LACES OUT! Wednesday Evening with Pour House Pub Trivia

Pour House pub trivia‘s Wednesday reminded you of the importance of a kicker in football games! Seriously gang, you need one. Don’t be like my fantasy football team. Check out the games!

Applebees – Frederick, MD

Today at Applebee’s, in our last game before a brief hiatus for the holidays, on my favorite question of the night we were reminded that kickers are in fact an important part of a football team as the unsung heroes the team needs but are never really remembered.  We also learned that everybody knew way too much about TV theme songs and brands of liquor, which almost had me worried. Winning the game with some clutch play was The Witiots, getting a correct answer on the final question when it mattered the most.  Matt Prater would be proud.  In second place was a team with a name that is incorrect, We Don’t Love Raymond (EVERYBODY loves him!  It’s the name of the show!).  In third place was a returning team, Car Ramrod, who was able to tell me way more than was necessary about the region of Bavaria. Unfortunately I will not be able to see you all for the next two weeks, as Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve will interfere and trivia is cancelled.  However, I hope to see everybody on January 7th after the Holidays are over, when we will be starting with U.S. Presidents, as chosen by The Witiots.  Happy Holidays everybody! Until next time, Chad B Presidents Pub Trivia Category MD

Atlantic Grille – Urbana, MD

Crazy night of live trivia at Atlantic Grille in Urbana tonight! We discussed Frank Sinatra singing Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It,” Hercules having a barium enema in an Italian Restaurant, and Marlon Brandos massive haboobs :-PIt was one of the closest games we’ve ever had with just three points separating 1st and 3rd place going into Round 4! Strangers Have the Best Candy took the top spot with A Fistful of Answers taking second and Momzilla rounding out third. Grab some high-quality H2O and cast out da debil – the winners’ choice category for next time is Eric is Bobby Boucher! YOU CAN DO EET!!! Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanzaa, Joyous Festivus, Happy Saturnalia, and a wonderful New Year! See you in 2015! – Eric 😀

Barefoot Bernie’s – Hagerstown, MD

How many “Haboob” jokes can one trivia host make in one night? Oh…this guy can go on forever my friends! Hehe…tonight’s final 2014 trivia game at Barefoot Bernies this evening turned out to be a year end bash! Some tough questions were splashed in there and bit a few teams in the mid rounds! And some fun questions were littered in there as well. My fav’s were

1. Barium enema – that question just flowed nicely (yep I just did that!)
2. Haboobs – this one had us all perked up in the mid round! (mmmhmm!)
3. And “Tuesday’s With Morie” – legitimately, one of the best non-fiction books I have read

We also threw down a fantastic white elephant gift exchange after the trivia tonight! Thanks everyone for bringing some very cool gifts. And I have had a good week – tonight I managed to grab some “Ugly Sweater” Christmas Cookies!

Somewhere in there we did have a fantastic year ending game of trivia tonight as well.
Here is how the Top 3 looked:

HAGERSTOWN BAR ACTIVITIES
MARYLAND BAR ACTIVITIES
GIVING THE FINGER

In the midst of our jokes and play and shenanigans and Christmas cookie and gift  giving, we had a lotta love in the house tonight. Gonna miss y’all the next few weeks. When we come back, our first category in 2015 will be “Back to the Future 2.” Til then…be well and Happy Holidays to all of you and your families. dg 🙂back to the future trivia

It’s our last game for a while with the holidays coming up!!! :'(  Good thing we ended the year strong! A reminder to the teams: for every time you heckle me, the game lasts an extra minute sooo think twice before doing it or we’ll be stuck playing trivia all night! (though, I wouldn’t mind, that sounds awesome, I just would want to trade hosting duties after a bit).

Which of you guys do I get to play with? Trivial Pursuers? You guys need some extra help? I’m pretty good! Anyways! Tonight’s game saw a bunch of our veterans fighting for first place. Erotic Friend Fiction led the way going into the final with Uncle Jack not far behind. Defensive wagers by both teams (though they submitted correct responses on the final), paved the way for a 3rd team to jump up from behind and steal the win, and for 3 weeks in a row now, our winners are My Favorite Team! 2nd place went to Uncle Jack, 3rd to Anderson Cooper? Like I stated previously, we are off for 2 weeks so I will see you all in 2015! Happy holidays :)1st Place:     My Favorite Team 2nd Place:    Uncle Jack 3rd Place:     Anderson Cooper? I Don’t Even Know Her! Next week’s category: (they said they’d email me…. they’ve got 3 weeks, right??)

