Like Allstate, you’re in good hands with Pour House Pub Trivia!

Allstate promises to keep you in good hands, but Pour House pub trivia? We keep you in good hands AND keep your brain healthy!

We talked about the finer points of Shaq’s free throws (man are they uuuuuuggggggggggllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy!),

did a little light light-speed traveling and wound down with some capicola, or, if you’re a Sopranos fan, “Gabagul!”

Now if someone could just grab me about a half pound of that and a nice crusty Italian bread, we would be in business! Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Let’s see how the games went down!

Champion Billiards – Frederick, MD

I had a ton of fun filling in for the lovely Ms. Samantha tonight, and thank you all for bearing with me on this evening of not being abled to pronounced a damned thing!

It started with Greek deities Cephissus and Liriope, and their son Narcissus (thanks a lot for putting all three of those in one question, guys!) and it only got worse with the Carolingian Empire.

I was mercifully put out of my misery by square parallelepiped and right rhombohedron, mostly because they were the final questions of round four!

And boy, what a round four we had at Champions!

Things were knotted up in second place between Doomed and Jungle Fever after our final question, so we had to break that tie.

And after a tiebreaker, it was Doomed who not only won the tiebreaker, but correctly got Alex Trebek’s year of birth – 1940!

Winning the game after a strong fourth round and nailing the final was W!

W has chosen music theory to start things off next week, so study up! Sam will return to help you guys out with that!

Jekyll & Hyde Tavern – Frederick, MD

We had an intense night of trivia at Jekyll & Hyde this week, learning all about the Daily Dairy of the American Dream, and the day the world was given the gift of Alex Trebek.

Taking honorable mention and fourth in a tiebreaker went to We Made a Huge Mistake.  Great game, guys!

Third place went to Brownie Points in the tiebreaker, second went to the Wesley Crushers, and taking first place by one point with a strategic wager was Beer is Good!

Awesome game, everyone!  Next week’s category as chosen by Beer is Good will be Big Wave Surfing!  So study up, hang ten, and we’ll see you next week!

Monkey La La – Frederick, MD

I am NOT going to be surprised when it is 90 degrees at Christmas time this year! I’ve put away winter clothes like four times now! Freezing rain and a wintery mix on April 15th is just confusing. The good news…we had a big ol’ pub trvia bash at Monkey La La tonight! Eleven teams came out and splashed around a bit in the trivia waters.

Stink Floyd came out with a guns blazing and stayed in the lead 99% of the game. That 1%, however, was the final question. Stink finished with a very respectable third Place tonight. Great game Stink Floyd! Second Place went to third Quarter Nosedive who did no nosediving tonight, but rather gritted some teeth – pearly white ones I might add – and earned the two spot! And our winners tonight – Master Debaters. They stayed in striking distance throughout the game and followed through on the final for the leap frog into first FTW! Great stuff this evening everyone 🙂

Thanks for playing tonight everyone…it was fun and a learning experience. Some “notes to self” fun facts I will take away form tonight’s game:

– I need to re-watch Rain Man, I miss Raymond Babbitt
– The words “peninsula” and “pianist” really bring out my inner 8th grader
– Just because “mutton and mocha night” sounds cool and alliterative and all…doesn’t mean that it would be rewarding in any way whatsoever!

Oh and…uh  PENINSULA! DOH!

See ya next Tuesday for some “Gone With the Wind” trivia for our opening question category. HAPPY EASTER if that’s your thing, if not, have a great week! Hopefully we can actually string some spring days together here soon… 🙂

See ya soon y’all. dg  🙂

Ramparts Tavern – Alexandria, VA

A little torrential downpour could not affect Tuesday night’s turnout at Ramparts, as 15 teams piled in from the rain for some trivia fun.  It was a tight race to the top, but Sorry Folks, Park’s Closed and Fat, Drunk, and Stupid each managed to pull away from the field at the end of round four.  But when neither team could come up with the correct response iontyeh final, it was ALL CAPS who swept it with tehir first win of the season!  Great job!  Hodorisms also hit the final, and had their best finish of the season by winning the second place tie-breaker over the Stamp Collectors.  Who knew Alex Trebek was so old?  Anyway, next week’s first category will be the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”.  See you in a week!  ~ Matt
