Roast House Pub – Frederick, MD

Tonight was as close a live trivia game as we’ve seen at the Roast House! This place was packed with veteran teams who were fighting tooth and nail all night! Highlights of the night: With a whopping 11 team members tonight, Spring Break Frederick decided to break into two teams and go head to head! Which Spring Break Party would be the best? The puzzle page was incredibly close; we had 4 top scores of 19, and everyone else was right behind them at 18 and 17. Too many confusing So-Crates johnson as Plato – and if you didn’t get that joke, you probably didn’t know the Most Excellent hidden theme of the puzzle page either, sorry! And of course, it’s hard to please everyone. The groans for the Fictional Languages were almost as loud as the Periodic Table question! Too easy, too hard … everything is relative my students. You must not burden yourselves with such labels. There is no easy or hard; there are only questions. This message has been brought to you by Ian-trying-and-probably-failing-to-be-deep, Incorporated, with a generous grant from the Is-This-Mic-On? Foundation. It came down to a tough final question, but when all was said and done, we had our top three. With a come-from behind correct answer, in third place came Spring Break Frederick! Good job guys! In second place, Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe! it was a close game guys, well played! But last weeks winners could not be stopped, and Multiple Scorgasms took first again! Congratulations guys! Can they keep the streak alive? We’ll find out next week when we start with their first round category of “Post-Soviet Eastern Europe!” Get out those history books and get studying! Until then, Ian

Spider Kelly’s – Arlington, VA

We hit double digits for the first time as 12 TEAMS joined us in Clarendon for some Monday night trivia at Spider Kelly’s.  It was a fantastic game, with numerous teams trading the lead throughout the night.  The fourth round provided some separation for our veteran teams, and it was Liquor? I Hardly Know Her! heading into the final with a slight lead.  They took the full three minutes on the final, but in the end, they got the correct answer and held on for the win.  Veitch Street followed up last week’s win with a second place finish, with My Favorite taking third as a duo.  Next week begins with a question on Aviation.  See you then!  ~ Matt
