It’s Check-In Time at Monday Trivia!

With less than five weeks to go until the end of Season XIX, Monday’s game of Pour House Trivia welcomed 86 teams across 11 venues.

FIRST ROUND:

While the first round wagering questions posed few problems for our Monday teams, the trio of bonus questions proved to be quite difficult, with each of the three yielding a success rate of under 30%.  The bonus answers included the Venerable Bede, “Seinfeld” actor Patrick Warburton, and former U.S. Speaker of the House Sam Rayburn:

Only three teams began their night with a perfect first round score: MSC (DRP), Kitten Mittens (Cheesetique), and Obstructionists (Rockwell).

SECOND ROUND:

Monday’s audio question asked our teams to identify three ‘diabolical’ songs: “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones, “Running with the Devil” by Van Halen, and “Devil With a Blue Dress On” by Shorty Long.  Later, we looked at the Mazanares River in Spain, the NBA championships won by the Miami Heat, and this drama film:

Four teams notched 36 points en route to a perfect second round score: Oliver’s Army (DRP), Alternative Best (DRP), High School Prom (Cheesetique), and Irregardlessly Unrelevant (Rockwell).

HALFTIME:

‘O’ foods and contemporary film directors were the featured topics on Monday’s halftime page, which yielded perfect scores to 17% of the field, while the overall average landed at 17.9 points.  These were your highest scoring Monday teams at the halftime break:

THIRD ROUND:

Monday’s third round discussed topics such as the Crimean War, the binary numbering system, woodwind instruments, and this flowering shrub which lends its name to a color:

Only 29% of the field earned points by recognizing a description of the Fuschia plant.  Four teams earned a perfect third round score on Monday night: Cher’s Zombie Army (Uno Pizzeria), Kitten Mittens (Cheesetique), Fondue or Do Not (Cheesetique), and Obstructionists (Rockwell).

FOURTH ROUND:

After the 6-4-2 question dealt with the Brazilian national soccer team, we took a bite of this candy brand:

We continued with questions concerning the Human Genome Project, the Dalmatian dog breed, and the Cheech and Chong film “Up in Smoke”.  Five teams closed their game with a perfect final round score: George Washington’s Camel (DRP), Kitten Mittens (Cheesetique), Lion’s Den (Rockwell), Periodic Table Dancers (Il Forno), and Del Boca Vista (Il Forno).  These were Monday’s highest scoring teams after four rounds of play:

MONDAY’S FINAL QUESTION (52.7% success rate):

–> Whose autobiography “Be My Guest” was published in 1958, roughly 20 years before his death?

Just over half of our teams earned wagering points with the final answer of Conrad Hilton.  None of our teams earned the Perfect 21 on Monday night.  Here is Monday’s final overall leaderboard:
