Quite a few venues were off tonight because of the Caps game, but we still managed to get in a few good games tonight! Check out the recap here for the diehards.
We had lightning and thunder and a hot game of Pour House Trivia tonight at the Roast House!
Highlights of the Night:
In “Maybe-We-Should-Have-A-Spelling-Bee”: Roomba, Anhk, Hazelwood; we’re clearly going to need to have some remedial spelling lessons around here! Tsk Tsk!
In “Do-You-Understand-The-Words-That-Are-Coming-Out-Of-My-Mouth”: I said the words mythological creature. That was the category. So remind me again why we had guesses of Beaver and Bear for the Nidhogg. come on!
In “What-Even-Is-That”: Phillip Morris? Altria? I didn’t know that Marlboro or Parliament were owned by anyone, let alone have I heard of these companies. Seems like most people hadn’t either. Tough one!
Amid the Penguins beating down on the Capitals as it should be, we got our final question in and our podium set.
In third place, Hot Shame, as a solo!
In second place, Three Fingers Worth!
In first place, Multiple Scorgasms!
Great game everyone! Next week we’ll kick things off with some I Love Lucy! Study up, and we’ll see you next time!
May is upon us. One month before the post season begins and it seems like some of our teams are primed and ready, and others could use the next 4 weeks to improve their game. One of the teams making a case that they’re ready for the playoffs was Wrecking Ball who came out super strong tonight.
At halftime, Wrecking Ball held the lead pretty significantly. They were up about 5 points on the next closest team. Not a ton of high scores tonight; only 3 teams above 80 points at the half. The A Team was sub-80 at half for what had to be the first time all season. With an uphill battle ahead of them, they’d try to fight back in the 2nd half.
Round 3 saw multiple questions that less than half of the teams were able to convert on. The Egyptian Ankh, Niddhogg the Dragon, no I’m not making up words, these appeared as answers in the 3rd round. Tough night. The A Team was able to move up a bit getting the 6 on the 6-4-2, the only team to do so, even though they were trailing by over 10 points going into the 4th round.
Round 4 killed everyone so the places moved around a bit. Going into the final, The A Team was able to move into 2nd place but Wrecking Ball led by 10 points. The A Team’s only chance was to get the final correct and hope that Wrecking Ball would miss. Seemed luck was on their side, as that’s exactly what happened and they take down the win tonight! 3rd to Amish Scurvy and 2nd to MC!
Back in a week to finish up the last few games of Season 12. Join us for 19th Century Literature Round 1 Question 1 next week! Until then guys, talk to ya soon 🙂
With one of our nearby venues taking the night off, we had a few extra teams tonight at Spider Kelly’s in Clarnendon. Theoretically, you would think that this would make things tougher for our perennial juggernaut, High School Prom. Well, you’d be wrong…
Even with some tough competition in the house tonight, HSP took it down with a runaway victory, locking up first place before we even asked the final question! They seperated themselves from the field by being one of the few teams to score points on a tough question on U.S. Presidents. They have quite a streak going, but it won’t matter unless they win it all on June 12th. Second place went to PC Principals with Kitten Mittens taking third. Next week, we’ll begin with a question on WrestleMania XI (the 1990 version). ~ Matt
