Wednesday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 102 teams across 12 venues.

Topics from Wednesday’s first round included Altoids breath mints, Bing Crosby, and the endpoints of the historic highway Route 66 (California and Illinois).  A three-part literature question kept most of the perfect scores off the board.  Describing books whose titles contain the word ‘heart’, just over half of Wednesday’s teams earned wagering points with two of the correct answers of The Tell-Tale Heart, Heart of Darkness, and The Heart is a Lonely Hunter.  Four teams earned a perfect first round score: Sharkfin Pizza (Vanish), Steely Dan (Not the Band) (Memories), Archived! (GearHouse), and Titanic Was an Inside Job (Hops N Shine).

We honored the career of late actor Sean Connery in Wednesday’s audio question, as our teams identified the Connery films Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Rock, and The Hunt for Red October.  Other second round topics included the computer modem, the R&B trio TLC, the career achievements of NASCAR driver Richard Petty, and the largest moons of our Solar System.  Three teams earned a perfect second round score: Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters (Belles’), Tokyo Sex Whale (Belles’), and Spider Bites (GearHouse).

Caricatures of historic figures and Grammy-winning albums were the featured topics on Wednesday’s halftime page.  Two dozen teams notched a perfect score as the overall average reached 17.7 points.  These were your highest scoring Wednesday teams at the halftime break:

Topics from Wednesday’s third round included the Atacama Desert of South America, Stanley Cup champions, events from the year 1976, the Canadian comedy show Letterkenny, and the new wave hit She Blinded Me with Science by Thomas DolbyAlcoholics Unanimous (Vanish) posted the only perfect score in Wednesday’s third stanza.

Wednesday’s final round discussed the comedy film Neighbors, the Dick Cheney shooting accident, and Irish author Bram Stoker.  We closed with the most difficult wagering question of the first four rounds:

  • Held by just four men in U.S. history, which two-word title is the U.S. Naval equivalent of a five-star Army general?

Only one-fourth of the field responded correctly with Fleet Admiral.  As a result, three teams notched 36 points en route to a perfect final round: Steely Dan (Not the Band) (Memories), Cultured Heathens (GearHouse), and Virtual Cigar (Hops N Shine).  Here is Wednesday’s leaderboard after four rounds of play:

FINAL QUESTION (10.8% success rate):

  • Originally used to teach Hindu philosophy, the ancient game Moksha Patam was a forerunner of which modern game whose board consists of 100 squares?

Eleven teams responded correctly with Chutes and Ladders.  None of teams earned a Perfect 21 on Wednesday by answering all 21 wagering questions correctly.  Here is Wednesday’s final overall leaderboard:
