Lottsa Love on Wednesday Trivia Night!
Valley Grill in Middletown, Md
So we had a curve ball hit us for a question but you know we’re human and I think we all rode the wave rather well here at Valley Grill so thanks to you all. Apparently we all could us a little brush up on where major waterfalls are located as that question surprisingly tripped up a number of teams. Great game nonetheless, here are the results:
Fat Kids are Hard to Kidnap in 1st
Stupid Sexy Flanders in 2nd
Rum Ham in 3rd
Our first category for next week is and I quote the team “A TOUGH Game of Thrones NOVEL question” ~ Ronnie
We had another wild night at the Revolution Bar! Our games of Pour House Trivia seem to get crazier and crazier as time goes by!
Highlights of the Night:
In “Are-They-Smart-Jenn-ay?”: Yes, Hailey Joel Osment is best known for the Sixth Sense, but he was in fact Forrest Gump’s son first, and no one was able to come up with it. Gratuitous “Jenn-ay”s ensued.
In “Not-Even-Gonna-Try”: I think between the 6 teams we had tonight, only one or two knew one of the three bands that came up in the audio clue tonight, most not even bothering to put anything down for the bonus portion of the answer. Hey, guessing costs nothing guys! Though it did save us some time…
In “Did-We-Put-Down-Enough-Mads”: It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, had most teams stopping before handing in their answers, asking themselves if they had put down enough Mads. It was quite amusing as they drove themselves…crazy counting words.
The final was a total whiff tonight, despite a few teams pulling half of the answer, so defensive wagers were key.
In third place tonight, Green Machine!
In second place tonight, the Juggernauts!
In first place tonight, GT80 Sauce!
Great game everyone! next week we’ll kick things off with a Japanese Cars! Should be good! Study up, and we’ll see you next time!
Until then,
Ian
Last night was another action filled game at The Tavern! Even with a couple first timer teams, the competition was TOUGH!! “How tough?” you ask? We had a 3 way tie for 1st place going into the final question!! Now, how you wagered and your answer decided everything, and after the answers were turned in there was no more tie… Moving up into 3rd place was Helplessly Hoping! Jumping from 5th to 2nd place was If We Lose the Terrorists Win! Adding another 1st place to their current win streak was John Lithgow’s Fan Club!! For next Wednesdays winners choice they picked “The Twilight Zone T.V. show” so study up and come join the excitement with us next week at The Tavern!! ~ Jon J
1. John Lithgow’s Fan Club
2. If We Lose the Terrorists Win
3. Helplessly Hoping
4. Olney the Lonely
5. Strangers in a Bar
6. Cindy and the Rippers
7. Men and Pausers
8. Moving Forward
Tonight’s game proved to be a bit tougher than usual for most of the teams playing. The game started out okay with the Star Wars Episode IV question, asking about the line ‘I have a bad feeling about this’ which is said on several occasions. However, things were tough almost from the start. The Sesame Street question was a tough one too, asking for people with Sesame Street characters names like Grover Cleveland. I did, however, love the Comic Book Characters question, which asked about Deadpool and Deathstroke’s shared last name, which is Wilson, with their first names being Wade and Slade Wilson.
A question about the child actor Haley Joel Osment stumped a few teams as well, and then the Midori question (which was apparently the hint of the day) got teams too. The three clues/one last name question was really tough too, with only a few teams knowing we were looking for Robinson. The world cities question asked for the first city to have a million people, which happened in 1811, and a few teams knew we were looking for London. The audio question about songs that start with ‘Everybody’ proved difficult as well.
Halftime had teams identify the famous Chuck/Charles/Charlie as well as answering things with Legend in them. In the second half things continued to be tough, asking for the location of Angel falls and Tugela, which are in Venezuela and South Africa. The art question for tonight asked about Henri Matisse, and stumped almost the entire room.
In the final round we asked about Key and Peele, who made an appearance at the White House Correspendents Dinner as Luther the Anger Translator. The college sports question asked about a bunch of teams who have Green athletic nicknames. Heading into the final things were looking pretty good for the team in the lead, and we had a question about Pen Names for the final.
The final asked about the pen name Abigail Van Buren, which is better known as ‘Dear Abby’. Taking third place tonight was the Carolina Reapers, and second place went to Dalek Dance Party. Taking the win, for the second week in a row congrats goes to We’ve Embraced Our Mediocrity! Nice work! Next week we start with a question about the Harry Potter Novels, so study up!
Until next time,
-Chad
You out did yourself tonight crew, every where I looked the awesome level just kept going up. The cookie monster shirt made an appearance, and was even joined by an old school TMNT shirt! Pete Rose bet on Us had crisis chocolate on them, FLA was giving out hugs and the rest of you just made me laugh so damn much…. Gotta love those Wednesday nights. Not gonna lie learning that Tokyo Sex Whale is named after a real person, well. that just made my night. All I knew if that Alan saw it on CNN one day- not as a persons name! Awesome.
Oh yeah. The game. Yeah, my job.. Well, Ill just get this out of the way now- Bass. bass. Yes, I know. And just for that- I’m simply going to tell you the places after a KILLER final. That’s not a dark hole it’s Uranus were the only ones to come up with Dear Abby and that put them in a tie with Tokyo Sex Whale. They took the tiebreaker by a few years and managed to throw another win in to their bag. Nice job. TSW was in 2nd and finishing up the top 3 is was Flight Level Awesome. And no, that’s not because they told me I was beautiful, but it was a nice touch 😉 See you next week for Cannonball Run! Love that movie. : ~Samantha
While team members on Up For Anything were learning new and, er, “colorful” hand gestures, the rest of our packed house was scratching their heads over some tough questions during this week’s game. Scores stayed relatively close all night, leading to some risky bets and wild guesses that paid off!
Barefoot Bernie’s in Hagerstown, Md
What started out innocently enough grew up to be quite the power set of trivia Wednesday! We had a good 9 teams come out to our neighborhood watering spot in Hagerstown, MD and battle chops for a bit! Even round 1 had some teeth – St. Elmo and Moh’s Scale come to mind!
There were indeed some twists & turns in this set. but any good set should have a few meanies lurking here and there right? Moooohohohohohohahahaha! (Channeling my inner Vincent Price here…)
Great game from all of your teams tonight but an especially craft final question wagering display earned the W for our friends over at Sad, Fat, Dragons! GG Y’all 🙂
And congrats to the rest of our TOP 3:
Thanks for playing tonight my friends. Next Wednesday we kick off with a little “Rick & Morty.”
See you then – Have a great weekend 🙂

Hard Times Cafe in Arlington, Va
Another great night of trivia at Hard Times Cafe in Clarendon! We had eight teams join us this evening, and every team was still in contention for the win at the end of round four. The final question took a lot of discussion, as many teams needed the full three minutes to arrive at the answer, but one of the teams that was successful was Two Girls and an Idiot, who were able to maintain their lead and take home the win! Our next top teams had to come from behind to win some prizes, as Rocket Surgeons took second and Matt Frost Gave us the Answers took third. Next week, we’ll begin with a question on U2! ~ Matt
