Nelson Mandela and Kid Rock? Must be Pour House Pub Trivia Wednesday!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Wednesday brings you TEN games of live trivia every week!
On this edition, we brought you Nelson Mandela and Kid Rock, though not at the same time. But now that I’m thinking of it, I think I’d enjoy the sheer WTF-ery of that collaboration.
Can someone out there make that happen?
Let me know. Check out the games while you try!
Applebees – Frederick, MD
Today at Applebee’s, starting with a question about Grey’s Anatomy (the show, not the book) and yet another NBA question (this one was a tough one, too!) before moving on to a surprisingly difficult final question, tonight’s game was definitely chock full of interesting moments. To one team, however, you could say the final question was Child’s Play! Get it?… Anyway, moving on.
The team I just mentioned had a difficult early game but as the game progressed, they kept sniffing the air, claiming that they “smelled a comeback.” And come back they did, taking second place on the final question, nice job to That’s What You Get For Thinking! In third place we had last week’s winners Dalek Dance Party who had a minor slip on the final. Our winners tonight had enough of a lead that missing the final didn’t ruin them, nice job to Car Ramrod with the victory! We start out next week with Celtic Mythology as our opening category, so time to study up!
Until next time,
-Chad
Barefoot Bernie’s – Hagerstown, MD
Ever since we moved up the pub trivia game start time a smidgen at Bernies, we have a general increase in teams and tonight was no different! 10 teams came out to play some Pour Trivia tonight in Hagerstown’s Barefoot Bernies pub. Twas a nice mix of veteran crews and new trivia outfits giving it a whirl! And as always, it was a great time, and a great game!
I’m Here So I Don’t Get Fined put their game in high gear and quickly moved to the front of the pack and held there throughut the evening! Nice work y’all! And while we did kick off with some fun ones in Homey the Clown and Mo Money Mo Money, we finished with some questions that tested folk! Like hot sauce kinda test! Between Belgium and mitosis, the second half had some bite for sure!
And it was Chucky FTW! the final did toggle some things around a bit! Our Top 3 went down like this:
Have a great weekend and St. Paddy’s Day everyone! Don’t get too hungover next Wednesday as we kick the game off that night with “2015 NFL Free Agency!” Til then…be safe, have fun, and I will see you soon… dg ::)
2nd Place: Anderson Cooper? I Hardly Know Her
3rd Place: My Favorite TeamNext week’s category: Monkey Movies
The Cellar Door – Frederick, MD
And our pub quiz answer of the night: Nelson “Tits Mcgee” Mandela! And that’s Dr. Mandela to you!
Oh Cellar, you do make me laugh! I can’t thank you all enough for coming in and filling the underground on this beautiful day – I can always count on you guys.
The trash talking today was top notch btw; you’ve been working on your game. The big story tonight was the 3rd place finish: Team Wednesday! You had the lead before you fell way the hell down the standings with a bad 9 point loss and yet you still managed to recoup and take 3rd! 2nd went to 2nd place! I love it when that happens. Just rolls off the tongue so well. hehe. 1st were those badasses over at 2 Live Clue 2 :Need a Bigger Butt. Helluva game.
I will see you all next week when you’re hungover and have hopefully seen Big Trouble in Little China since that is first category next week.

Memories Charcoal House – Mount Airy, MD
We had another KILLER game of live trivia at Memories Charcoal House in Mt. Airy tonight!
The air was warm, the beer was flowing and everyone brought their A-GAME! We had multiple ties throughout the game, but in the end, our winning teams proved their worth!
In third place in a Cinderella story comeback was Special K! In second place, just ahead of them after a bold wager, was XXX!! Our grand champions of the evening are quickly becoming the “team-to-beat,” snagging first prize was Experienced Virgins!! Their choice of first category next week? 90s ALTERNATIVE MUSIC!!! See you next week!
