. DG 🙂

Orioles Nest #331 – Frederick, MD

It’s not often that we get to ask a question about ninjas, but tonight was the exception to that. Unfortunately nobody knew what an Ono is (it’s an axe/hatchet), but a good number of teams knew what katanas and shurikens are. I also had a team put kimono and feel they needed to explain (on their answer slip) what a kimono is, which I thought was pretty funny. The Book Club Babes even had their own moment of panic on the Once Upon a Time question, but their panic was ignored by their own teammate; good thing for them he was right though! Also, the halftime page (movies and wars) was one that a few teams thought was too difficult at the time, but ended up doing well on. Weird. Anyway, onto the final breakdown.

In third place tonight was Dufresne, Party of Four. In second place tonight was last week’s winners, Black Steel, who were the only ones who knew Eminem’s debut album, Infinite.. Tonight’s winners managed to secure a victory with a correct final answer and wagering just enough to keep the top spot, the Book Club Babes, congrats! Next week we will start out with Baltimore Orioles World Series History, so make sure to study up for that one!

Until next time,
-Chad

Quincy’s South – Rockville, MD

We’ve been going strong for a bit over a month here at Quincy’s South, one of our newest venues! Perhaps starting the game with a Pokemon question set a precedent for the rest of the game because The Big Fact Hunt nailed it for 9, one of the few teams to do so, and cruised the rest of the way! I don’t believe they trailed at any point tonight! The game had some big scores from quality teams but it was The Big Fact Hunt who ran away with it in the end, posting over 160 points before the final question, nailing the final, and taking down the victory, which makes 2 in a row now! D+M pulled 2nd place in tonight’s game, 3rd went to a new team calling themselves “Trying Hard is Not Good Enough”! Good game guys! We’re back next week with more trivia fun! Come join us, won’t you? 😉

1st Place: The Big Fact Hunt
2nd Place: D+M
3rd Place: Trying Hard is Not Good Enough
