Magic Mike, Football and so much more from Pour House Pub Trivia!
Pour House pub trivia‘s Monday brought the heat inside with six games of live trivia!
We discussed some NFL football, Magic Mike (HELLO THERE CHANNING TATUM!) and so much more.
Check out the recaps!
On a nice beautiful spring day like today, it’s always great to cap it off with a good game of trivia. Tonight the Greene Turtle was packed and boy was it loud in there! Our game had it all, plenty of sports questions, which always make me happy (even if the one was about the Steelers, but oh well..) and a really fun 6/4/2 question that I thought was a great question. The first clue was pretty difficult, especially with the limited time you have to make a guess. In the end we needed a tiebreaker, with two teams having to guess the worldwide box office revenue for the film Magic Mike *in dollars* (which I got judged for saying was a good movie, but I stand by that statement!).
In the end the winner of our tiebreaker took third place, with that team being Cotton Candy, narrowly winning it after a small tumble from first place on the final question. Our second place team was one of a few teams to get Henry Kissinger as the correct response, congrats going out to The Cobras, well done! Tonight’s winners were in second place for virtually the entire game, but were able to get the final question correct and take down the win. Congrats to The Bends on a very well played game! They picked as their first category the TV show Three’s Company to start off next week! So make sure to come and knock on our door next week! See you then!
Until next time,
Packed house tonight at il Forno! Great game of trivia tonight as well! As someone pointed out tonight, yes, PHT has now included the Audio Symbol for R2Q1 on EVERY ANSWER SHEET! It’s the little things in life… Just beautiful. We all really got a kick out of that one! Tonight’s question of the night goes out to the World Geography question. The Adriatic Sea, the body of water lodged up in the middle of the Mediterranean. Well, turns out, not everybody has heard of the Adriatic Sea, as this may have been our biggest killer question of the night. Some teams hit with Italy but I had NO TEAMS get Croatia (Greece was a common wrong answer) but then I had some answers that were just all over the place. Geography is DEFINITELY a subject that is BOUND to rear its ugly head in around post-season and DEFINITELY something the teams need to feel comfortable with. Let this be a learning opportunity and grow from it! I want to see all my teams do some SERIOUS DAMAGE during the post-season this time around! Let’s make it happen! Tonight’s game saw I’m with Sarah leading going into the final, after a brutal 4th round dropped Latrilla out of the top 3… 2nd place was MC by themselves followed by Chicken Mcthuggets in 3rd. The final question tonight was a killer though… Only 2 teams picked up a correct response. One, Off in Public, unfortunately was down too low to finish in the money but grats on sniping the correct response! Sarah missed it, MC missed it, both dropping down a bit. Chicken Mcthuggets bet a defensive zero and it kept them around… After all was said and done, Chicken Mcthuggets were tied with Sarah for 2nd place. Mcthugs won the tie breaker, taking 2nd place tonight, I’m with Sarah took 3rd and your winners tonight… after a bit of a shaky finish, with a correct response, they jump from 4th place all the way into the lead… two weeks in a row now, give it up for Latrilla and the Mossy Banks!!! An exciting finish 🙂
1st Place: Latrilla & the Mossy Banks
2nd Place: Chicken McThuggets
3rd Place: I’m with Sarah
Next week’s category: The Broadway show “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”
The heat may have kept a few teams home tonight, but that couldn’t stop the Roast House from having a good game of Pour House Live Trivia!
Highlights of the Night:
In “Hoooooooo-Boy…”: You know the night’s gonna be interesting when the first category of the night is “African-American Hair Care”. Hoooooo boy.
In “The-Jealousy-Is-Strong-With-Everyone”: So when I read the NFL teams question, I may have embellished a bit on the answer. I gave nothing but facts, like how my Steelers have 6 Super Bowl victories, and the moment I do I hear nothing but Boos! Guys, jealousy is an ugly color! 😉
In “Down-To-The-Wire”: Tonight’s final brought us to our first tiebreaker in a long time! The teams weren’t thrilled with the Magic Mike question, but they did get their answers in for the final standings.
In third place, the Ollie Monsters! Way to hang tough guys!
In second place, a bit too high on the tiebreaker, Multiple Scorgasms!
In first place, only off the tiebreaker by about $7M, Two Finger’s Worth! Congrats guys!
Next week’s round 1 question 1 will be Military Aircraft! Study up guys, and we’ll see you next time!
Tonight at Spider Kelly’s in Clarendon, we had one of the most interesting finishes we’ve had in quite some time. There were two teams that were tied for the lead heading into the final question, but both teams had a 13-point advantage over the rest of the field. So, each team could have easily wagered zero and guaranteed themselves second place. But, they must have felt confident on the topic of U.S. State Capitals, because they both went for the win with an all-in wager. Unfortunately, when both of those teams missed the final, it was the Rocket Sturgeons who swooped in for the win, as they were one of only two teams to get the final! Double Secret Probation took second, with Eleven is a Prime Number securing third on the tiebreaker. Next week, we begin with a question on the history of pornography (no picture). ~ Matt