– Torie
The Olney Tavern – Olney, MD
I can’t believe we finally had a nice day weather-wise on a Wednesday for live trivia at the Tavern!! Sunny and in the 60s?! What a great day for pub trivia and a team who got their first ever, 1st place victory!!
Tonight’s final would’ve had an impact on the order of the top 3, if everyone hadn’t of got it WRONG! Finishing 3rd tonight was I Just Quizzed In My Pants! In 2nd place was Olney The Lonely!! For the first time ever, tonight’s game winner, Team Griffindor!!
They seemed to always be a bridesmaid and never the bride, UNTIL NOW!! Our virgin 1st place finishers chose “John Steinbeck Novels” for next weeks winners choice, so study up and make sure to get back to The Tavern next Wednesday!!

Putter’s Pub – New Market, MD
We had a small, but lovely evening of live trivia tonight at Putters’ Pub at West Winds Golf Course in New Market! Tonight we discussed the fact that Kid Rock is still around (who knew?), whether the chicken or the egg came first (and which of them was left disappointed), and the wonderful process of chromosomes splitting into two sets via mitosis (or as one team put it, “who gives a s**t?”) 🙂 I also have to express extreme disappointment that an audio question about Michelle Pfeiffer didn’t include a single clip from “Grease 2!” I mean come on, who didn’t wanna hear “Cool Rider” or “Reproduction?” 😀
There was a lot of jockeying for position, and first place changed hands more often than the US presidency in 1841 (look it up). In the end it was Strange Winers taking the top spot with Just the Tip in second and 4 Seasons in third.
Holy mystery, Batman! Next week I get to live out a childhood dream of being Batman – your winners’ choice category is Eric is Adam West as Batman! The whole ’60s Batman series is out on DVD, so go watch it and I’ll have a question about it next week!
See ya then!
– Eric 😀
Revolution Bar – Fairfax, Virginia
Holy warm weather Batman! It was beautiful this evening! And with the warm weather came a hot night of trivia at the Revolution Bar!
Highlights of the Night:
In “Holy-Nostalgia-Batman”: I haven’t watched In Living Color in some time, but watching teams eyes light up at it’s mention was fun. That said, the dumbfounded looks on some other teams faces…less than fun.
In “Oh-No-Not-Big-Words!”: Perambulator. Per-am-bu-la-tor. Threw some teams for a loop tonight! didn’t any of you have a pram?! Or am I the only one with grandparents from Great Britain? Oh, it’s just me? Ok
then.
In “The-Round-of-Doom”:The 3rd round…oh dear… it was murder tonight. No one emerged unscathed, and shaped the rest of the game, which culminated in a tiebreaker for 2nd!
In third place tonight, losing the tiebreaker came a newer team, the Mosbys! Good game guys, way to hang tough!
In second place tonight, the closer of the two teams in the tiebreaker, Mess and Jegg! Well done!
They jumped out to a dominant lead in the Round of Doom and held it for the rest of the game: E=MC Hammer! Congratulations guys, great game!
For their first round category next week, E=MC Hammer have chosen to go simple: In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we’re gonna go with Guinness! Have fun studying! See you next time!
Until then,
Ian
T. J. Stone’s – Alexandria, VA
It is certainly a rarity when we have both a first question and a last question dealing with horror films, but such was the case last night at T. J. Stone’s, as we dealt with murderous little creatures to bookend tonight’s game. Last week’s winners, Did You Miss Us?, hit a bit of stumbling block trying to remember their World Cup facts, and that opened the door for the B-58s to take down the win! Two Girls and an idiot took second, with Gone Squatchin’ taking third after a ridiculously accurate guess on the tiebreaker. Next week, we begin with a question on the new York Islanders!
Isn’t it nice to come out to live trivia and there is no freezing a** wind and tons of snow to deal with? It was a great game of pub trivia here at Valley Grill in Middletown, here are your results:
Boom Goes the Dynamite in 1st
Stupid Sexy Flanders in 2nd
Southpaw Fish in 3rd
Our first category for next week is the Adam Sandler classic “Billy Madison”