The Cellar Door – Frederick, MD

Happy Christmas, Merry Hanukkah! And all the rest of those crazy holidays 😉 The feeling was joyful and just a bit out of control: I blame the cookies which were scarfed by the end of the first round. hehe. You all are voracious! What a good live trivia game to end 2014 on; we even had a come back tie for first place tonight! It all came down to Admissiary Positions and Grab a Straw: they faced off on the dark side of the moon and it was Grab a Straw who took the last first place of the year! Admissary Position played a helluva game though, leading all damn night, no shame in their game for 2nd. 3rd went to Ultimate Scientists who were quite excited when I played she blinded me with Science. hehe. When we get together again next, in 2015!, we will start with a question on the original Legend of Zelda. Good times. 🙂 I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season and I will see you in 3 weeks. ~Samantha legend of zelda pub quiz

The Olney Tavern – Olney, MD

It was a blast substituting at The Tavern, where the teams are hungry for trivia! This was a very close game, with many position changes throughout the night, and at least one team has a new personal best final score. Congrats!

While some teams were in physical pain writing down the word “Duke University”, they muscled through thanks to the soulful jams of Kenny G. We also found out just how popular the Buccaneers are, and breezed through an “alcohol and TV” halftime page. (Seems like teams here really know their liquor…)

The teams battled it out until the very end, and with a one-point gap between first and second, it was a nail biter of a finish. In the end, Olney the Lonely took home the bacon, with I Just Quizzed My Pants holding on to second and Manson Family Values grabbed up third.

Three weeks from now (taking off the holiday “Eve”s), your first category will be Choral Music. Hit those high notes!

Revolution Bar – Fairfax, Virginia

The Revolution Bar is always a close fight and tonight was no exception! Highlights of the night: In “Best-Wrong-Answer-Of-The-Night”: I’m not sure anyone with the name Club-Foot Louie could ever be an NFL kicker, but Dempsey definitely made it work. The Puzzle Page turned out to be a non-factor tonight; nothing lower than an 18 across a tight field! The Final proved to be just as maddeningly unhelpful; correct answers across the board! But, it brought us our first tiebreaker in a long time! How would that effect things? In third place, Mess and Jegg! Well done guys, way to hang tough. In second place, losing the tiebreaker came Movin on Up! Tough break guys, but a great game none-the-less! Taking the tiebreaker and the game, came the Del Rey Dummies! Congrats on a well earned win! For their first round category next week, they have chosen the classic Bill Murray comedy “Groundhog Day.” Get watching, and we’ll see you in a few weeks! Happy Holidays everyone! Until then, Ian [th_youtube id=’tSVeDx9fk60′ name=’GroundHog Day Trivia’]

T. J. Stone’s – Alexandria, VA

Our last night of 2014 at T. J. Stone’s, and it was a fantastic performance by My Favorite Team, who never relinquished the lead, got the final, and took home their second win in three weeks.  All the Marbles (playifn as ‘Better Without Kyle’) also played well to take second, with Trivia Newton John rounding out our top three.  Since we’ll be off for a weeks, that means that there are only TWO SCORING WEEKS left in Season X, so make sure you’re there on Jan. 7th and 14th to squeeze into the post-season.  When we get back, our first question will be on Dreidels!  Apparently, they are made out of clay.  ~ Matt Dreidel

The fine pub trivia players here at Valley Grill NEVER fail to disappoint, and we had another real tight race coming into the final question of the night! Give it up for Fat Kids are Hard to Kidnap for pulling out the final on a full wager! Dufregne Party of 4 made them work for it however, and finished in 2nd. Southpaw Fish strategically wagered zero to secure a 3rd place showing. From the heart I want to wish all of you a happy and safe Christmas and New Year, I will see you back here on January 7, 2015. Our first category will be 90’s Grunge Music. ~ Ronnie matt dillon trivia
